  1. On Google maps it's listed as Chan Cha La 323 Pak Raet. On the 323 from the direction of Bangkok, just over the rail crossing and about 200m from the traffic lights where a right turn takes you towards Kanchanburi. Lek noodle is nearby and bar 35 on the opposite side of the road.

  2. Yes, my problem was the local postman. Not just me, but many Thais were complaining and nothing was done. They finally took action when hundreds of letters were found floating in a local kong. All my mail from abroad seems to get through, but as an example only about 60% of my TOT bills arrive.

  3. My wife has just got the Mitsubishi Mirage starts at 380k goes up to 546k. Problem for you may be delivery time. You may consider looking at repossessions and there are a lot of them around st the moment. The easiest mak to finde is Toyota who have set up second hand dealerships under the name 'Sure'. For others you may have to look up financial companies websites or find out where a local auction type sale is held.

  4. I have had all the problems you mention with mail. 2 years ago I started using 'International Signed For' for important things from the UK, it costs just over 5 pounds on top of the postage fee for the item. So far every piece of mail has arrived and has been signed for. It was funny one day when my 7 year old son produced a letter for me which contained my new Bank card. I asked him who signed for it and he said he did.

  5. My wife got the GLS Ltd 2 weeks ago. The tyres are Dunlop Enasave EC300 and are inflated cold to 35 Psi. I have driven the car and not found excessive road noise, in fact I hardly notice it. I was going to regard he car as a runaround for her shopping trips, picking my son up from school etc. I did not expect any sort of performance from it, as being sold as an ECO car with 3 cylinders. However I'm quite quite impressed with it's acceleration and top speed for such a small car. In fact I prefer driving it to my Chevie. The GLS LTD also comes with DVD and Satnav. When she ordered it she was originall was quoted 2 months, but this streched out to closer to 5 months. Our local dealer is telling new customers 4-6 months. For some reason the colour makes a differnce to the deliverys time, with green and yellow being available much quicker and for another unknown reason white ones are more expensive. Although Mitsu show it can be run on a range of fuels one of the mechanics suggested it was better to stick with 91 petrol.

  6. There are bars, but not the sort of vibrant nightlife of more tourist cities. The best restaurant I have found is Lemon House which is on the main road out of Chai Nat to Suphanburi. It's past Tescos's, on the opposite side on the frontage road. It's part of a small new development. As for things to do, I was disappointed

with the Bird Park. The main attractions are towards Suphanburi with Bungchawat which has an aquarium and zoo and the hundred year old market at Sam Chuk.

  7. If anyone requires a quality caterer for a function I can recommend the one my wife found for our daughter's wedding. The set up was delightful and the food (all 7 courses) was excellent. In the past people have posted looking for caterers so if anyone wants details please PM me.

  8. They should have done this long ago, no country should deprive their citizens from their nationality , ID or passport cuz governments easily could use this as a political weapon , that's why i don't understand how so many countries call themselves democracies and still they have this kind of laws. :jap:

No... it must be very undemocratic to cancel the passports of convicted felons.

it doesn't matter if you have been convicted or not your government should have no authority to cancel your passport, even if you are convicted , if you are convicted they should prevent you from leaving the country, an if you still can run away then they should use Interpol or something , but they should not touch you citizenship at all and i say this not cuz i support Thaksin i say it just cuz is my view and in particular case of K. Thaksin there is a lot of political motivated s... involved :)

My meter just went off the scale.

  9. Nakhon Pathom Immigration Office is now located in the Rajabhat University. It's on the 321 Supanburi road out of Nakhon Pathom. The office at Rai King is still under and I think it will be some time before they are back there. If anyone wants directions PM me.

  10. I was supposed to go to Rai King eye hospital on Tuesday, but the appointment was cancelled due to flooding. The hospital is very close to the immigration office. Thai friends have told me the immigration office is flooded, but I've not had confirmation. I have also been told I can use the Kanchanaburi office for the time being.

  11. 'Frank' was spot on. The get together will be at the Chan Cha La restaurant at 18:00 on 25 June. The restaurant is on the 323 on the left side coming from Bangkok direction, just past the railway crossing, before the lights where you would turn right for Kanchanaburi. If anyone needs more precise directions please PM me.

  12. Ban Pong is in Ratchaburi province and also not far from Kanchanburi. 'Frank' that restaurant is excellent and one we'll probably visit. By the way Bar 35 has been around a while now, not the place to take the family to though, after 19:00.

  13. With the demise of the Friday afternoon coffee meets a number of Ban Pong Expats are planning a monthly get together. The first is on 25/6 and I will post times and venue as soon as known. All are welome and if any questions please ask.
