  1. Yes, I always have extra grains. They grow fast and double in quantity every few weeks. Sometimes I have so much excess I make a smoothy with them and drink them. I can post them to anywhere in Thailand.

    Hi Tropo

I would like some Kefir grains , never tried them before, did a lot of research regarding their benefits but didnt know where to get them from.

I am in Koh Samui ,Lamai to be exact please PM me with instruction how to proceed with postage etc...

  2. Hi everyone , does anyone know where I can buy a Catnip (Nepeta Cataria) plant? and does anyone know the Thai name for it?

    Thank you FastCat7

I have not come across Cat Nip here, but then if you had asked if I had seen Peppermint or Spearmint growing here more than a couple of months ago, I would have said the same too....

But my neighbours found plants (they won't tell me where!!!) and have them growing well.... The peppermint is growing like crazy, the Spearmint, much slower but looks and tastes OK thumbsup.gif .

I'm trying to make sure they don't let them flower or cross pollinate or they will end up with "Thai Mint" bah.gif

Doing a Google search you'll find a number of overseas seed companies selling Cat Nip seed, it could be worth a try to order some!

Then let us know if you have success! Perhaps you can sell or trade some spare plants! smile.png

Anyone else seen Cat Nip here?

    Thanks Jimmy

I will keep searching if i find it I will let you know, and maybe I'll have spares to trade

  3. Hi Jimmy, thanks for the advice, I think I will re pot with better soil same as you suggested and also some fertilizer I am infact worried that it might have root rot and the dunking in the pond has not helped, well i guess I will find out condition of the roots when I repot, in the mean time thank you foryour help and advice, I will let you know the result as soon as I return to my frineds place next week, I hope by then it wont be too late.

  5. Koko Miko ring road Lamai nearby the golf range and post office, I have never had a bad meal there, standards and quality have remained consistent throughout and the service is smooth, I think the only consistent thing with restauarants here are the inconsistencies!!!!.Kokomiko have decent prices good choice of Thai, Italian and Western, its always been alternative for all the oldtimer farangs to eat good western food in Lamai. Been operating for at least 10 years or more but I think it had a different location in its early days, cant remember that now!!!

Anyway I am getting off the point of why I came on line, does anyone know where I can buy Chicory Coffe, I am trying to cut down on coffee and this is the best alternative with numerous health benefits thrown in.

Thanks guys for any info, oh btw I am going to Penang soon, does aqnyone know if I can pick it up there maybe ???

Don't know how old you are - but in Malaysia they might still sell Camp Coffee.

Chicory coffee in liquid form. It used to be a favourite in the 1950's and 60's in the UK.

Well Im old enough to remember my Grandma used to make me a cup of camp coffee for me when I used to pay her a visit, I must have had my first cup was when I was about 7 years old, those were the days of Dandelion and Burdock pop, tinned peaches with carnation milk, and many more goodies.

So yes I know about camp coffee, but I think it has a fair amount of caffeine and sugar in it , and I wanted to find the raw stuff if possible.

  7. Hi Samui gardners I'm a newbie here

Sorry if this is not following the current topic

    .

Regarding the red ants, if you want them to go (smoke em out) one technique that I have seen the local Thai people perform and it seems to be relatively eco friendly to move the ants on, is to hang a smouldering coconut husk nearby their nests, coconut husks will burn slowly for hours, it took about a week for it to work in my garden. Success rate is good but you must remove all trace of their engineering to discourage their return.

Can someone please tell me what this flower is called and how to take care of it. Photo attached

Also I have some plants for sale (very cheap) 30 Baht each

They are border/ shrub type plants, I have about 12-15 of them, they are mature plants with strong roots, all ready for transport

if anyone is interested please call me, I'm in Lamai.

This is my number Please send PM.

    Thanks
