  1. I would be grateful for any advise on a problem a good friend has with the failure of his business, I will try to keep it brief and to the point....

Basics are his business is in financial difficulty due to Thai business partner shall we say over spending etc, he is in a business partnership but not a limited company. I believe there is still around 3 years left on the lease of the store. There has been a lot of animosity and threats from the Thai partner now my friend just wants out,

    Questions are basically

If he walks away from the business and returns back to the uk what legally would he still be responsible for

Should there be debt left in Thailand would he be still be traced to pay even though he would be out of the country?

I hope some one could give advice and thanks in advance

  2. Hi

Thank you both for your advise and clarification . Apologies as yes I am British.

My wife as stated is currently here on the spouse visa but in all honesty she does prefer her own country , who can blame her so I was trying to cover all bases , both the ILR and thanks again for clarifying, also if she decided that living back in Thailand was her choice what and how difficult it would be to get a 10 year visit visa?

I am in a fortunate situation that my work would allow me to be in either country, indeed I was also looking into the possibilities of working 3 months in uk and spending 3 in Thailand etc.

If you could advise on where best to find details on the 10 year visit visa for my wife that would be a great help.

    Thanks again

  3. Hi All,

I have been reading through many posts on the new changes on the UK visa requirements, I would apreciate some clarity from those in the know, My wife has been granted a spouse visa in March this year and is now currently living with me in the UK, she arrived in June, We would like to apply for a ILR once the time comes , my questions are,

    1) under the new rules doe this mean she will now need to pass both the LITUK test, & B1 english, as i believe we will not be able to now do the ESOL course as we wont be able to apply for the ILR until after October 2013,

    2) Should my belief on question 1 be true, if she successfully gets the ILR visa, am i correct in thinking this will allow her to travel between the UK and Thailand freely for as long as she wishes, or are there further visa requirements after a set time? i.e if she were to stay in thailand for a couple years without visiting the uk would this void the visa? hope that makes sense.

I should add i do currently meet the minimum salary requirements this would not be an issue.

    one final question,

Should all the above fall through etc, is there a long term tourist visa she could apply for to give her access to travel here a couple of times a year with out having to apply for every visit seperatly?

    I apreciate any help.

  4. I am looking for further advice on which would be the best visa to apply for if i wanted to have stays for 3 months in thailand, i am married to a thai lady who is currently with me in the UK on a 2 year spouse visa.

Due to my work commitments etc i have a couple of options open to me however one thought is to go back to thailand with my wife and for the next year or 2 would be to stay in thailand for 3 months then return home to the uk for 3 months etc,

Could anyone advise me if there is a 3 month visa or if there is a better way around this?

Any advice will be gratefully received.

  5. Hi,

I recently had some very good advice from you guys on this forum regarding the settlement visa, however i was thinking of taking a trip to europe, Spain, or grand canaria with my wife, she is coming to the uk on a 2 year spouse visa and was wondering if this visa would also allow her to travel to these european countries or if there would be an additional visa requirement.

    Any advice greatly recieved.

  6. Hi 7by7,

Thanks for your indepth advice it is very much appretiated, i have contacted the local colleage and they do run this course which begins in september however i think the life in uk test is what many people think may be the way, im not sure what her level of english would be classed as all i know is she has passed the english test in thailand for her visa which is from cambridge uni, i think was level 1,

I have also looked at the life in uk test and , well, looks like im getting kicked out as i only managed a score of 15!!

thanks again for all the advice

  7. Hi Bobrussell

thank you for your kind reply, my wife has passed the initial english test for her visa and can speak relativily good english, i got a little confused on the ESOL course and wether this is the better way forward rather than the life in the uk test, if so how long does this course run for and i assume it will not be free?

    thanks in advance

  8. Hi, This is my first post on here so apologies if the questions have been answered, i have spent a lot of time trawling this and other sites to try to find clarification on a couple of thisgs and would be grateful for any advice.

I apreciate these questions may be a little premature however looking into the comments on various sites it seems better to have as much time to prepare as possible,

ok, my wife has just been granted a 2 year spouse visa to the UK and i will be flying out in a couple of weeks to bring her to the UK, what i would be grateful for is advice on the following....................

after the 2 years have passed on her visa i believe there are 2 options for applying for the ILR visa, but reading into other posts it seems the best way is for my wife to do the dreaded LIFE IN UK TEST? would this be the best way?

also im a little confused on what other information they will be taking into account as currently i am selling my property and going to rent, will this cause an issue?

lastly, i am currently employed however i am now looking to start my own business , this obviously means going self employed, would this also cause a problem?

My apologies again if all these questions have been answered but trying to look through and make a definative amswer for my self on so may posts got a little confusing.

Thanks in advance for any replies
