WHO did not approve it yet but it is already approved in Thailand. Most other vaccins seem to take awhile to get approval, which private hospitals are desperately waiting for to get started with their own purchases.

Its just a matter of time before a tragedy happens with Daily Rental anywhere in the world. Short term stayers that are being put in accomadations completely unknown to them. No safety regulations or insurance. No proper fire alarms, sprinkler- or other firefighting systems and no properly trained staff on site to evacuate them. Sad but unavoidable.

I am not sure i understand why 'normal' chinese tourists need multiple entry visas? They come here by group tours or with family, stay much less then 30 days to go back home and start working again.
The only people benefitting from this are possible long stayers and more scammers. In the meantime (farang) real spenders are being refused by the dozens.

All those quality tourists coming from china ????
Many come here to steal and cheat.
Illegal daily rentals, Skimmers, review rings, creditcard fraud, illegal touroperators etc etc
Bad guys out, good guys in wasn't it?

If I rented a room online and found out that I needed a fake fingerprint to get in, I think I'd find somewhere else to stay.
You'll be amazed how far those short term tourists are willing to go for the 'owner' of the facility they are renting. The most common thing we are hearing in our village is that they are 'friends' or 'family' of the owner.
These people are all ignorant.
They have no clue how dangerous it is what they doing. God forbid a fire ever breaks out in those illegal airbnb/daily rental places condo or house. Most of them are very cheaply and quickly renovated because 6-16 people have to be housed for a couple of nights.
Imagine how the electricity system can get easily overloaded with the way things are build here. If something happens, the 'tourist' will be left completely in the dark. No insurances, no official licenses or governmental bodies to complain to or get help from. In the meantime Airbnb and Booking.com(expedia) are laughing all the way to the bank ????I don't think it matters how many dead tourists this country produces every year. This government will never get of its Behind. Mai Bpen Rai right?

Well he'd better start building a lot of new prisons then and hire enough new police officers to arrest the 10 million or so polluting drivers in this beautiful country.

Malaysia does eye scanning, what is the difference??
I have also been thumb and forefinger printed entering and leaving another country, cannot recall which though.
Surely the airline could assist and hand passengers an information card explaining the procedure in several languages?
I prefer iris scanning over finger prints. Goes very quick and its impossible to 'frame' you for anything. Finger prints can be 'placed' anywhere, its impossible to just place my eyes anywhere ????

And exactly how safe are our privacy details in the hand of this government?
How sure can we be they are not storing them on a few 'floppy drives' and leave them laying around somewhere. The data might be easily accessible to hackers. When in the wrong hands such data could be 'framing' you for anything in the future.
But thankfully we can rest assured. This is the Thai government so we need not worry about anything ????

...until then, your 3000 baht fan room will probably have nothing to worry about.
But whatabout 'us' the neigbours? Do we have any rights left having spent significant money on renting/buying our condos/houses and than somebody decides to make a 'hotel' room next- or above you? If i wanted to live in a hotel with loud obnoxious enthousiastic holiday makers(wherever they come from) i would have bought myself a suite in the Hilton or such ????

As it is illegal maybe arresting and charging the owners might be a start?
The problem is that the government does basically nothing even you complain with them several times. That then means the juristic has to fork out community money to hire a lawyer and possible sueing those owners responsible for illegal daily rental. That could take betnween 6-12 months to get a first 'mediation' seating and god knows how long it takes after that to get some results. Than it will be very difficult to recover your expenses from the party you are sueing. There are quite a few 'cheeky' owners out there both thai and farangs who know this to well and just continue their business and some of them growing like crazy. Serious money is to be made here. In our village prices of between 6000-8000 baht per day is no exception.

This should have a ripple effect on areas in Thailand where low waged pensioners are residing. Who will live in the 7000-15000 baht shophouse floors/condos/apartments if those people cannot afford to live here anymore.
Many thais live here on 9000 baht incomes, so i really do not understand why they want the farangs outta here that can do it on 40000-64000 baht per month without having huge savings in the bank. I fully understand why low waged pensioners would wanna stay here. Cheap food, beer, nice weather, women, no 3 piece suits with heavy raincoat needed, etc. etc.
Thailand what is your chosen destiny. Where are you going?

Daily rental is illegal in Thailand without proper hotel license so how can this be 'good' news?
-
Kudos though for these people anticipating on future problems. If they would have done this more on many other subjects in the last 3 decades this country would have been in a much better shape.

Boom time for the 'happy few' i am afraid.
Many people have gotten their land taken rather cheap because of the new high way and now it all starts again with the EGAT wanting to plant transmission lines through residential areas because Utapao and such need their electric juice.

Thailand burns all its garbage still out in the open and pollutes the heck out of itself in many other way. How about the traffic deaths, teenage pregnancies and mosquito related diseases? One would think that there are so many more important priorities before spending heavily on renewing military materials without any serious threats for ages.
I feel so sorry for Thailand.

It is a disgrace in many places around Pattaya how people have to cross the street.
Pattaya beach road, the crossing at walking street, Second Road, Thappraya where it meets Thepprasit and i am sure all of us can think of many many more.
These are our guests, why isn't Pattaya municipality taking much better care of them?
At Ambassador there is a crossover bridge however just about 50 meters up from the main entrance, but hardly anybody uses it. Ambassador security just keeps sending people over that road. Why not close that crossing off completely for people being able to walk and only keep it open and safe to cross for the elderly and less abled.........

Maybe a crowdfunding project to get the dengue mosquito problem solved through an institute like www.oxitec.com could help this moving in Thailand.
Does anybody know a suitable platform besides https://www.sinwattana.com
Thanks for any input !
-
I seriously do not understand this 'government'
So many things can be done on the (burning) garbage problems, traffic deaths and disease spreading mosquitos.
All it takes is some common sense and a will to protect its people.
There is an institution that can help fight mossies by putting out genetically modified species to prevent them from reproducing themselves as they will only produce unfurtile eggs.
Sad to see this beautiful and rich(in resources) country getting nowhere.
-
There is a very good solution for targeting any kind of mosquito by genetically manipulating them in their reproduction abilities.
This institute tampers with the genes after which they are not fertile anymore.
I had forwarded this information more then a year ago to the health ministry but never got any response back.

Thailand steps up efforts to attract more expats

Hmmmm..... I did just that Mr Prayut. I came here after I married my thai wife. We bought a house, and some land to make a village to retire from. Then EGAT came in 2017 and said we are going to put a tower and a transmission line right through the middle of it. It is almost 2022 and we still haven't received any compensation. Almost broke we had no other choice to return to Europe now. But thank you for taking such good care of the 'expats'!
