I have never had much belief in the honesty of anyone in Thailand giving me

the official numbers, after the number of cases went past 30 quickly then magically

stopped for a while. The wearing of masks especially in Bangkok, because of

the pollution has helped many people. In Canada I still see many people who will

not wear a mask or use gloves, and that is why the flattened curve has not

been reached yet, also may be the US reason as well. There are still some who

do not take the virus seriously, and who are still spreaders, as they feel healthy,

with no symptoms, so no danger from them, yes?

    Geezer

I recently lived and worked in Thailand for over 10 years and I have to say that in my experience truth and transparency in most instances came 2nd to managing/manipulating truth to suit one's specific agenda(s).  Designed formula for criteria of measurement will effect the outcome. In simple terms one works backwards from desired outcome to formulate said outcome. An interesting and more conclusive study measuring deaths related to Covid 19 would be to begin by accounting for all deaths through the period ... and by process of elimination arrive at the 3 levels of potential truth(s), probable, most probable and those published. As many of us suspect the "most probable" number is quite likely significantly higher than what has been claimed/published.

The wearing of masks and their effectiveness in stopping or preventing spread of a disease is directly related to (1) mask materials and design (2) how a mask is worn, and (3) how a mask is handled during and post. The same set of risk criteria and resulting effectiveness relates to gloves and any other protective clothing used as a method of protection. Although I do not and have not worked in health care I assume that this basic 3 point risk criteria (and with far more detail) is managed with great care and attention.

From what I have read any of us are potentially asymptomatic and therefore attention to good sanitary habits with due consideration for others health and welfare should be practiced seriously wether feeling healthy or not.

  2. simple math

daily confirmed number is more accurately quantified when relative to the number tested

Assuming accurate as stated earlier + - 700 tested to + - 100 confirmed infected or 14% infected

If continuing at current rate the potential for confirmed infections (if blanket testing were to be done) relative to total population of 2020 census 69,799,978 this calculates potential infection well into the millions with death rate again well into the thousands

To put the 14% into perspective, Australia New South Wales as of 24/03/202 had a rate of .013% confirmed as infected

for our more pedantic members; apologies in advance for a few broad assumptions and rounding numbers

  3. ThaiQ ... yet another brilliant example ... but seriously, wouldn't it make more sense to install a (actually working) surveillance cam, with large signage ... and increase the fine for not stopping to a level relative to the crime (dangerous driving or wilful intent to cause bodily harm could be a more accurate description of driving through a zebra crossing when people are attempting to cross) If we are talking "culture" perhaps a campaign targeting more concern for other persons health and welfare might produce better results over the long term. Hitting at the core or foundation of the problem ... would seem to be a reasonably good show of responsible governance.

  4. Intimidation, by definition (as stated here) includes the "feeling" of fear.

"Fear" an emotion, subjective ... unknown and potentially negative outcomes

"Fear" an emotion, objective based on negative past experiences

If a person states that they "felt" fear then it is entirely their ownership ... nothing for anyone else to argue against.

No different than any other emotion, thought, opinion etc... to each his/her own.

Any argument against a person's legitimate sense of fear is by logic, shear conjecture

If a person says that they "felt" intimidated" there is no logical argument to prove their "feelings" are otherwise

Were a person present and witness to the incident they may observe otherwise that the person in question "showed no fear" yet again, the truth in all cases is that regardless of what might emotions appear to be on the surface, the truth of what is felt lies solely with the owner of said feelings.
