What's surprising is they didn't just shut it down and keep everyone's coins.

I'm seeing 7 times more volume on BX Thailand (https://coin.market/exchange/bxinth) but the BTC/THB market followed other BTC markets. Also I'm seeing more BUYS than SELLS for BTC/THB on BX.

I heard that marijuana is not considered a big deal in some of the provinces, in the country.

So thai people litter, farangs with non-immigrant visa need to clean up? Oh yeah, I forgot... he fled his country cause Thailand is so nice.

ISIS are not stupid. Having disclosed Walking Street and Khaosan Road as the likely targets, you can be sure that they will now direct their plans (if such plans exist) to other locations.
Neither location is particularly popular with the Russians. There are far better alternatives.
Actually ISIS are stupid - generally speaking. Maybe the leaders/strategists aren't but generally - they are idiots. And when I say stupid and idiots I'm not talking about any radical religious beliefs but problem solving skills.
Fact of a matter is that it is very easy for somebody to get to Khaosan Road, Walking Street, Full Moon Party, or International departures with a frickin backpack full of explosives and press a button or wait for a phone call. I'm not sure how easy it is to get explosives but moving such a package from point A to point B is pretty easy. Now, some might say that there are checkpoints on the BTS and MRT... sure. As a caucasian male I've been searched maybe 10 times in 5 years. If I shave and put on a long-sleeved shirt and pants... I don't think I would be searched "as often".
In the last 3 months almost half a million immigrants and refugees from Syria, Iraq, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India (and many more) have crossed borders completely illegally and got asylum on false pretenses in a western european country of their choice. Now I know for a fact that at least 1 country is checking every single identification document against Interpol and Europol databases and saving the data for later. But I also know that at least 300 people have been identified as radical islamist terrorist (ISIS) 3 weeks **after** they've crossed into their country of choice. And the public learned about those facts after the Paris attacks, where the police have about 11,500 people on a "must-watch" list.
My sarcastic question is... do you think Thailand can identify possible ISIS terrorists before they enter the country?

Why isn't there a picture with her sitting down behind a table with all brochures/evidence laid in front of her and a bunch of cops behind her?
Kinda off-topic... should I report my neighbor for working remotely for a UK company while living in Thailand on a tourist visa?

As far as I know there isn't a checkpoint on the Phuket bridge nor there is a checkpoint on every ferry and speedboat, so ... I don't think any of the suspects are in the country.
Regarding passport checks... less than 10 countries systematically check passports against Interpol's databases. To put some things in perspective, Kuala Lumpur International (Sepang) started checking passports against Interpol's Lost and Stolen Passport Database late last year. As of 2 minutes ago Interpol doesn't have an Antonio Bagnato nor a 22-28 australian citizen on its wanted list. For Antonio or the other 3 suspects to get on the list, Thailand would have to declare that they have reason to believe the suspects have fled the country and issue an international warrant.

Torpedo1970, where are you getting 2g speeds on dtac?

For me, it's very funny to see good thai people littering everywhere but giving problems to farangs when they do the same. Makes sense, in a way.
Maybe I'm too critical of Thai people since Im from a european country where street-cleanliness standards are much higher.

I think I understand the thai mentality well enough to expect negligence such as CSI being called days later or not limiting the crime scene etc. But why doesn't somebody (or more people) loose their job when the same mistakes happen over and over again?

According to a friend who seems to know the subject well, all international bandwidth of all providers is capped round 3 MB out of Thailand. The account I am on right now is a 3-BB 50/5 MB / Fiber Optic and this is what my testmy.net / speed-test shows. Pretty shocking......
He tells me all the regular speed-tests, also the ones showing foreign servers, are "fake". Would be nice if a pro could explain for us all to understand. THX. MS>
Download :: 2.2 Mbps 275 kB/s Upload :: 1.4 Mbps 175 kB/s
Speed in Mbps6% slower than the TH Average 2.3 Mbps30% slower than your City Average 3.1 Mbps5% slower your Host Average 2.3 MbpsComparable to Your Average 2.2 MbpsYour Download Speed 2.2 Mbps01234567891011The reason why you're getting the measly 2.2 mbit's download is that the server you're using for your test might be overloaded, on a network with bad connectivity to thailand, or several other reasons. How are you connected to your fiber optic router? through a wifi (signal ok? good speeds between wireless clients?).
Try downloading a file from this server, it's a 100 MB file full of random 1's and 0's. These are not compressable and that datacenter gets good speeds to thai's true internet network last time I checked. You're on 3BB but it might be OK too even though they're using different international gateways.

Could someone please enlighten me what the actual goal of this is?
Getting the 2 sides together in the same room, locking them up until they figure out a date for the election and getting the protesters off the streets?
Any number estimates of how hard these protests hit the economy?

Apart from geo-location targeting there is also something called remarketing. Basically it works like this. Lets say thaivisa advertises across all websites that use google's advertising platform (adwords+adsense). Thaivisa would have a special piece of code which would store information about your visit to on your computer. Next time you visit a website that uses google's adsense chances are you're going to get a thaivisa ad.

I don't remember if it was a chip card exactly, but recall being offered something like that by Bangkok Bank, but was told the card wouldn't work in other bank ATMs, so many people didn't want them.
Are microchip cards impossible to create like these guys did, or just harder than the easier mag strip cards?
"Microchip" cards are more difficult to clone, most ATMs dont have hardware support to read them.

If the uniforms do get produced here they're going to barely pass the quality check. I remember when i was buying Vans at Jatujak a few years ago the thai Mrchant had two prices for the same shoe style. One for Vans manufactured in China and one for Vans manufactured in Thailand

Wow!
Im amazed at the incompetence.
At least when i fly Bangkok-Amsterdam there are 2 security checkpoints.

I dont see any discounted flights to bangkok from europe because of the shutdowns bombing etc.
Hang in there, when the tanks roll in the prices might drop.
I don't know recent Thai history that well to know if you're being over-dramatic or not. Anybody want to save me some google time?

Opened a bank account yesterday. Was politely refused at one bank and told new regulations require the need for a work permit. That was a bank in the Tesco centre at On Nut BTS in Bangkok.
Then went to the Big C Centre near On Nut BTS and tried Kasikorn Bank. Asked for work permit but I said I did not have one. I called over the GF and they copied the GF's ID and set the account up for me. I am on a 30 day waver, no visa.
Only cost was 400 for the ATM card. No insurance or anything else mentioned. So if you have a Thai with you, just use their ID as some sort of "sponsor" I suppose.
Did you read the documents in english? The ones where they wrote her ID?

Awesome! What a great guy.
A friend of mine left his HTC Desire HD on the last seat of a taxi, maybe a month after that HTC model was launched.
We called the taxi company but none of the drivers reported any lost phone. I do remember them saying we will need to tip the driver

I wish they would show what a skimming device looks like. It might help if the public could recognize a compromised ATM machine.
Oh and I hope these two are used as ladyboys by the other inmates.
here is a collection of them, as you can see they come in various forms.

I found this: http://www.xatrix.org/news/thailand-becoming-top-target-for-atm-hacking-scams-4469/
info about RFID card cloning and other ways of skimming atm cards, there's some advice on using tin foil against RFID thiefs.
These kinds of groups are popping up in thaivisa news all the time. I'd say a group per week, at least!!
I always try to use atm machines inside shopping malls same as andygunther.

A friend of mine had panic attacks and used 2 differents meds. He wasn't even able to go to the supermarket by himself. After 3 months he switched to something that's illegal in Thailand - Cannabis. Dropped from meds and is now on/off cannabis smoker. Last time I heard from him he said he was fine and wasn't even smoking daily. I'm not suggesting it, I'm just saying what helped him.

I'm not seeing lower hotel prices on website, am I missing something? Maybe online prices won't change until the very last minute?
