  1. Great result for Norwich this weekend...doesnt look like Man U will be dominating like they did during the 90's. Can see anyone else dominating the premiership except Chelsea! With their unlimited budget they can just keep buying up new talent as it emerges..

...although i am sure the mighty THFC will be challenging soon enough!

  2. No doubting the graeat mangerial skills of Mourinho but his ranting and moanings have brought the game into a farcical state...referees retiring, threats to sue UEFA representatives etc...its just getting ridiculous. Its all starting to get a bit tiresome...

He certainly likes the siege mentality. First it was Chelsea vs the rest ot football and now it is just Mourinho vs the rest of football!

  3. Things change so fast around here...Al lthe Thai crowd couldnt get enough of Thong Lor a while back, but now those places seem very quiet. Slim and Flix are rocking at the moment...too packed over the weekends.

Code which is also in RCA has the deal of pay 400 baht and drink as much as you want...i think ladies go for free and possibly drink for free too...(not sure about the last one though) Despite this still doesnt seem to get that packed out...not to the extent of Slim but Code is much smaller

  4. I used to work for the Sheraton and all of the outlets there are good to eat. The Orchid Cafe buffet is great, one of th best i have been to although the one at the Banyah tree is also good.

V9 in the Sofitel Silom is also worth a visit. Of all the hotel hangouts this one is the best in my opinion. Great location, nice decor and atmosphere too. The wine is supplied by a company called the Wine Connection and they have a fantastic range there...

  5. I think that was true a while back but places like Code, Slim and Flix are attracting a slightly older, less teeny bopper crowd these days. I hear Route 66 ok for a night out too. Plus if you really dont like it in these places you can takeyour pick from Forte or the Art house cinema there...has a nice cafe in it!

  6. The flowers2thailand website does look quite impressive. I think i will just go with that this time and see how it turns out. Not my gf...just some one who i quite like. I hope the flowers do the trick otherwise i think it might be a lost cause!

  7. Being under 30...(just and only for a few more months) i was always going for the younger Thai ladies, jealousy, too many by issues.... so i have been single for a while now.

Met a 32 year old Thai lady through friends over the weekend, well educated, looks about 25, very good sense of humour...and has vcertianly got my interest. Tested the water a little bit and unfortunaltely she doesnt seem that keen! Maybe i am too young for her?!

  8. Pick up a golf magazine called "Bogey" and then you will really see how golf has transcended age, race, gender and social-economic status. Has some great layouts in it....

I know they stock it in most bookstores...i have seen it in bookstores in the Emporium but i know our resident DJ doesnt like it in there....

  9. When i first came to Bangkok I started work in a Japanese company that had a mix of Thai, Japanese and a couple of Farangs working there. All the Thai staff thought i was Japanese and the Japanese staff thought i was Thai and none of them believed that i was actually English!!

My roots are Taiwanese but i was born and grew up in England. Most people here think I am Japanese and some of the looks i get when i start speaking in perfect English alwasy make me smile to myself...

The only problem i get is when i go out to a restaurant with my farang mates and when the waitress catn understand them she turns to me and starts speaking in super fast Thai...little does she know that my Thai is about the same level as theirs!!

  10. My first Thai gf cheated on me and lied to me from the start of us going out...she even lied out things like having no money where in fact she had far more money that i had, lied about the ring worn on her wedding finger that she 'bought for herself' (yes she was engaged to some Thai guy at the time) Her English was reasonable and my Thai was ok...

Ok I was a bit naive in believing her but i dont think her cheating had anything to do with my Thai not being perfect or not fully understading the culture. There are just women around who will cheat regardless...

  11. I miss snowboarding on the lightly snow dusted artificial ski slopes!! but i guess Japan is not too far away! It would be nice to be able to wear more than 1 layer of clothing sometimes but since i am off to China for the new year i guess that will happen!

    Merry Xmas everyone!

  12. I have been to silom and when i show them a foreign id card, either chinese or english they let me through with no problems. I have had problems with some Thai places though, mainly Escudo in Thong Lor. I went there one week with no problems and back again the following week and they wouldnt let me in without my real passport, not even a copy would do.

I tried to explain that i was here just the week before but the guy on the door was having none of it. I didnt have my passport at my home anyway since my company had hold of it to sort out my work permit stuff.

It does depend on where you go...I was convinced the guy on the door just didnt want to let me in. Simple as that. A copy of your passport is enough and if it wont get you in then i think its best to go somewhere else...plenty of good bars in bkk.

  13. I am off to China for new Year and i have my visa and work permit in good order. I have to renew then next May.

I know that if i dont get a re-entry stamp in my passport my visa and work permit will be cancelled upon entering Thailand. I just wanted to know if it is possible to get this stamp at the airport or will i have to get it done at immigration? If i can get it at the airport then where is the counter and are there certain opening times?

    Thanks
