  1. Unfortunately the way society has gone, ask most young people in UK what they want to do when they finish their education & the boys say footballer or gamer & the girls influencer or Vloger, none wanna get up & do a days work. We've bred a generation of lazy gits. I, like most my age, started work at 16, here I am at 58 still working my butt off, only way I know how to earn money.

  2. Nothing stays the same, you have to change with it, or move on. I moved to my current location in the London suburbs 21 years ago, it was deemed a middle class area, 21 years on, it's no different from the area I moved from. I first visited Thailand 16 years ago, it's a very very different place these days, some of the changes are for the better, but most are not. Will I still retire there, who knows, I'll revisit that at the time.

  3. I think the sad part of the story is,

she was expecting to go to Germany, do nothing but sit on her arse all day & still send money home to the family.

I met My wife here in the UK, she came with the minimum amount of money for her stay, luckily she was staying with a relative, as the money she brought, was gone in days.

So when she came to live here full time, she was well aware of prices & what you have to do to survive.

She tells as many girls as will listen, what living in London is all about, as most of her friends work in TV & film & although work long hours, have a rather charmed life in LOS.

When there, like most of her friends, she didn't cook, ate out every meal, didn't wash & iron clothes, caught taxi's everywhere, had a great social life, what a shock it would have been if she hand't holidayed here first.

Luckily My wife was a Trained hairdresser, b4 She got her degree  (which is neigh on worthless here in the UK) so she had a career to full back on, many of the girls that go abroad, don't even have a decent level of education & a very poor grasp of the native language, so can only get very poorly paid jobs, what with getting their heads round the poor weather, it's got to be a massive shock to the system & puts a strain on a young marriage.

I could go on & on & on, but it'll be no different from what you all know & have experienced for yourselves

  4. OK Bule in Indonesia means albino, so not very nice.

My wife was doing an exam in the UK, to be able to serve alcohol, the woman conducting the test was a middle class thai, educated at one of the two top university's in Thailand, in conversation, I asked her was she married to a farang, she proceed to give me a tongue lashing, telling me to not use words that were derogatory & learn the meaning of words before I used them. She also said, only uneducated Thais would use such words,I didn't tell her that my wife worked for one of the biggest TV firms in Thailand & all her colleagues, all university educated, use the term, as I've spent time at the film ? studios.

So safe to say, I'm still none the wiser lol

  5. Another nail in the coffin for Thai tourism,

cause you're gonna go back to a country that takes you off their streets & questions you, for not carrying the most important document you have whilst on holiday.

We all know the next one, people turning up at the airport for their return flights home, passport less, either lost or stolen, as they didn't want to get picked up by the police again.

    Laughable really.

  6. This is just not funny,

far too much of it going on, people wanting their 5 seconds of fame, knowing these sort of antics will end up on you tube & be viewed by thousands.

It's like the Arab with the ruck sack, funny as <deleted>, whilst watching it, but wrong in so many ways.

As someone pointed out in an earlier post, not good for the restaurant owner.

    .

You learn something new every day, Russians with a sense of humour, what ever next LOL

  7. We were out Sunday, with two other Thai/Farang couples, it went up in 10's, I'm 10 years older then My wife, the next guy was 20 years & the last guy 30 years older then his wife, made no difference what so ever.

Like any relationship, only time will tell which of the 3 relationships will work & which won't, all I know is at 49, I couldn't see My'self being in a relationship with a 19 year old, but hey that's just Me.

  8. In London,

We are waiting for it, just have to keep vigilant & try to make sure you're not in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Back on 7th July 2005, We just dusted ourselves down & carried on, I was back on the underground the day it reopened, can't let these fools change or stop what We do.

My wife's friend was supposed to be coming to us for Christmas, but My wife put her off "too dangerous", if it were Me I'd still come, but that's just Me.

The problem is, how do We stop the problem, or can We ?

They're going to have a field day in France next summer for the Euro Football finals, Ireland find out their fate later today & the wife wanted to go, she doesn't now !

Europe's on a rocky path, has been for a long time, My question is where is she going to be in 10 years from now, an Islamic state ? Bankrupt ? not looking forward to it, that's for sure.

    Keep safe people

  9. It's all about money,

I'm sure when My wife met Me here in London, if I were stacking shelves at the local supermarket & lived in a bedsit, it wouldn't have gone very far.

It matters little that She's Thai, woman world wide want financial security, the financial crash here a few years back, saw long term seemingly stable marriages go tits up very quickly once the money stopped coming in.

A survey carried out here in the UK a good few years back, said the average women under 30, wanted a Tall dark hansom man, living with his own 3 bed semi, driving a BMW or Mercedes, minimum earnings of £50,000, way above the common man in the UK.

It's life the world over, for sure the bar girls, mostly married to have a better life for themselves & their family's, but lets not think for one minute a middle class Thai girls going to Marry a farang that stack shelves back in his native country.

  10. Morning guys, first up apologies if this is in wrong section

Currently sub contracting in London & the UK for an IT company, I do all there Data Cable & Fibre work & all their electrical installs , have done for the past 6 years.

Four installs have come up in the far east, one of which is Bangkok ( KL, HK & Singapore, being the other 3)

My question is, what are the chances of getting a work permit ? I have a family member that I can employ to help with the install, so will be employing a local.

Also the IT company will be looking for IT support once the office is up & running, if any of us on here do that sort of thing.

    Thanx a million guys

    Lee
