  1. Hi there Keith, from what ive read you have had some very good advice and believe me unless you take all of it serious, you WILL be dissapointed.Basically any of us that are replying to you are people who know the real story from the very same mistakes. If you settle yourself down and have a good think about things you will come to the correct decision. For what its worth, as far as I can see every reply you have had is id say 100% correct.Northern Thailand is my bet,Chiangmai. It may sound corny but regardless of how nice and understanding these people may seem, and dont get me wrong they are lovely people, but they have had a lifetime of hardship in one way or another, and so they have practised a way to survive the best way they can,NO DISRESPECT for that.So Keith think hard about the advice you have received here in these posts, they are after all your future pathway to happiness. One thing that hasent been mentioned and I do think it still stands, when you come here to retire with an O visa you have to have a return ticket, again check it out before you do something wrong.I wish you the best and long happiness and peace of mind, study your posts Keith.

    best Regards PJ Kennedy.

  2. Good idea to try to form a company to look after all the details when one of us dies.Im almost sure it would be almost impossible to find a lawyer who would do the right thing,I have never met one that i would trust in Europe let alone here, especially here,im sure a big percent of us will agree to that. But perhaps we may find an expat thats worthy of our trust in matters such as these.Whatever i also think its pointless to interfere in the matter at hand,we will have to hope the children are taken care of in the correct manner,as stated too many of us are passing away without taking care previously of the family, and it is hard for the remainder of us to see the results of such things, especially when the OP has been involved for a great period, brings us all to our senses,OP RIP.

  3. The yellow book is far from useless,to say its useless is bulshit, and as regards bribe,in chiangmai NO WAY.I have one and both my brothers have one each,no problem and no bribe.Dont listen, just go ahead and see, take your GF with you and get the appropriate paperwork, takes a bit of time, you have to go to the office, perhaps 3,or 4 times and it should take about 3,to 4 weeks.Dont offer a bribe just pay the nominated fee, sign and walk away.It is very straight forward just time consuming, like most things here,im retired so no problem to wait. Its worth it.

  4. As far as im aware it gives you the rights to live in the house for as long as you live and if you had made the agreement to lease the ground under the house then after your death it allows your immediate family from whichever country to use that property for an extended 30 years, there is a good bit of paperwork to read but basically thats what it is supposed to be for, unless i have been wrongly informed, not unusual here in Thailand.

  5. I could not agree more with this weeks immigration chiangmai,I did 90 days renew retiree visa and re entry, and apart from the small wait outside it was almost a continual walk back and forth to the counter,i was out in under 1 hour 15 minutes.I was delighted, when i think back to 2 or 3 years ago, sign youe name in the book wait for the door to open get to the woman in the corner get a number and wait,no comparison thank god, well done cm Immigration.

  6. Hi there, this does not answer your questions,so only an onlooker, why not ask yourself why a foreigner would be wanted in the first instance?or perhaps in your case, why would you want to be part of that company? If you can answer yourself this question, then perhaps you can begin to wonder why some of the posts you have received are not the answers you asked for.Perhaps a big percent of us foreigners have already worn the T shirt,so tried and tested.Good luck regardless what decision you make, lets hope if in the future someone asks the same question, that you will have a positive answer.

  7. Start training the children at an early stage how to be safe both on the motorbike and in the car,There could be a special class for road safety set up in all schools,at the least the children then know why they should do these things,ie wear safety helmets, and seatbelts, how and when to indicate when turning, regardless which way they intend to go.I for one would volunteer my serviceses in any school in Chiang Mai anyday.i think that would work better than to ban all kids under the age of 6 years, especially the ones living in remote areas, education is or should be a top priority in all countries.I dont know how it would work regarding the work permit?perhaps someone could enlighten me about that one.

  8. Colin well done and said, you are a man that has faced his bad choices with courage and strength, your present wife recognised your strength and courage and decided you were her man, quit rightly. She can see her strength in you,and it is in her, regardless of the quest ahead of you both she will continue and between you both life will be very bareable. It is now that you have found the right person who will be there come what may, there are many just like her,but the haystack is very large and difficult to find that needle. There is many a thousand men in Thailand who, given the chance, would swap beds with you,but I know this will never be available.Good luck to you both and thank you for sharing your bad times, the good times are coming to you now,the grass is always greener on the other side.Keep the chin up pal.
