The aircon thing causes friction between me and my gf..

She turns it on.. i turn it off.. she turns it on.. i turn it off..

I hide the handset and she gets moody. And she is coming over to stay less and less now

I was going to say something sarcastic but it's uncalled for and unnecessary so I wont bother.

  2. Why not pay some Thais to clean it up every night? Pay them by the pound and that beach would be spotless (assuming you can keep an eye on them so they only get it from the beach). They would get a return on that money 1000x. Does much more damage to the cities reputation than street workers which is still a reason for a lot of the tourism like it or not.

Seriously this is a brilliant idea.

  3. If this man is arrested twice and released twice with no obvious punishment I believe it will increase his power over other motorcycle taxi drivers. It would be easy for him to say something like, "Ha, they cannot keep me or punish me. I am too powerful." Quite possibly making others more scared of him.

If he is guilty they should punish him severely to set a precedent and allow others to see justice is working.

Punishment by making him ride a pink fino on his taxi round whilst sporting a borat swimsuit for a month.

  4. Never invest money in Thailand that you are not willing and able to walkaway from.

This has to be the most condescending phrase ever that pops up every now and then on TV.

It's as if Thailand is unique to any other place on planet earth that when investing in something one has to way up the pros and cons of whatever that investment might be. rolleyes.gif

condescending, superfluous and ignorant because it applies to any investment coffee1.gif

    Exactly my point, thank you.

  6. Now im waiting for the answers. In another thread i ask this question and many Grandpas answered. "Get an ED Visa and learn the language", "Thailand not want you here", "Buy the elite card", "Work legally", but there is no way at the moment to stay a longer time 6 month+ in Thailand for people under 50. I dont know why. I have the same problem. Have enough money but not want to buy the expensive elite card.(there can be also problems because a visa is not always a entrie to Thailand even with a elite card)

Yes, that's the same answer these fossilized geezers can only come up with, over and over again, quite frankly worse than a effin broking record.

I see your point exactly, have well enough to satisfy the monthly / yearly funds required but don't find any of the other options appealing and all that is in the way is this ridiculous again restriction. Does anyone see a difference between a 40 - 49 year old who wont qualify as opposed to a 50+ year old.???

I see no reason why if you can show a decent sum of money they can't at least issue you a 1 entry 90 non-imm visa??

Thailand would most probably benefit much more from the 35 - 49's who would have made it financially if they are returning around this age bracket than the majority 50+ living on a measly pension.

WOW! How crasss your comment was regarding the over 50's not benefiting Thailand because they are living on measly pensions. Oh Contraire! Scribber of ill will. Just look on the TV ads on here most of the luxury houses and condo's for sale were or are owned by the over 50 crowd who also own restaurants and bars here as well. Many marry and begin construction right away of what could be likened to mansions in their home countries and many more begin the commercialization of the farmland never used before by the families or villages they adopt. GET REAL.

Yes and many (in fact quite a few!) end up losing the lot once the said "mansion" is built. After a year or two of putting up with old misery guts and his pompous self important attitude he's very quickly tossed from the hammock where hes been given orders to the 'slaves' for a year or two and kicked to the curb once the last bit of furniture is moved in and the new shiny black Fortuner is ready to collect from Toyota..... all in the womans name of course.
