  1. I got chatting to one of the jetski guys, and they are in fact farang owned. I also did witness the damage shakedown four or five times over the two weeks, a couple of which turned really ugly.

  2. I usually stick to the same deck chair vendor whilst in pattaya, Last time on my patch of beach, I witnessed the damaged jetski shakedown 4 or 5 times in 3 weeks. All by the same guy, 2 of which nearly ended in violence.

  3. Sounds like a grand time. By any chance were you there at the same time the German guy got gunned down? Perhaps you heard the shots?

Wow, there's no crime where you live! Awesome! Tell me where it is and I'll move there.

In the two years I've lived in Udon Thani to the best of my knowledge no farang has been murdered. I get around a lot and most likely would have heard such news.

Of course there's crime here. However it seems there is a farang murdered on a weekly basis in Pattaya.

I've talked to many people who love Pattaya and go there at least twice a year. They've told me about the great times they've had. I'm sure if I visited Pattaya I would probably enjoy myself too. However that doesn't change the fact that Pattaya has a well-deserved reputation for violence/murder; unless all the newspaper articles and television coverage are just blatant lies and staged events.......I happen to believe the murders happen.

I can't wait for the responses from the PDL (Pattaya Defenders League); if they can pull their heads out of the sand long enough.

Why is it called trolling or bashing when someone states facts? Or am I wrong about the murders in Pattaya.....they aren't really happening? :o

  4. Same same but differant, I bumped into one of the Bangkok ettiquette police the other night.

I stumbled into the Beer garden on soi 7 around Midnight, sat two stools down from this guy, ordered a beer. " You have picked the wrong time if you want a woman" he said.

No I explained, just back from Pattaya, I could not raise my eyebrow.

    " It's not Pattaya, it is Patt a yaaa ". <deleted>.

He then went on to castigate me for wearing a short sleeved shirt, bearing in mind I am on holiday, not used to the climate, and sweating my conkers off.

Then of course I was told that under no circumstaces should I wear shorts in Bangkok. I was'nt and I dont. The funny thing was after he had laid down the laws of bangkok evening attire,he went on to tell me he was married with his wife in the family pile on the coast, whilst he worked in Bangkok and was banging all and sundry in the Beer garden. What is it with these people?

  5. Unilever does indeed own bestfood, at least it does in the UK.

I work just round the corner from the Marmite factory and have access to their factory shop, I can get bovril cubes by the sack load and Marmite by the bucket.

But as the adverts say, "You either love it or hate it", and guess what! :o

  6. What does Lamai have?

The Ovada show band!! . One of the best I have seen in Thailand, apart from in the Hard rock cafe in Bangkok.

They are Phillipino and have two gorgeous chicks on vocals, lead and bass guitar.

(they also play Chaweng, Tropical Murphy's a couple of times a week).

Davethailand, you should check them out when on Samui again.

Great music, great eye candy. :o

  7. You only have to dine with an Issan family to realise that there has been or maybe there still is abject poverty. When they eat a Chicken, usually a special occasion, they do not pick off the meat like you and I, they eat the lot, bones, head, feet. When they have picked all the flesh from a Catfish they dont throw the remains to the dogs as I would,it is placed in the larder for later. The bugs that they like to eat! who and why did they find out they were tasty?
