I can't provide all the required documentation, nor do I want to risk going to immigration to walk out ill and not even know it. This means after tomorrow, I am officially on overstay. Once this is over I don't think I will ever come back to Thailand again. That's how disgusted I am at this insatiable greed.

Greed, indeed, is what it is. Thailand is greed. Nasty.

  2. This is the OP. I now have the BOI rules for a Work Permit. For the record, there is no specific requirement for a degree.

This is the source: http://www.boi.go.th/upload/06-ใบตรวจเอกสาร มาตรา 25 EN_42555.pdf

The rule is known as "section 25" and these are the requirements for individuals: Passport, Education Certificate / training Certificate, Employment record, Other Related documents, Proof of relationship Photo.

  3. So my new employers – a BOI company in Bangkok – is saying I need a degree to get a work permit. However, I know that’s not necessary (have read plenty about it on ThaiVisa).

So, does anyone know of any Thai-language rules or regulations about the work permit process in which it is explained that a degree is not required for a work permit?

The aim is to send this to the HR dept as some proof.

    Would really appreciate some help.

    Cheers. Be safe!

  4. The US Embassy has issued a statement about new Laos border rules: https://la.usembassy.gov/health-alert-u-s-embassy-vientiane-laos-march-17-2020/

Of note, it says: "Individuals not exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms who enter Laos from a country with a common border with Laos and from a province of that country that also shares a border with Laos are required to undertake 14 days of self-quarantine if the province from which they entered has more than 3 confirmed cases of COVID-19."

The question is: what does self-quarantine actually mean?

I was planning on heading for Savannakhet. But can we still get a visa and come back next day?

    Thanks for any updates.
