Bingo. Ladyboys are a favorite of many Muslim tourists as they can, uh, touch them without committing a sin. The less religous ones may go for alcohol and real ladies. As far as families and more religious tourists - why would they travel to Thailand of all places during Ramadan of all times. If anything they'll go to Mecca or some other holy site. Actually funny just how unrealistic this is.
They go to Mecca during Haj not Ramadan. Ramadan is the month of fasting, so to avoid that they may travel to Thailand.

While Thailand has alcohol and ladies of the night readily available it will always attract the muslim hordes.

Singha and Chang both taste horrible, I've come to the conclusion that Thai's drink to get drunk, not because they like the taste of beer.
And there's a problem with that?

I'm amazed that statistic has been published.

I have just been delivered a small booklet which outlines the new ring road to be built around Loei, but the map is so small it is impossible to extract any useful information from it. Does anyone know where I might be able to view a larger and more detailed map of this planned road?
Thanks if you can help.

Your reference to virile tourists indicates that you are referring to male tourists. However, it is really more women of childbearing age that are needed for an increase in the birth rate, and foreign female tourists would be unlikely to bring about this increase in the Thailand's birth rate.
Than you for your clarification. What you said hadn't even occurred to me so I am most grateful.

Sounds like Thailand needs even more (young, virile) tourists!

Yes this immunity harms Thai democracy, which as we see in the aftermath of the recent election is in a pitiful state anyway. Even the thing with Thaksin is a stain on the reputations of these who did the deal. Revolting really.
"Thai democracy", what's that?

That would be a useful list so I know which ones to avoid.

This hints of corruption and I find it hard to believe such a thing is possible in Thailand.

Point out that in India it works the other way round, so how about adopting the Indian tradition here.
