Still look miserable, even after getting their belongings back, do Russians ever look happy?

Perhaps there is a misunderstanding of what the word "fluency" means.
Yeah, they mistook it for "currency" which I'm sure they'd understand within six months!

In the article they don't say anything about the Baddies being found
So,in the accompanying article............
who's the guy in the yellow shirt ?
Is he a 'goodie' or a 'baddie' ?
As he appears to be pointing to his head, I would imagine he's the son who's mentioned as being punched in the head.

I'm sure those mocyc taxi's had the day of their life, beating up a foreigner with the approval of BIB.
Total rubbish. The truth is, there's a sizeable force of moco taxi drivers in Pattaya who are official / documented police volunteers. One guy (about 35 yrs old) helps me enormously with all sorts of errands / finds tradesmen and more when I go to Pattaya to tend some personal matters. He's a highly intelligent and logical guy, no education at all but taught himself to speak quite good English, highly reliable, I've often trusted him with large sums of cash, never ever had a problem, very balanced, doesn't drink, devoted to his wife and kids and wants to do something positive for his community.
He's about as interested in beating up a farang as driving to the moon.
Must admit, the moto taxis at the top of LK Metro have always been fine with me and my mates. Remember when the floods were in Pattaya last year, they got they're mate out wih his pickup to get me from Pratumnak down to LK Metro. One of them who knew were my apartment was came in the truck to pick me up. Always took the journey slowly as well, no trying to break land speed records either, it's like anything, some very good, some ok and a few give the rest a bad name.

There's something repugnant with anyone who applauds someone receiving the death penalty, regardless of the crime. The punishment should fit the crime, yet state murder never does!

Try asking First Class Visa (they have a desk inside the Queen Victoria Inn in Soi 6) if they will take you to the border. They do a visa rune into Laos and may like to fill an empty seat.
Just an idea.
I did a visa run to Laos from the Queen Vic, it was the most terrifying experience of my life. I know the driving standards are different to the UK etc, but you couldn't relax due to the speed and some of the overtaking the driver was doing.Saying that, it was a well run trip regarding accomodation and getting the visa etc.

After the recent celebrations regarding the Queen in the UK I can only add to the comments posted regardng the recovery of the King.
Best wishes to the King.

It appears Thailand is no longer a peaceful land of smiles but knifes and tourists stubbings / deaths.
I was initially thinking about moving there for some time but the more such news come through the less I like the idea...
it is still the land of smiles...
yes there are horrible things that happen there, but horrible things happen in every country, it is the way the authorities deal with these crimes that is the problem. i would still recomend going to thailand to anyone, i'd just say that there are do's and dont's. but they are common sense and generally the same in thailand as anywhere e.g. someone tries to rob you, you give them your stuff (if you were getting mugged in London your not going to fight back over a few quid when you know if this guy is low enough to mug you he's probably capable of worse).
please understand that this is not me trying to in anyway justify some of the terrible things that happen there; they are tradgic. i just want people to remember that every country has low lifes. for the huge majority thailand is an amazing experience...
don't not go because of a couple of horror stories
That's fine . . . but do you realize just how many tourists are actually injured or killed in the LoS every year (it's a lot)? And how many are killed or injured in other tourist destinations (it's not a lot to none)? You'll be surprised if you Google the results.
If you Google "Tourists killed" there are killings/deaths in virtually every country in the world relating to tourists. This ranges from coach crashes (yes, not just Thai drivers fall asleep at the wheel) to killings for initiation to gangs.
Thailand is like every other country, it's just that people on forums appear to be Daily Mail readers and revert to their angered from Basingstoke personna.
I've lived in Thailand on and off for the last four years, have stumbled about drunk in Bangkok, Pattaya and Patong in the early hours of the morning and have never fallen foul of the nasties many on here and other forum make out exist on every street corner. Never been stopped by the police in their insatiable hunger for tea money, have left laptop bag, phone etc on tables in bars and come back and they're still there.
If I was someone who had never been to Thailand and read this forum, I'd never visit it after the scare stories and conspiracy theorists who spout garbage on here. Yes there's been some sad news regarding tragic events, but it's no worse than anywhere else. As regards the police and their response, when they do something right it appears that they've fitted someone up who is innocent/gullible/feeble minded and only pleading guilty so his family receive money.

I broke my kindle last year, was annoyed as I had about 40 books on it. I found an free app on line and downloaded it to both my laptop and netbook, as I was registered I was able to save all my books to both of them as well. Can purchase diretc from Amazon in exactly the same way as with a kindle.
Here's a link if you can't find a kindle to buy.

Count yourself lucky, I transferred £25k from the Halifax last year and made the mistake of entering the baht value (which was on an exchange rate site that day) Upon receipt in my thai bank I noticed that the amount they took out of my UK amount was almost £28k to meet the thai baht value. Only then did I notice that I had the option to have it converted when the £25k reached my thai bank which would have saved me the £3k. Only made that mistake once

Ah..another 'I'm more important than you' farang'. Any takers for him being a Brit?
Turns out he was one of those "nice" Irish people, you know the ones that refer to us as Brits in a derogatory way. Typical a load of people liked your post because it had a pop at British peolple, probably still wearing their Gunness hats after celebrating the plastic paddies day.

Attended in 2011, very moving. Also went to the other cemetery across the river in the evening to coincide with UK time and some Korea and Malaysia veterans laid a wreath. There was a woman who was visiting her fathers grave in the cemetery for the first time and they passed the wreath to her to lay. Not a dry eye amongst the small group of us. Lest we forget
