  1. Point taken. Why don't you join us at our next planning meeting and we can discuss biodegradable vinyl for the signs?

We are starting our sign campaign and have a limited number of vinyl 'Green Phangan' signs printed and ready for distribution. At this point we are primarily targeting business owners on Koh Phangan asking them to hang a sign in their shop, business, restaurant, bugalows, etc. and make a minimum donation of 200 Baht to cover printing costs.

Of course, anyone wishing to donate and hang a sign is welcome!

    Thanks,

    Spike

Come by to learn more about the efforts of Green Phangan and meet other like-minded people interested in helping 'green' Koh Phangan...

Green Phangan is comprised of a group of motivated individuals that wish to make Koh Phangan a cleaner and more environmentally friendly island. Please join us and see how you can help!

We are predominantly westerners, we love the island and we want to help keep Koh Phangan clean. We would like to help the locals to keep the natural beauty of the island intact and are looking for ways to dispose of rubbish/garbage in the best way possible. We wish to help educate future generations on how to maintain Koh Phangan's beauty in the face of rapid growth.

Green Phangan's mission is to help Koh Phangan become a more environmentally friendly island for people to live and holiday. Our aim is to educate residents and tourists about how their choices can have an impact on a small island with limited resources.

Green Phangan will help to provide more rubbish and recycling bins on the island, making it easier for everyone to do their part in maintaining Koh Phangan's natural beauty.

Green Phangan will help educate businesses and residents in how to make simple everyday changes, from rainwater collection to reducing waste production.

Green Phangan will support and encourage the use of alternative and environmentally friendly products for everyday use, including bio-plastics and non-toxic household alternatives.

    5 THINGS YOU CAN DO

Say "No" to plastic bags. Bring a reuseable bag when shopping.

Find a bin for your rubbish and cigarette butts.

Clean rubbish off the beach and dispose of it in bins.

Don't throw anything into the Sea.

Bring your own reuseable container when buying take away food.

  4. Sorry seems there was a miscalculation there on the price of the straws.

Re. the cost of the straws, they are not 12 baht each. Much much cheaper:

    ECOPLAZ Bendable Straws White

    Environmentally Degradable Plastic

    80 pcs/pack; 125 packs/carton = 10,000 pcs straws

1,181 baht per carton + VAT and transport (1-5 cartons)

12 baht per straw is quite expensive I think, means quite a price raise of the drinks or losing mos of he profit
  5. I have had a work permit and several non-Immigrant B work visas for the past 2 years. I spend 4 months in Thailand every winter and apply for a new visa every year and my employer renews the work permit when I return to Thailand. Last year my employer's legal consultant sent me a "Lock work permit"document which I sent to the Thai consul when applying for my visa. This year I am applying again and want to know if I can use the same "Lock work permit" as last year or if I need a new one to send with my visa application.

    Thanks.

Interesting - never heard of it; could you please post a scan of this document?

  7. The quality of the road looks excellent. I use this road everyday when on the island. Has construction begun on the remainder of the road into Chaloklum?

the street is now completed until the top of the hill looking towards Chaloklum. Specially for the "Samuians" :D ....the street is not closed. just no traffic at all :o

i'm just wondering if they have the budget to do it until Chaloklum, still some km's to do!

  8. It looks like we have someone willing to translate the website into German. Can anyone translate it into French? Spanish? Any other languages?

    Many thanks,

    Spike

Thank you everyone for your support.

As we mentioned on the Green Phangan Facebook group, we would like to translate the Green Phangan site into as many languages as possible. If you can help in translating the website from Thai or English into French that would be most helpful. And if anyone else is willing and able to translate the site into German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Portugese, Greek, etc. that would be brilliant!

  9. Thank you everyone for your support.

If Steve Thongsala's issue is a language issue...

Steve, please just ask if we would link to a French? informational site on Koh Phangan and we will gladly do that. If your issue is something else, please feel free to PM me and I hope we can sort out the issue.

  10. Sorry Steve, we are not advertising for anyone, and Green Phangan has no affiliations with any businesses whatsoever. We are only individuals wishing to help make the island a better place.

The links on the website are merely informational.

It's always to make the advertising for the same websites (phangan inf., Phangan Expl.etc.....)

Why the rules are not applied for all? huh.gif
