  1. Quote, Luckily this thread isn't about Muslims (Sin Sling)

It is now partly aided by you smile.png

Bound to be an errant Muslim in the mix as well as the obligatory bad apple expat.

" it will eventually facilitate tourism in the area ' (isn't 10000 a month a sign that their is already tourism in the area)

I think it most kind of Wirasak to offer to build the checkpoint for only 15 million, no vested interest I'm sure as the process will be the usual open transparent kind we so often see. It's important to have a nice checkpoint as its on the tourist tick list, more aesthetically pleasing the better. knowing that 15 million had been spent on a checkpoint would mean I'd be happy to travel those extra 10km, proximity to the casino would have sod all to do with it whistling.gif

  2. Five years ago here in CNX, if there were 20 people on bikes at a stoplight during rush hour traffic, maybe 2-3 were wearing helmets. Not sure of the reasons why, but there has been, and continues to be, a rise in the number of people wearing helmets. Friday night at a busy intersections not far from my house, I counted 26 people on bikes, and only 5 of them without helmets.

Would the doubling of the fine have anything to do with it ? and are two random samples enough to draw a conclusion from ?

Suggest you record info over 30 days 5 times a day & then report back, I will be waiting biggrin.png

  3. One wonders why there is no mention of what happened to the Korean brothel owners. No doubt they have a cosy relationship with their local constabulary, and after all it is only a few Thais.

Talking of massive injustices ! seems like you have already judged the Korean police as corrupt. Do you have any facts to back up your allegation or are you just another armchair critic talking out of the bottom cushion ?

  4. Another pathetic outburst from this mindless puppet. The only salient point is that the RTP as a whole is a mediocre and poorly ran organisation. Futhdermore , he should be critisizing the justice department as they are the ones who determine whether or not there is substantive evidence to prosecute in court.

His article also suggest that the muslim populaion should be viewed in a different light in the south from their Buddhist neighbours. Whose side is he on.

How can you blame the justice department if the evidence they are presented with by the RTP is not good enough to ensure a fair chance of conviction ? What are you on ?

So we treat Muslims the same as the Christians in the rest of the world, of course they will be treated differently, ever heard of the Jihad or Sharia law ? The fundamentalists trying to change the law of the land they are in, who is going to sit by and let that happen. Just look at recent history.

  5. A Female sitting in the front of a taxi ! I wouldn't suggest that for any female anywhere in the world.... It's not like China is the safest country for females surely she must have been lacking in the brains dept. Not that that makes the alleged offence any less serious but come on, talk about putting yourself in harms way.

They stopped for fuel a number of times why did she not get help then ? something doesn't smell right here which is possibly why the police brought both in for questioning.

Still no matter if he is guilty or not being Thai and a taxi driver has already judged him guilty in the Thaivisa armchair defectives (no I didn't mean detectives this time !)

Re the cultural thing...when travelling in foreign countries, especially alone it would have been prudent for her to understand the culture that is basically worldwide when it comes to travelling safely in taxis. Maybe male taxi drivers in china are eunuchs ?

  6. Simply unbelievable, even in this country.

Attempted murder, wounding and the prison term is less than you'd get for slandering someone.

The legal system here is the absolute pits.

<deleted>.... this must be a joke ! if not, please everybody, let this go viral around the globe, even to Mars and the Moon so that future tourists there are aware better to stay in space instead to go to the banana kingdom, named Thailand, land of bribes and corruption... sad.png

We know its a banana republic, that's why lots of us like it :) yep we love bananas

  7. Bulldog Yoobumroong will be up and biting some ankles

I think they give him a new stick to chomp down on every morning these days.

Shouldn't the headline read "Southern Thailand................ prone area"

Little bit skewed to state the whole country.

    Why ?

Do we see news report of terrorist attacks in north Afghanistan or do they just say Afghanistan ? Why then do you expect a headline saying Southern Thailand, its not a separate country.

  8. CSP construction are good and reliable.. not the cheapest but they do a good job

i agree,ex police inspector from manchester . honest and reliable

Another wannabe constructor from the description.

Surprised the company isn't called CPS :)

Another wannabe constructor ? you can tell that from the description ? Cool...........whistling.gif

I do wonder though what expertise a policeman brings to the building process & the idea that because he was a policeman that makes him honest ...lol

Only advice is go see other jobs the builder has completed to see the quality and ask the customers if they were satisfied.

" But why should this poll be about Russkie? In case you didn't know, this forum is about Pattaya, Thailand. There shouldn't be a poll about Russkie and the Russian tourists should learn Thai.

A few months ago I had a great chat with a Russian in Thai, while waiting at Chonburi Immigration. Under no reason it should it have been in Russian! We're not in Russia. It would be a different story of course, if I we were in Russia. Then and only then, should I learn Russian! "

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Are you a moderator able to dictate Thaivisa policy on what is posted on the forum ? No, then what right have you to say what should or shouldn't be posted here ?

Yes the Forum is about Pattaya (my your astute) and there are a lot of Russians here (in case you had not noticed) so perhaps that's why the OP uploaded a poll.

Why should 2 week tourists learn Thai ? if the Thais want to benefit from Russian money then they should learn Russian. Thai is useless language outside of Thailand so not a lot of incentive for people to learn unless living here. Do you forget that the customer is always king in a business that wishes to succeed ?

  10. Why aren't we prosecuting the people who give the bribes as well? People take the fact that they can for granted.

I have had my fair share of people trying to bribe me on the job and record every converstion. I only ever charged one. I was working in an area with a high Indian and Asian population (University close by) This particular guy tried to bribe me and after two warnings he came with the line "take the money and go buy yourself some nice doughnuts and a coffee" Apparently he thought Australian and American cops were the same. Aussie cops don't eat doughnuts. It was ok to try and bribe but never insult an aussie cop.

Yeah, guess if he'd offered you a few tinnies or Barbie meat you would have taken them.

Insult an auzzie cop ? it would go right over his head.

  11. Seems to me the man did the best he could with what he has. "nothing"

On the other hand the demonstrators had no business there. The convention is not about the mismanagement of Thailand's money in water management. They are attempting to derail uit from it's real purpose of the whole Asia Pacific water management.

Any thing positive that can come out of the convention should be allowed to come forth. Not skipped over because a group of people want to derail it for their own ends. If they feel strongly about it why don't they hold their demonstrations in front of Parliament when it is in session. This whole convention is about Asia Pacific water management it goes a lot farther than just Thailand. Maybe some positive ideas will come out of it.

Yes it is the peoples right to demonstrate but it is also their right to vote stop taking bribes and vote the best man in.

Here in Chiang Mai they have closed the schools down in an effort to make it look like Chiang Mai has no problems with traffic. rubbish. Speaking of looks how many people will consider using Chiang Mai for there convention if every one of them is harassed by protestors.

Who cares if they don't hold summits in Chang Mai, as you say the traffic there is already bad without adding to it.

Obviously you feel its ok for red shirts to protest wherever they like but not other groups ? you sound like a government misguided troll

  12. Tanks are a must ! Loss of mains water is not that unusual for us in Jomtien happened at least 4 times this year already. we notice very quickly as our tanks soon get used as there are 20 units drawing off them

One time the excuse given us was a damaged mains pipe in Sattahip so maybe some of Pattaya's water comes from there.

Our property in Huay Yai doesn't have mains water, ours is purchased from a local farmer although we have well water for non drinking use.
