If I rented a room online and found out that I needed a fake fingerprint to get in, I think I'd find somewhere else to stay.

You'll be amazed how far those short term tourists are willing to go for the 'owner' of the facility they are renting. The most common thing we are hearing in our village is that they are 'friends' or 'family' of the owner.

    These people are all ignorant.
They have no clue how dangerous it is what they doing. God forbid a fire ever breaks out in those illegal airbnb/daily rental places condo or house. Most of them are very cheaply and quickly renovated because 6-16 people have to be housed for a couple of nights.
Imagine how the electricity system can get easily overloaded with the way things are build here. If something happens, the 'tourist' will be left completely in the dark. No insurances, no official licenses or governmental bodies to complain to or get help from. In the meantime Airbnb and Booking.com(expedia) are laughing all the way to the bank ????

I don't think it matters how many dead tourists this country produces every year. This government will never get of its Behind. Mai Bpen Rai right?

Malaysia does eye scanning, what is the difference??

I have also been thumb and forefinger printed entering and leaving another country, cannot recall which though.

Surely the airline could assist and hand passengers an information card explaining the procedure in several languages?

I prefer iris scanning over finger prints. Goes very quick and its impossible to 'frame' you for anything. Finger prints can be 'placed' anywhere, its impossible to just place my eyes anywhere ????

  3. And exactly how safe are our privacy details in the hand of this government?

How sure can we be they are not storing them on a few 'floppy drives' and leave them laying around somewhere. The data might be easily accessible to hackers. When in the wrong hands such data could be 'framing' you for anything in the future.

But thankfully we can rest assured. This is the Thai government so we need not worry about anything ????

  4. Thailand burns all its garbage still out in the open and pollutes the heck out of itself in many other way. How about the traffic deaths, teenage pregnancies and mosquito related diseases? One would think that there are so many more important priorities before spending heavily on renewing military materials without any serious threats for ages.

I feel so sorry for Thailand.

  5. It is a disgrace in many places around Pattaya how people have to cross the street.

Pattaya beach road, the crossing at walking street, Second Road, Thappraya where it meets Thepprasit and i am sure all of us can think of many many more.

These are our guests, why isn't Pattaya municipality taking much better care of them?

At Ambassador there is a crossover bridge however just about 50 meters up from the main entrance, but hardly anybody uses it. Ambassador security just keeps sending people over that road. Why not close that crossing off completely for people being able to walk and only keep it open and safe to cross for the elderly and less abled.........

  6. I seriously do not understand this 'government'

So many things can be done on the (burning) garbage problems, traffic deaths and disease spreading mosquitos.

All it takes is some common sense and a will to protect its people.

There is an institution that can help fight mossies by putting out genetically modified species to prevent them from reproducing themselves as they will only produce unfurtile eggs.

Sad to see this beautiful and rich(in resources) country getting nowhere.
