  1. One thing I would recommend is turbinate reduction. It takes about 20 minutes and they use some sort of low frequency to burn and reduce the air passage,It is painless and recovery takes a week or so of having to breath through your nose while it heals. It does help and will take you off the nasal spray but it will grow back in a year or two so it's not a permanent relief, but does help. Rabvatte (not sure for spelling) at Victory Monument is excellent for ENT and low cost but it is a Government hospital so you must have a lot of patience.

  2. I had an ultrasound last week and asked the doctor to check the size of my prostrate as I have an enlarged prostrate and been told it is very large from past tests. The doctor told me I don't have an enlarged prostrate and it is normal size. I thought this can't be right and asked him to check it again. He confirmed it's normal size.

At first the medication didn't work, developed bladder stones and had them removed.Been on proscar and doxazosin the last year and it seems to have shrunk back to normal.

Anyone on medication have a similar experience and how much has your prostrate shrunk? Do you think as long as you take medication the prostrate will keep it's size. What happens if you stop medication? Does the prostrate quickly go back to it's enlarged state?

  3. Hope you reported any Thai bank account interest on your '07 and '08 Schedule B's.....

Didn't know that you have to report interest from Thai bank. I thought we are already taxed on the interest here as most banks deduct the tax before paying the interest. You must enter this on Schedule B and add it to your income? Do you have to fill out another form for foreign tax credit?

It's getting more confusing and how are you supposed to know all these things?

  4. Thanks for the replys. I didn't file a return for 2006 because I was under the required income but was asked to file it now. Filed 2007 and 2008 was my last one. Was also asked to file 2009 and 2010. When I last filed I never heard about reporting foreign accounts and checked no on schedule B. Should I know send back dated reports explaining my situarion or any other suggestions.

  5. Anyone have any experience or infomation about Americans being required to report foreign bank accounts with $10,000 (312,350 Tb) or face hefty fines and or imprisonment. This would mean any American on a marriage or retirement visa would be subject to this law. I also read that if you did not report for the last 6 years you will be fined as they are forcing banks to furnish account information on Americans.

I haven't filed a return in a few years but got a love letter from the IRS requesting a return and you must check if you have a forien bank account. As I just recentley found out about this and as most people have never reported but now it looks like we may be fined for the past years. Anyone have any more information or experience they can share.

  6. Has anyone been taking proscar and doxazosin long term and do you think surgery can be avoided?

I started out on doxazosin and after 6 months had retention and added proscar then dropped doxazosin taking only proscar and developed bladder stones. Had the bladder stones removed recently and now back on proscar and doxazosin and I would say it's 98% improved. Talked to my current doctor about having turp surgery but he told me the new thinking is to avoid surgery if the medicine works.

Would like to hear other people's experiences, advice and suggestions.

  7. I am using true internet with their modem but would now like to connect magic jack plus but my true modem has only one port. It's quite confusing as I look in the shops as ther are many brands with different speeds and specs. I saw 150 and 300 mpg speed and not sure what is the difference of brands and if speed is important. Would appreciate information fo a novice.

  8. After reading many of the responses, it reinforces my idea of the problem of many teachers seeing English as an academic subject rather than a vocational skill subject for non native students. One of the foundations of vocational education is hands on training which I believe is so critical in teaching English as a foreign language. I believe you have to get out of the class (theory) and spend at least 80% in the lab (practical application). I think it's really common sense but many teachers turn conversation into an academic subject and the dim light in the students' brain fades out.

  9. I am always amazed to see native English teachers teach conversation with a book. At the end of my last conversation class my students commented that it was the best English class they have ever taken. I asked them what's so special about my class and they said it was the first class they were able to speak.

I put them in a circle (for smaller classes) hand out some questions and give them some time to think before answering. That’s it. I correct them and give them vocabulary when needed. What they need and signed up for is conversation and they need the opportunity to use it. So many teachers still put them is small groups and walk around to monitor or teach grammar and lecture all in the name of conversation. The feedback I always get from my students about their previous classes is the teacher did more speaking then the students. I know many schools and language schools force the teacher to follow a book but I think it’s one factor why at the end of the day the students can’t speak. I have never seen a conversation book but general English books that cover many skills are used to teach conversation.

  10. Couldn't solve the problem and had to re-format. Everything is working fine now and internet connection is good. Been using Nod32 and it didn't detect any viruses but it seems like it must have been some kind of virus. Switched to Kaspersky so hope it will do better at catching viruses. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

  11. Yes it is common to all web sites and using true dns and billion modem type from true isp. and both Firefox and internet explorer browser. The technician said it is the computer problem as he tested everything and connected the lan to his laptop and I saw it worked smooth but when connected to my computer it's not a stable connection.

  12. Having problems with my internet connection. It works okay and then change a page and can't connect. Try it a few times then will connect. Close the browser and open and cannot connect until trying a few times before can open a page.

Just had the technician from true test the line and he said the line is okay and it's my computer problem. He thought it may be a virus and have to re-install windows.I scanned for viruses but none found. Anyone have any suggestions of what to do before having to re-install windows. Could it be a network connection problem and if so,what to do.

  13. Anyone have experience using and seeing a doctor at Chulalongkorn University hospital?

Went to Chula Hospital today, stood on line for 30 minutes and told by the screening nurse that I couldn't see the doctor because of a meeting. They told me they have an after hours clinic in the evenings and weekend where you can make an appointment and 420 baht to see the doctor. If I want to make an appointment to see the doctor in the morning they said I would have to wait 2 months or come to the hospital at 6 am, wait in line and take my chances. The clinic sounds good to me. Is the after hours doctors the same as the morning ones? Anyone use this hospital? It has the reputation of being one of the best.

  14. Having problems with my laptop overheating and shutting down. Bought an external fan that the laptop sits on and worked for awhile. When I do something like converting videos or something, I hear the laptop fan nosily over working, overheat and shut down. Anyone have experience with this and can the internal fan be replaced or is there something better than the 100 baht laptop fan box?
