  1. Looks like a another phone call is in order yet again I love it. Why do people not understand the law of a country they want to call home is mind boggling to say the least. What are the chances of this German guy have a work permit about the same as pigs can fly so you could say.

Why don't you just mind your own business?

Let the authorities who make the laws enforce them.

Many of us came here a long time ago to get away from people like you.

    Live and let live.

So its ok in your books for someone to open shop beside you and not following the law by getting the proper paper work, permits, visas and so on. I came here a long time ago also... really so what does it give me or you some special status well the answer is no bud. I will be waiting for a response from the first sentence if you have one.

  3. Well I told everyone here a few months ago very clearly. If one thinks they can do whatever they want here with ZERO respect regarding working without a work permit and so on. The guy at the white plate learned the hard way. That's the real reason number 1 and besides he never had a chance to begin with.

  4. Sir Greg:

Royal Thai Consulate General in Toronto is very friendly, all of my friends and family have never had a problem getting non-b or non-o type visa's for single double or multi entries. Just about one month ago a friend of mine got a non-b multi entry one year visa from the Toronto Consulate.

    To Help:

    Wm. A. Dickinson

    Consul of Thailand Toronto

    tel: (416) 241 3363 - Home

    tel: (416) 367 6750 - Consulate

    email: [email protected]

Very nice gent to speak with about Thai visa's. Its not a problem phoning the home telephone number - its on his personal cards.

    Good Luck for your friend

  5. Thanks for the replies again guys.

Just still wondering if anyone has gone to immigration "before" there stamp is finished, showed proof why 1 extra day would be needed and out of courtesy from immigration got it.

Tommorow I will go with him to the immigration ( Only because he's asking for just 1 day, if it was 2 days forget it!) maybe he will get lucky if not, nothing lost.

    I will post the result.

  6. To George:

He entered on a Non Immigrant "O" but that ran out, did a run to Mai Sai earlier this month for his 30 day stamp.

So just the 30 day stamp on arrival.

    For Lopburi3:

You are right about my reply, I should have noted that he's a real cheapie most of the time, just trying to save younger bro some money so I don't have to here about it, but I told him 10 times to re-book his plane ticket weeks ago, so thats what he gets.

    Thank guys.

  7. Thanks George.

But is there any option for him not to have that overstay stamp in his passport without doing a visa run and not paying 1900 Baht for extending. Would going to immigration ahead of time like I noted with his plane ticket or would that just be a waste of time.

The reason being, will this overstay stamp cause any problems for him in the future say if he would want to get a Non-Immigrant visa for a long stay.

He is have a wonderfull time here and paying 1900 Baht to extend even just for a day is not a problem.

    Thank you

  8. HI

    From Chiang Mai

My brother will be going back to Canada on July # 9 but his stamp is only good to July # 8. I have read and heard many different tales... 200 Baht fine or the Thai Immigration at Bangkok airport will let it pass.

Either way its ok, 200 Baht is a lot less of a hassle then doing a visa run.

Its a very early fight in the morning so its going to be less then 5 hours overstay.

Just one question - Should he go to immigration here in Chiang Mai and tell them this first, show his plane ticket, would that be more proper, would they grant one extra day just for a real reason like this or just show up at the airport in Bangkok.

    Thanks

for the overstay by 1 day info.

  9. My Brother got a Non-O good for "2" entries.

    1. Issued on Jan. 27 2005 at our home Thai Consulate

    2. States- This visa must be utilized before April 27 2005

    3. Arrived Bangkok Feb. 11 2005

    4. Good till May 11 2005 (90 Days)

OK He did his visa run up to Mai Sai but got only 30 Days.

Is this because the visa stated - must be utilized before April 27.

I ask this because I know when the Consulate issues you a Thai visa you have 90 days to get here to start it. But in this case if you plan to get your Thai visa say 2 months before you leave and its a Non - O good for "2" entries then when you arrive in Thailand your visa will have 30 left on it and then you have to do a visa run? This then gives you only 4 Months stay. Did they make a mistake or is this how it is.

    Thank for the info.

  10. 1. Can a Thai national import a car duty free if the car is 10 years plus old with the ownership also being in the Thai nationals name for 18 months prior to being imported.

    2. If a Thai spends over 6 months or 1 year outside Thailand what amount of goods both new and used value wise can they send back with them.

    Thanks for any info.

  11. 1. A friend of mine holds a non-b type visa which runs out in four months.  My question here is could he legaly send is passport by mail with all the forms and paperwork to a friend in his home country, then his friend would remail everything to the Thai consulate using his friends address and if after getting a new visa from the Thai consulate back in the mail his friend would remail it back to him here.

    2. I know his passport will not show a exit stamp so this is why I think its not a good idea but I know of an American gent who has done this, but its the legal factor were not sure about.

The reason why he would want to mail it is because our home country Thai Consulate will give a non-b with just a simple letter done by mail with no interview.  He's got nothing to show on paper and not enough cash in the bank here...ect, thats why he cant go to Panang or probably elsewhere close-by.  Basicly he just wants to save himself the cost and time of flying home and back.

I aslo had an idea which I would like someone to comment about also:

If he were to go to Loas for a couple weeks and do all the same mailing of passport and paperwork to a friend to do all the remailing,  then he would have a exit stamp and he wouldnt have been in Thailand when the new non-b visa is stamped in his passport,  but is this legal?

    Well that's it I think

Be looking forward for a straight answer on this topic

    thank you

  12. Im going to Ko Samet with my wife next month, never been there before, some info on a nice place to stay around 600 Baht night thats close to the water would be great.

    Thanks.

  13. We have the DynaSat System with the 5 foot wide dish at our home, I'm only receiving Thai channels - 3, 5, 7, had channel 9 before but its gone now. Were not paying by the month for this system its free.  I dont know anything about this type of satellite system, I believe its about 8 years old.  There is lots of video options like changing from C to KU band and Freq. Adjusting, ect.  The Dish is preset to one position.  I hope to believe by moving the position of the dish there's other channels for viewing out there, even buying a newer Set Top Box would be considered if its worth it.   Some info would be great from some one who knows about this topic and using this type of satellite system.  Thanks
  14. Its been just over three years with my wife here and to all some sound advise:

*Marry a lady thats in your age group*

Lets be real here, a man 55 plus with a lady under 22 is asking for it to begin with.  I'v lived here in Thailand for a very long time now and seen many friends that thought they could live with a much younger women end up in a sad state leading to a divorce.  This I believe is the number one reason why farang men here are facing marriage problems.  Sure some are happily married but with such an age difference along with cultural difference.....I wont go on.  If your here thinking about looking for a women to spend the rest of your life with, please find a women that suits your age.
