  5. 1. A Thai driver's license is not that hard to get. I showed up with a bunch of stuff, med cert, proof of address....they really just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to do anything illegal. I even subtly offered the flowin' of the green, (or pink, in this case) and she grinned and waved me off (!!). Then, I took the most ridiculously easy tests to show I know left from right or green from red or something....at any rate, I'm in. Now I just have to go renew. I only did it because I was here full time (now just 6 months out of the year) and I drive here often.

    2. Avoiding paying for what? If you're a farang, you're a farang! I mean, maybe it's different for me cuz I'm pasty white, 6'7" (2 meters) tall and can't really hide who I am. I don't like the notion of being gouged because I'm farang, but then I have to remember that the guy who lives across the street from me only gets a minimum wage of about $10US a day. Which, I think, entitles him to a cheaper entry fee to something that pro'ly oughta be free for him anyway. Y'all act like this place is rolling in dough, but I go to Boonthavorn to look at a kitchen sink, there are 30 people running around working and no customers. I honestly don't know how the place stays afloat, but I don't push, I don't judge....besides, if you have friends here and you go places with them...there are ways. But if somebody gives you a mildly stern look and waves their hand, throw 300 baht into the pot. It's only polite. For cryin' out loud, these people have the right to make something off of what they have. It's not like the middle class here are any better off than any of us starving louts anywhere else.

    3. RE: driving licenses. An International drivers license is $20 in the US, probably comparable in many other countries, requires no test in most places, just the proof that you have an existing license in the country of your domicile. Just get one. It's easier. It's completely legit for insurance purposes. You don't need a Thai license unless you want something to show off at a bar. Which, I'll admit, is fun.

a little tip! the medical certificate must not be more than 7 days old! i had to go back to my doctor to get another one!

  7. Such an amazing cast. Richard Briers, Penellope Keith, Paul Eddington and Felicity Kendall's bum.

Can't have been too bad...being paid to man-handle Felicity Kendall!

Anyway, thanks Richard, it was great and the world is ever so slightly poorer this morning.

Didn't he play the father in a show called " the darling buds of may" in which case he had a much better bum to man-handle .Seriously though ,thank you Richard for many many delightful evenings of great fun and entertainment. No sex,no violence, just good old fashioned family entertainment.May you rest in peace and your memories linger for eternity------ Dougal the Kiwi

    thank u richard!

i met him in london once. i was working in dolland and aithison opticians

in he walked, wearing t shirt and jeans, a real gentleman

loved the good life............... and of course had many dreams about felicity kendall!!!! lol

RIP u are a great loss to entertainment and the world

  8. 1Ghi everybody!

i wrote to bayer in thailand about the use of pesticides, suprisingly with no reply

but i am like a dog with a bone!

i wrote to bayer in england saying i was doing a school project! lol

    somebody wrote back!!!!!!!!

    this was their reply!

any has banned the use of neonicotinoids. Bayer still manufactures and distributes outside of the country. Why do u still sell?

Actually Germany has not banned the use of neonicotinoids; there is a single restriction in use, and that is a current suspension in its use in maize whilst a better understanding of how to reduce dust containing neonicotinoids coming out of the pneumatic seed drills used in this country. These products continue to be used extensively in other crops, including oilseed rape where it replaced more toxic and less environmentally friendly carbamates and organophosphates

    2. Do u supply these chemicals in any format to farmers in third world countries to increase yields?

Some countries, for example in southern Africa, India and southeast Asia do have access to these products and they have proved extremely popular especially because of their very low human toxicity. It is important to recognise that many farmers and growers in these countries frequently have little access to personal protective equipment and traditionally their access to the pesticides that they need to control destructive pests has been limited to old, relatively toxic chemistries. Access to neonicotinoids not only means lower operator exposure but, in the case of seed treatments, means that less expensive equipment is required

    3. Carbofuran, dicrotophos, methomyl and EPN?

None of these are neonicotinoids and, to my knowledge, we do not sell them.

xxxxx, a key issue here is that farmers and growers do have to control pests and diseases that would otherwise stop them producing a plentiful supply of high quality affordable food. The vast majority of them use pesticides both responsibly and carefully, making sure that they use enough to “do the job” but the minimum possible. Using a neonicotinoid seed treatment reduces the amount of pesticide put into the environment, and if used according to the detailed instructions, is safe to the user and will not harm non-target organisms.

    Very happy to discuss

    Yours Sincerely

  9. just sent an email to bayer in thailand and i quote!

    i have retired to thailand

and have recently been concerned about the use of pesticides

there has been a very interesting exchange of information on a website called thai visa about chemical use in food production

    and i quote

Germany has banned the use of neonicotoids Bayer still manufactures and distributes outside of the country.

    why do u still sell?

do u supply these chemicals in any format to thai farmers to increase yields?

    carbofuran, dicrotophos, methomyl and EPN

do u think they will reply? whistling.gif

No! Thais are notoriously bad at responding to e-mails anyway but one like this will definitely go in the too hard basket in my opinion

    SUPRISE! SUPRISE!

no reply from bayer in thailand!

too busy pouring chemicals into unmarked bottles

so customers dont know what is in them !

but dont forget the ' buy one get one free sticker'

    sad....... but could be true.............

  11. Production sites

    in Thailand

Thailand has received high priority on Bayer’s agenda for growth in Asia. The continuality of investment plan, therefore, has been provided for new projects in both the polycarbonates production site in Map Ta Phut industrial Estate as well as the formulation site for products of CropScience and Animal Health and integrated polyurethane systems house namely “Bayer MaterialScience polyurethane systems plant” in Bangpoo industrial Estate

    anybody live near there?

do u think they are fussy about who they sell carbofuran, dicrotophos, methomyl and EPN to?

i doubt it as the shareholders expectatations of high profit margins are their number one priority.

    we could boycott bayer products?
