sorry for the late reply and thanks for your replies. My son is nearly 4 years old. He stays with me a few times a week and his mother the rest of the week. My current non O expires September 29th and my passport expires the same date. I am applying for a new British passport in the next few weeks, so I was going to get the old stamp from old passport on to new one, wait until around a week before my extension of stay (non O) expires then do a trip to Laos to get a 60 day tourist visa, then convert it in Bangkok to a non B. Does this sound plausible?

Hi everyone, I’m from the UK and currently living and working in Bangkok. I currently hold a Non-Immigrant O visa based on marriage to my Thai wife. Unfortunately, we are now going through a divorce, so I’m trying to understand what my visa options will be afterwards. We have a son together, and I am the legal father. Because of this, I’m wondering if it is possible for me to switch to or extend a non-O visa based on supporting my Thai child instead of the marriage. One complication is the financial requirement. I can no longer show 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account, but I do have a full-time job in Bangkok with a work permit earning 80,000 baht per month. I know one option would be to leave Thailand and come back on a non-B visa through my employer, but ideally, I would prefer to stay on a non-O based on my son. So, my questions are: Is it still possible to extend or obtain a non-O visa based on having a Thai child after divorce? Can the monthly salary (80,000 baht) be used instead of showing 400,000 baht in the bank? For example, using pay slips or income documentation. Has anyone here successfully done this in Bangkok immigration? Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
