  1. I have just been fooling around with a phin that was gathering dust at my girlfriend's home and would like to try and tune it properly.

However, I am not really sure what tuning I should use.

    This website suggests a e' a' / a d' a' / a a' a' / or a a' e'.

Also, the instrument I have has stickers with the notes on them, but I am pretty sure they are wrong (for example the frets marked F and G on the high string are a semi-tone apart, rather than a whole tone)

Any help would be much appreciated!

  2. thanks everyone for the help..

Boo or Towzak if you hear of a teacher in Phon willing to give one to one lessons for falang, yes please let us know!

pianoman, great of you to point that out.. I looked at the Khon Kaen forum, but somehow managed to miss that one. I have the details of the course now.

Martin. I actually contacted Katt a few days ago and she said she might be able to come and give individual lessons in Phon, however the cost would have to include her transport and time taken to arrive here of course. However if both of us are interested I guess we may be able to split some of that extra cost? I will PM you in any case because its also good to meet another falang in these parts!

  3. Hi

Apologies in advance if this has already been answered before, or/and if I am being a bit thick.

I am flying to bangkok this evening, will receive a 30 day visa on arrival (wanted to get a 60 day one in advance, but ran out of pages in my passport!), and would like to go along to get it extended by 7 days in the morning.

Can anyone tell me where the correct immigration office is in Bangkok is for this?

The official thai government website (

    http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/en/base.php?page=location

) says one place, but this website from late 2011 (

    http://onestep4ward.com/extend-thai-visa-bangkok/

) says that office is now closed and google maps gives me another location (

    http://goo.gl/maps/Z6FYE

    )

Also another official looking website mentions several offices - http://bangkok.immigration.go.th/intro1.html

    Will any of those do?

    Regards

    Jonathan

  4. Following on from my separate post about where to get a decent flat white (apologies for the duplication of topic and thanks for the replies), following one of the recommendations I found the flat whites at ristr8to really top notch, a place that seems to take coffee pretty seriously as you can see from these pictures!
