  1. I don't live there as an expat(one day soon hopefully) but I'd miss the great selection of beers(micro brews, and imports) so on holiday I will be spending quite a bit to stock up the fridge with Beervana(already planning on ordering 2 cases of Rogue) and would probably do the same if I lived there.burp.giflaugh.png

You dirty dog! Rogue! I love it! But at 180-200B+ per bottle here, it's something I just can not afford.

    Enjoy!!!!wai2.gif

    Craig3365,

Thanks for the post, and I love it too! Even though I've had much better beer over the years! Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar will always be a special one for me as it really turned me on to the craft beer, micro brew thing so many years ago and when I found out I could order it through Beervana in Thailand I was so happy!clap2.gif I'll eat off the "street carts" and enjoy them but I refuse to drink sh*t beer! I can't do it, would rather drink iced tea than bad beer!laugh.png

Can't wait to visit Beerology, and White Beerd in BKK, I went to BeerVault in the 4 points Sheraton last year in BKK and had a great time! So I hope these other places are just as good!smile.png

    3 1/2 months and counting.

    Cheers,

  2. I think in the US the words "craft beer" and "micro brew" are used interchangeably. The beer snobs probably have all sorts of tiered name calling idioms, but I would say that Deschutes is not a craft brewery. Regarding Deschutes, Wikipedia states, "As of 2010, it was the fifth-largest craft brewery and eleventh-largest overall brewery in the United States".

Anyways, Deschutes makes some fantastic beers and the Lagunitas IPA is great!

Now that is the most informed comment on the thread so far. Thanks.

I didn't realize the beer drinking culture was so different between the USA and Great Britain. Also I wrongly assumed the ThaiVisa negativity wouldn't be so strong even in a VERY positive thread regarding beer. sad.png

Are you really surprised? I think anything over 40 baht a bottle would shock most of the people on hererolleyes.gif , I've read on here about people arguing over the cost of a spade handle that amounts to a $2 difference in pricefacepalm.gif .

Oh,yes...I have open arms/hands for a dam_n good craft beer. Fortunately I holiday a few months of the year back home where great beers grow on trees..... Unfortunately it seems impossible for them to arrive upon the shelves of CM at a price that makes sense.....$10 for a beer!! blink.png However, I'am hopefull since wine used to be a ridiculous price too but has settled down to reasonable levels.

As for Chang/Singha....I don't care how cheap that klong water is....NO THANKS!

This guy gets it.smile.png Great post and I agree.

  3. This article is in another paper and says nothing about her being a maid.

Only that he took her and two other friends into his hotel room in the early hours of 14th May. Her friends left the hotel and about 30 minutes later she was found. Didn't say if he was in the room or left with the friends.

The hotel is in the sukhumvit area. FYI

    Go figure

What are we supposed to "Go figure" ?

Sukhumvit road is 400km long so what is your point?

  4. attachicon.gif5190NG2QBZL._SY300_1.jpgI have a friend that's lived in Thailand since 1989 and he misses this the most, in fact whenever anyone visits we bring him a can or 2 in our suitcase.

That's interesting because you couldn't pay me to eat canned corned beef hash. Isn't that like dog food?

I agree with you here jingthing as I can get it whenever I want and still don't eat it. I guess it's just something that reminds him of his youth and also that it's unavailable anywhere in Thailand.

I think if I lived in Thailand I would miss the great selection of microbrews/imported beers we have in the USA now.

Anybody else miss a good beer?

I recently found this place thanks to another ThaiVisa post, Has anyone tried them? I'm going to order a case before I arrive next trip in October and it looks like a pretty good company.

Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks.

  5. 90% of LBs in tourist areas (100% of freelance LBs) are there for one reason only, to rob tourists. The authorities should ban and remove them just as they do with so many other undesirables. Remember, their long hair and fake tits does not change the fact that they are simply desperate Thai men on alot of drugs/hormones. Usually a dangerous combo.

Sounds like somebody has gotten burned a time or 2 by less than honest ladyboys, maybe you should try an find a more honest one next time!whistling.gif

  6. i actually think Pattaya is much maligned. Sure there our some fairly sordid places i'm sure but you don't have to go there do you. Theres loads of decent bars available to frequent, loads of great restaurants and a lot of very attractive young ladies.

There actually needs to be clarification between the areas. Further down Jomtien, Nakula, over on the dark side... all decent places where normal people seem to live. However, Pattaya proper is a zoo in every sense of the word.

What's wrong with a "Zoo"? If that's what you want.

  7. I will be vacationing in Thailand later this year, and I know that I get a 30 day entry stamp in my US passport.

My question is I want to stay for 41 days,so what is the easiest way to get an extension?

I have heard of the visa runs, but would prefer not to do this if I can avoid it, is there a place I need to contact here in the US or Thailand before my vacation.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance,

    Tony
