  1. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making me a better informed PR Holder ????????????????????????. I now realize that for so many years I have been referring incorrectly to 'visa' when I should have been using 'exit and re-entry stamp'. This is my first year as a 'retiree' and having been spoiled by a large company which helped me get my 'visas' renewed each year, I never got to know the ins and outs of these renewal arrangements. Now under COVID there won't be any o/s travel so for the first year, thanks to your explanations above,  I will be an 'exit and re-entry stampLESS' alien!

    Again, many thanks

  2. I have my PR and  have always renewed my  visa in Bangkok. I now live permanently in Prachuap Khirikhan. I guess I would be able to renew my visa in Hua Hin this year. Grateful if anyone in a similar situation could share some experience of the process: Is it possible? Can forms be downloaded beforehand, how many days would one have to be in Hua Hin to get this done.... ????????????

  3. Driving south from Bangkok to Hua Hinh and further ( past Chumphon) you see serious construction work happening along existing railway lines.  You also see new buildings that are said to be new railway stations.

Some say this is just the adding of a second track all the way to the South. Others say this is for the fast train.  Grateful if anyone could clarify this.

Also, if there are details (maps, models, plans....) of this project online, great to have a link.

    Many thanks for reading

  4. I wonder if anyone out there know about the GE water softening systems now sold at big home supplies stores in Hua Hinh?

I'm looking at buying one for my house outside of Prachuap where we have ground water supply and all the hassles that go with it.  Grateful for advice - Do they work? Are they worth it? Are there any models that are better than others? Cheers

  5. Does anyone know if it's possible to rent a large (65 sq m) waterproof tarpaulin that will cover the roof of a building?

I'm having trouble with a leaking roof and this is for a temporary solution as we wait for the rainy season to end before getting the roof fixed.

    Grateful for any leads

  6. Hi all

Would anyone know of a charity in Bangkok where I can donate clothes and knickknacks - one like the St Vincent's De Paul organisation abroad? I'm doing a big clean up and have clothes, shoes, magazines, books, decorative items like ceramics to give away - all in good condition, items that I would feel bad throwing away. Very grateful for any ideas.
