Yes,  you will need to find someone in Ranong area.   #1.   it is a big responsibility for someone, especially a farang (legal issues a possibility).    #2  Your wishes and direction may very well not be

performed exactly as you would like.   Depends on person assisting...... and depends on how the hospitals will follow what you ask for.      BOTH are big ifs.

I guess worth a shot to ask here.  Maybe Sheryl has some ideas.  Ask in the health forum, or ask mod to send this topic to health forum (click on top right of your post, there is a symbol when clicked on will say "report post".    then you can ask to send to Health Forum

Really it’s just translation assistance. Somebody to talk to them on the phone, ask the questions I want to ask, and coordinate communication. It’s not that complex of a situation.

she was moved to a private hospital and they’re asking for a 70,000 baht deposit upon her arrival. This would be a situation where I would have the person call them and ask why it’s so much. etc

also, this can be done almost entirely on the phone so they don’t need to be in Ranong.  Only consideration here is phone bill.  Calling from USA is expensive.

i think it would help if you said      is your friend Thai or  ??      about what age

what their condition is        who and how is money paid for the transfers

unless you are going to PM  with respondents (which can be done if wanted) ...... those facts i

mention would at first give an idea what is involved

She is Thai.  About 26.  She has HIV. Had some complications and ended up at government Hospital where she’s been for 12 days in isolation because her CD4 count dropped so low and she acquired a couple hospital infections while she was there for something else.

So they’ve got her separate from people and now she wants to transfer to a private hospital because she feels like she’s getting poor quality care.

There will be ongoing coordinating necessary because I want to help her with her medical bills. As well as get her on better meds.  She literally lives in a mud hut with her mom and son.

I’ve worked in health education for a couple decades so I know enough to assist.  Just can’t communicate with her hospitals, doctors, etc effectively.

“Who and how the money is paid for transfers”.  Happy to use any approach to send funds.

  3. Back in 2014 I connected with a couple on here that assists people who are outside Thailand in facilitating things with friends and acquaintances inside Thailand.

I’m hoping to find someone like that right now.

Have a friend who’s in the hospital in Ranong and needs help facilitating transfer to another hospital, and communication with the people at both hospitals to coordinate it, get her a vehicle, and some ongoing communications.

You can DM me here. Thank you.

  4. Hello -

I am looking to hire someone who can be my "eyes" and "ears" and "hands" and "feet" in Phuket.

Someone who is assertive, and willing to be persistent and patient. Run errands such as pick things up for someone I am helping in Thailand, who does not have the ability to do so on their own. Someone who can go places and meet with certain people (such as her doctor), convey certain messages to them, and help me get things done, that I would normally do myself if I was there.

I have tried for a year to do this myself from the USA and it has been nearly impossible. If you are interested, or can point me to some sort of concierge service that does things like this (a little more involved than your average "sponsorship" situation), I would appreciate it.

You can reach me by PM here.

    Thanks.

  5. Hello -

I am looking to hire someone who can be my "eyes" and "ears" and "hands" and "feet" in thailand.

Someone who is assertive, and willing to be persistent and patient.

I am attempting to help someone with an HIV infection manage her infection. I have significant knowledge on the topic, but it is nearly impossible for me to monitor her progress, her medications, and (most importantly) communicate with her doctor and the hospital to get things done. I have found that the majority of the patient care thus far has been generalized and nonspecific to her situation. HIV is a very individual disease, and requires frequent monitoring. Frequent testing. And a constant juggling of medications to manage both numbers and side effects.

I need someone who can do everything I would do, if I was physically there. Most of the time this will mean phone calls or emails to the girl, and to the physician handling her case. Sometimes this may include physical visits to see the doctor to discuss things and gather information on my behalf. Make requests. Etc.

I realize this is an extremely strange situation, but I have tried for a year to do this myself from the USA and it has been nearly impossible. Despite all my best efforts, the general hospital put her on the wrong medications, in mega doses, and is not even monitoring her response to treatment. Meanwhile she is dealing with severe side effects from these poisons, and barely has 1 office visit every 6 months. That is unacceptable care.

If you are interested, or can point me to some sort of concierge service that does things like this (a little more involved than your average "sponsorship" situation), I would appreciate it.

You can reach me by PM here.

    Thanks.

  6. I assume she is Thai and currently in Thailand. I suppose there's a reason you haven't asked her to do the obvious - ask a vendor with the type that she likes where he/she got his/hers?

Its a unique situation. I am having a business associate of mine purchase the pedicab for her. I will be funding it, somewhat as an investment. She just wants a basic one. Part of me wants to hook her up with something nicer. So I was wondering where one might go to get a decent selection. I was going to call the place if any one here can make recommendations, and see how much various types cost. Maybe its not like a car lot though, where you pick and choose. If it were however, and the price was reasonable, I'd probably have my business partner get her something a little nicer. My biz partner is busy, and I dont have the type of relationship with them to ask them to start walking the streets asking pedicab people where they got theirs. He will just want the address and coordinate the purchase.

  7. Can someone tell me the best place to buy from a selection of new Pedicabs in phuket? A friend of mine there wants to start a business selling food on the street. She is a very good cook.

She says she only needs a 3-wheel type pedicab but ... dont the really good ones look more like a cart, with holes for pots and heating and cooking?

I am in the USA so I am having a friend in Phuket buy it for her, but we dont know where to go. Is there a store? A warehouse? A shop?

Thank you very much. If you have contact information for them that would be great too.

Preferrably in Patong / Karon area.
