  1. This kind of situation scares me. Not the drunk driving part. It's good that he was stopped.

BUT, the fact that the (so called) police in Thailand will readily and easily discharge their firearms, often with little or no training. Have witness this many times.

I'm sure many of us would be interested in the evidence you undoubtably have that the RTP have little or no firearms training, apart from this one badly (and probably hurriedly) planned incident.

RTP have little or no firearms training

would you train if you have to pay or the ammo

spend the money on booze better

  2. One good thing is that Thailand cares so much about their global reputation I would imagine they put a lot of effort into maintaining a clean record. Cheap labour costs mean maintaining a large number of engineers is also possible. At least this is what I tell myself every time I get on board one of Thai's aging fleet.

(In all fairness the 777 ER200 I flew to NZ was a relatively new plane. dam_n hot though. No individial air-con blowers).

cheap labour cost says a lot about the engineers capability's

  3. Maybe the parents of a small kid will never forget the sight of their child mauled to death by a territorial aggressive, untethered Retriever....

and what does that have to do with the thread?blink.png

Ownership of a large dog brings some responsibility's with it.

on is keep the animal at your premises and not letting it claim the hole street in front of the house as his territory.

  4. Everyone here has a lot to say about the "poor electrical work in Thailand" but all of them have overlooked the fact that it is THEIR responsibility to ensure that THEIR house or THEIR premises are safe. Not to mention that all the posters here seem to be very knowledgeable when it come to (after the fact) electrics - yet NOT ONE has mentioned the one inexpensive little device that could have saved ALL of those lives. It's called an Earth Leakage Relay - or a Residual Current Device. Look it up - and if you don't have one installed, then install one immediately. Before we have to type in yet another RIP!

Some, the deceased, may not have had a clue about electrics. The fitters of the stuff should have, BUT they don't. sad.png

Perhaps so, but it's apparently "common knowledge" how "useless and incompetent Thai electricians are" - so everyone should already be forewarned! Nevertheless, as of now, anyone who reads this lot doesn't have an excuse. Get an ELR fitted IMMEDIATELY!

    Hi Guys,

it's called ELCB Earth- Leakage-Circuit-Breaker well-known in Thailand as Safety Cut which is quite expensive.

but there a cheaper Brands on the Market.

how high is the value of human life?? so it pays to have one installed

    RIP

  5. I'm not sure that many of us believed that anything would come from the previous 10 months of announcements declaring that they would sort out this problem. The best hope we had was that some of the "hot air" would help to evaporate the water.

In short, we're alone on this one. If the water comes you had better be clear about how this will work for you. In some ways this is easier. We know not to expect saving so we can work out how to do it for yourselves.

One simple piece of advice - Tins keep, so start adding a couple or more into each shop now. Make sure that you have a good supply of cooking fuel (camping gas canisters for condos, LARGE LPG canisters for homes). There will be no shortage of water and there is nothing that a 5 minute rolling boil won't kill and a piece of cloth won't filter.

    bon appetit

the chemicals spilled into the water you cant boil of or filter with a cloth.

and i don't think that a reverse osmosis plant is available for people like you and me.

  6. Water agency cancels water flow testing east of Bangkok after heavy rain

BANGKOK, Sept 7 – The plan to test water draining preparedness in eastern Bangkok’s canal system on Friday have been cancelled due to the large amount of rain yesterday, according to Dr Royal Chitradon, chairman of the Water and Flood Management Commission's sub-committee on water situation analysis.

Dr Royal, who directs the Hydro and Agro Informatics Institute, said the rainfall was measured at 60-90 millimetres over wide areas, raising the water level in Klong Song to 1.02 metres from mean sea level despite no additional water from upstream being discharged to the canal.

He said that last night, all equipment prepared for the test was used to drain the water. All seven water pushing machines drained water satisfactorily and effectively within two hours. It was seen that the water level downstream in Klong Lat Phrao dropped quickly.

Dr Royal said the water agency will discuss today whether the drainage test in Bangkok's’ eastern canals should be rescheduled.

The government’s first test was conducted Wednesday along the canal network in the west side of the capital. Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said the overall testing on Wednesday was completed satisfactorily–both in terms of the performance of government officials and the flow of water.

The test is aimed at helping the water agency to evaluate the effectiveness of the canals and pumps in draining water into the sea in preparation of the northern run-off in October. (MCOT online news)

what the hell is a water pushing machine? water is a liquid you may pump it but not push.
  7. Standart dinner situation, nothing to write about cheesy.gif

Why the hell carrie a shit gun like a Uzi around? It's as effective as a knife, you can't hit shit with, it unless you stand 2meters from the target, because of the short barrel and high rate of fire...well or of cause, if you fire it, while having dinner with people, you can hit them biggrin.png

have you ever fired a UZI?

up to 25 meters that thing is quite accurate

    with little recoil.

  8. Hi, yes, thanks. I have my garden, so that kills a lot of time for me. But its just sometimes, its nice to have a beer and talk.

get a dog. they make best friends and like when they are talked to. i'm not joking!

Yes Naam,I agree with you, a dog is probably the best friend you'll get, but a dog likes to be walked, and walking a dog is the best enjoyment of having one, what chance do you have of doing that in Thailand without getting pestered by other dogs?

    Get a BIG Dog
