  1. Personally, i think this is the first positive sign for an end so far. I hope it works and Thailand can move forward. Its stressful for all concerned. I also have to comment, that normally i only read the live updates, cos some people opinions on these topics annoy me and probably alot of other people too. There seems to be alot of know it all farangs posting crap about Thailand. We are mearly guests in this country. Yet people seem to have some very extreme opinions about this situation. We all have our opinions sure. But we are not Thai. We can provide encouragement and advice. Not slag off this and that person who are involved in this political crisis. I have been here for 12 years and know to keep my mouth shut on things like this. This is a very positive sign for everyone. A civil war and violence is a real possible event that might happen. So, if the reds do accept this and go home. DEE MAK MAK

  2. Abhisit has given the red shirts so much freedom of movement to block roads, and basically do whatever they want. This makes the government look like a joke. The situation i think is now out of hand. Abhisit should grow a pair of balls, and stop this soft peaceful approach. Ratchaprasong would be open again, with the help of some tear gas, and water canons. Peaceful protest I agree with, but the reds doing pretty much whatever they want!!!!! I think its time for Abhisit to get his act together, and use force to stop this mess.

  3. I have just tried to get home to ratchaprarop, ratchaprarop is blocked, tried to drive the back way and was met with a blockade on fire, eventually drove the wrong way up the road, just to get home, the protesters are now starting fires on ratchaprarop, and the police are gathered on soi rangnam, happy F@#king songkran!!!!!

  4. This whole thing is totally retarded, just like most of the people in these protests and the police. The blind leading the blind. I have been living in Thailand 11 years, and i have started to hate the red shirts to be honest. Close airports, mess up normal peoples lives in Bangkok. oh much love to your cause. i think NOT!!!!! Bring out the tear gas and let the police grow a pair of balls for god sake!!!

  5. Hi,

I am looking to send 300,000 baht back to England. I have a Siam Commerical Savings account. I'm just wondering what's the best way to send the money back? Does anyone know if i can send via bank transfer from my SCB account to my Halifax bank account in England? I do not have a work permit, and the money is from selling my car here in Bangkok. Any information on this topic would be very helpful. Thank you.

  6. Hi,

My student visa runs out next month, and I have to go back on a tourist visa for a few months, until I start my masters degree. I know it's easy to get a double entry visa for Thailand from Laos, but I have some friends going to Manila next month and would like to join them there. So, I was thinking of getting my double entry thai visa there. I read one post which was very negative about being able to get one there. I wondered if anyone had tried getting one there and what happened. Or if anyone has any first hand experience of this topic. Please let me know. Thanks alot Paul

  7. i've lived in thailand for 8 years, I'm english and i'm 32 years old, i'm starting to think it's time to start a pension, i worked for a few years in the uk, but didnt really start a pension, i do lots of part time and freelance english teaching and earn app 70000 baht a month. i want some information on good personal pension plans or offshore investments for my future retirement. because i work part time in many places i dont have a company pension offered by any of the places i work for, so i think a personal pension is best for me. if anyone could give me some advice or website addresses. i just plan to have enough to live comfortably when i retire at about 60-65 years old. i dont plan on returning to live in the uk at all, please feel free to pm or just reply, your replies are most welcome to point me in the right direction, thanks very much paul

  8. You kind of guessed right, they are indeed for aircraft!!!

Obviously they're not for low flying boeings, nor even for the small cessna's and pipers.

There are however every so often helicopters flying around, most big hotels/hospitals even have a helipad on the roof.

The red lights are installed to help the chopper pilots avoid these obstacles.

Legally however they are just for "aircraft" in general...

  9. just a quick and maybe random question...

when i look over bangkok at night most buildings have red flashing lights on the top of them. i just wondered if anyone knew the reason for this?? im sure its not for low flying aircraft cos there everywhere, its kinda pretty, but any other possible reason.

  10. its a crazy world we live in, and the stereotypes people make without any intention too, muslims are normal people and i think that the news and media, should not tie these attacks to muslims cos its not true, muslims are the same as anyone else, but if the media didnt use the term muslims in with terrorism, people wouldnt think so much about its being a religious issue connected with them. people say its wont effect them and their daily lives, but i disagree, i just think

  11. i was talking with my friends today, and the terrible things that were happening in london, and we were talking about how the public will react. london is a very multi cultural city, but for example if you were sitting on a bus or subway train and an asian muslim gets on and hes wearing a backpack, how likely are you to think he might have a bomb in his bag? and decide to get off the bus or tube? people shouldnt change their lifestyle cos of terrorists but its going to affect how people think, which is sad, cos normal muslims have nothing to do with these outrageous attacks.

  12. i guess from the replies that it seems we hear nothing about this cos the government doesnt have the money to solve the problem, or its low on their list of things to do. i understand that, i guess thats the way of things, deal with it when things start getting bad, but its sad to see its only a rumour and not fact, and yes its true not only for bkk, but many other cities, maybe taksin will move bkk to the khorat plato,(wrong spelling im sure), or maybe we should all buy condos in issan! so from what everyone says the sea level is rising, bangkok sinking.so now its gobal issue, maybe too much for only a bkk forum :o

  13. yes i agree thais are generally peaceful but their are many mainly family feuds, which can grow and clause problems, generally dont get involved but if something serious is happening anyone in their right mind would have to take action, thailand is very safe for us farangs, its certainly more safe than western countries, im sad to see many westerns treat thailand the same as other holiday destinations
