  1. They say the price has changed (it was 200thb last year). Probably that's only because they can do it in high season and soon they have to lower it again!?

Anyway, it's sometimes very dangerous and they have to deal with people who don't want to pay, think it's too expensive, or tell them how to do their job.

By the way, I never had a problem with any of them.
The road to Haad Tian can now be used (taxi drivers sometimes take 2000thb for the tour at night...), so why don't you try this way?

Oh, a friend of mine wanted to sell one of these boats for 80.0000thb a few months ago, why don't you DIY wink.png

  2. Tourist also need to be informed not to act didfferent in Thailand than you would at home. Do not stand in the middle of a road having a conversation, do not walk in the middle of the road, if there is a sidewalk use it. These and other dangerous activities I see every day in my neighborhood, I guess normal intelligent people check their brains when they board the flight to Thailand.

    Thank you!!!

  3. But if I can't own land, I'll scratch it off my list. One of the many reasons I want to leave here. I want to move one more time, build, and die.

I don't understand why you have to own land for your plans? Using land for residential and business purposes in Thailand is easy and safe if you do it the right way and as far as I know it's similar in Philippines?

  4. I'm impressed by the rapid speed this development is taking shape. Nice to see that some constructions can be managed in reasonable time even on this island. I guess the value of the near lots will rise now. Any ideas where the lady bars will have to move next? Maybe we see a Makro establish it self here in a near future too.

Maybe soon, authorities are already talking about Makro being 'on the way'.

  5. I mentioned these plans in the other airport topic several months ago.

What do you think is more realistic?

-build an airport on the mainland (don sak) where most of the tourist still have to take a boat to their holiday destination

-build a 2nd airport on Samui only because they were too stupid to choose a destination where the airport could be expanded

-build an airport in the sea near to phangan, the 2nd important tourist destination in this area.

  6. Isn't it sad? On the last 3 pages, most of the posts discuss whether it's the fault of the girl, society problems, how's the 'rape situation' in the rest of the world, if the opinon of poster xxx is right or not right and so on.

What happend doesn't really play any role since page 3 or so. Almost Nobody actually asked anything about the girl and also no one asked anything about the arrested guy. There were several posts in the beginning which mentioned that the news reports don't make sense or in other words, that it's totally unknown what happened after reading these news because most of these articles contradict each other.

What does that show us? Thai authorities obviously do everything right: Finding an offender very quick and declare the case as closed. There might be some discussions about this terrible crime that happened last month or a few weeks ago... but hey, at least they found the guy who did that!

The guy who was arrested did very likely not commit this crime and half of the local population in Haad Rin knows that. There were Thai(!) people who witnessed that the arrested burmese can't have been there and there is even an explanation for it's injuries.

I don't know what's true. I just find it sad that no one seems to be interested and some members feel invited for some pub talk instead.

  7. news report is not correct! the truth is a maynmar man bit a chunk from HER lip (the victum), she wasin hospital in the morrning and due to fly out that evening, she is now back her country. Firslyt police in koh phangan want to keep it secret but a I know one of the people that has spoken with the lady , the man, and the police there, he called news from bkk and they followed it up which means the police have no choice but to do thier job and find the man.

That means she could see that it was a Burmese and it is impossible that he's from any other Asian origin? -_-

  8. The scene of the alleged attack behind water storage tanks:

    .

As far as I can understand this article it does change the original story a bit I think. I don't want to blame the victim, I just want to mention that there were probably no people around in this area if she chose it to urinate there. One can discuss if girls should be able to urinate in public during parties without being raped, in my opinion I think in any foreign country you should avoid dark and lonely places next to large public events, even when the available toilets might look more 'dangerous'.

  9. Patong is the most crowded and most commercialised beach in Thailand. If people like ydraw like that, they should go there and be happy.

Others prefer beaches without all that, just beach, palm trees, tropical calm sea and a pleasant breeze, they go to Koh Tarutao or Koh Maak.

And others, that's the Samui folks, prefer beaches with commercialism up to a certain degree. Chaweng and Lamai are the middle way between Patong and Koh Tarutao and the other Samui beaches are more Koh Tarutao than even Karon.

    To each his own beach

And how long do you think it will stay that way?

  10. it's gone silent we all know that. btw,phi phi = fi fi island . when can Thai People standardize the English version of Thai like Kanji and PinYin? F******ck.

Really? It's pronounced Pee Pee by every Thai and Farang I know, not Fi Fi.... much like Phuket is pronounced Poo-Ket and not Fuk-et...

The largest group of people in the world pronounce Phuket as Fuket for your information. So you are wrong.

    Is that a fact? :(

Thank you. With so much useful information, my life is so much better now laugh.png

    Ok back to topic,

I was talking about an airport project on the west coast of Phangan. Like you said I have only very few posts on this forum so you could have found out easily that I was not talking about any construction site on the east coast.

I had initially wondered how likely is an actual realization so I never claimed that I know much about the background to this topic. That's why I came hear to find out more from people like you that live on this island for long time and probably know a lot moresmile.png
