  1. Does anyone think I’m gonna have any issues on my next visit in a couple of weeks.

My previous passport pre-2014 had non Imm b visa extensions and a few visa exempts.

In my current UK passport which I started using in 2014 had non-Imm B visa extensions until end of April 2016 when I stopped teaching. I then went for a short trip to Malaysia then back to Thailand beginning of May for a couple of weeks on visa exempt before moving back to England.

Then in August same year 2016, I came for a 2 week holiday on a tourist visa.

In 2017 i entered Thailand for a holiday with a visa exempt for about a week at the beginning of June, then went to Cambodia for a few days, then back into Thailand for another week on a visa exempt. Both for holiday purposes.

Going to Thailand at the beginning of June this year for a holiday, arriving at bkk airport. Looking at using the visa exempt option for 10 days then I’m flying to South Korea to see a friend then flying back to Thailand, arrive at don muang, entering on a visa exempt for a week. Both entries for holiday purposes only.

It’s been a year since my last visit and Ive never overstayed.

I wasn’t worried at all after being reassured a couple of month ago on this forum but i guess this thread has made me worry slightly.

I’d rather not have to go through the hassle of getting a tourist visa as it’s not long until I fly and I don’t want any unnecessary grief such as passport gone missing during application process or visa processing delay etc.

    Cheers for your thoughts :)

  2. Hi, I was wondering if someone would be able to advise me.

I have s British passport. I last entered Thailand on a visa exempt at the end of June last year for a holiday. I will be returning at the beginning of June this year, then exiting for a short trip to South Korea, then back to Thailand again mid June. All for holiday purposes.

I was looking at using visa exemption option for both entries this year, then realised it would actually be 3 times within a 12 month period if I count last year. Am I likely to face any issues with immigration?

    Thank you :)

  3. Hi everyone, was hoping someone would be able to advise me.

Ive got a British passport and am looking at a 2 week holiday in Thailand later this year, with a few days in Cambodia in between.

would be looking at entering Thailand on a visa exempt and then about a week later fly to Cambodia. After a few days I'm planning to fly back into Thailand again for the remainder of the holiday and again entering on a visa exempt. I'll have proof of onward flights for everything.

Am i likely to encounter any problems from Thai immigration at the airport  for entering twice in a short space of time on visa exemptions?

    thank you :)

  4. Hello all,

I know this has probably been done to death but I've had a look on the forum and can't see anything recently about it. I've also searched online and am getting conflicting results.

I will have a single entry tourist visa from London embassy in my British passport.  Is it a requirement to have proof of an onward journey to enter Thailand?

Will the check in staff at uk airport request one? Or is it unnecessary?

    Many thanks,

    jay

  5. I've now got over it, but it cheesed me off most of yesterday.

It's one of those situations where I really didn't want to jeopardise my entry into Thailand so had to put up with it..

If it would have happened on my departure then I may have pulled her up on it as would have nothing to lose.

Anyway, that was yesterday, now time for the beach :)

  6. How terribly upsetting.

    Are you ok ?

You are right mate... It's ok to treat visitors like total shit
Correct if you've been here as long as you say you must have realised this already, you'll get over it.

One weekend back in May of 2014 I had a similar thing happen in Tesco Lotus Phetchabun, the check out assistant had the cheek to give my change to my girlfriend, astonishing behaviour,it was as if I wasn't even there even though I paid the bill, talk about discrimination.

Of course I'm gonna get over it... Just venting..

Are you over it yet ?

That check out scene is still fresh in my memory,it's the stuff of expat nightmares I tell ya.

Haha you have put it in perspective.. I got the 30 days which is what I wanted..

    Was just furious haha

  8. Evening all.

My situation in short.. Was living and teaching in Thailand for the last 3 and a half years, quit my job on good terms and got a letter from my school confirming my date of departure was the same date I left Thailand.. No problem leaving.

My plan.. Fly to Penang (I've done Laos, etc), had a great 3 days in Penang.. Didn't want a visa, but had to leave Thailand as my non b expired.

Got a flight back in under the visa exempt (UK passport). I flew back into Thailand at Krabi from Penang via KL.

Immigration lady studied my passport ( I had letter from my school if necessary)... She stamped it and then literally threw my passport at the counter towards me!

And no I wasn't being over sensitive, it was a total forceful launch of my passport back at me!

Before anyone starts I looked smart casual... Medium length shorts, long sleeve shirts etc... She stamped my passport (most important thing), then threw it at me.

I've never overstayed.. I've been in Thailand 5 years on the correct visas so I know she was not an example of Thai immigration... But imagine if I was new to the country... Get your passport thrown at you!!!!!!

Edit for clarification: 3.5 years teaching. 1.5 years beforehand on and off tourist visas..

  9. They need a stamp? Are you sure? I got my new uk passport in 2014 whilst in uk, I got an ex colleague who is also a JP to counter sign the application and sign 1 of 2 photos, because I do look different from the photo in my previous photo.. Didn't need a stamp. And if you look recognisable to your old passport photo then you don't even need a counter signatory

  10. i have acquired an automated reaction i am not even consciously aware of doing it. if my space is impinged in any way my hand goes straight to my wallet and stays there till the space is clear

have i ever succumbed? yes once possibly twice both by girl of advanced repute. i didnt feel my space was being impinged. they do staring and murmur while stinking their hand in your pocket.

unsuccessful attempt by various other characters, too may to remember.

Same. If I'm walking through a busy area my hands naturally go into my pockets, making wallet and phone pretty much impossible to be stolen

They can be stolen quite easily in that situation, there are plenty of ways for pickpockets to get your attention where you may have to use your hands.

Anyone walking slowly in ie, a crowded market, with their hand, or hands, in their pockets is a bit of a giveaway to a professional pickpocket.

Please explain how, when I have, and keep, my hands on my cash in my pocket that a thief can grab it?

    hasn't happened so far!!

That is just the thing, keeping your hands on your cash in your pocket. Suppose someone near you collapses and says "help me", or something similar, the first

thing you are going to do is try and help, and what do you do with your hands? There are plenty of ways for pickpockets to distract you.

It has never happened to me either, but is not to say it can't.

I never said it can't, I was merely saying that I walk with my hands in my pockets when walking through crowded areas haha

Maybe if the gang of thieves contains ladyboy's and they go after your crown jewelry, thus separating you hands from you money to protect your innocence.

Then the other member (who is not going near your member) relieves you of your currency.

These gangs work in mysterious and cunning ways.

I agree with you. I'm just saying when walking through a large crowd, if it's a choice between hands in pockets or not, then I choose to have my hands in pockets.

I know which way makes me feel more secure.

Good point. Next time I'm in a crowded area I'll keep my hands above my head and my pockets open

  14. As a digression I think we should all look at how Woofer had responded. Extremely courteous and polite and thanks passed on to everyone for their advice.

The man or perhaps it's a woman is a shining example of how people used to react and in a minority of cases still do react.clap2.gifwai2.gif

Agreed. Sometimes I feel like saying thank you on behalf of someone when they get a detailed, informative, and helpful response and don't have the courtesy to say thank you.

    Thanks mate!

    Hahaha :)
