  1. April do cover for Thailand it all depends which zone you select, amazingly they were one of the very few companies who would cover me in Afghanistan. I had them for two years and upon the next renewal the cost went sky high even though I had changed to be cover for Thailand only, the cost was more than the cost which previously included Afghanistan.

You can get a quote from AA insurance in Pattaya who also have a branch in Hua Hin.

Oh as previously mentioned take care with the renewal or cancelation notice period, very sneaky.

  2. Is there a lesser priced option to take kids or family there and just wait and eat and drink where one can watch or will an adult who is not using the water facilities still charged the same entry fee? I'm not interested in the water activities, frankly, too old and too fat to fit into any of my old swimsuits, but I would like to go and keep an eye on my step daughter from a distance while having a meal and sipping some beers.

You pay as you enter and then no addotional costs for usage except food and drinks. 500Baht for a full day a few times a year surely does not break the bank

  3. I live close to the new water park and all of my family have been and had a great time, the water slides are fantastic but not for the faint hearted, the main pool is luxurious, meals, drinks etc are reasonably priced as is the entry fee. One has to consider that to build and operate a place like this cost an enourmous sum and it will take the developers quite some time to recever their investment. Chatting with staff the other day they advised the biggest issue was getting visitors to attend when the weather is not so good, like right now with rain everyday.

Get off your butts and go and enjoy a great day out and support a local business

  4. Hi Guys, I have been in exactly the same situation as Mooro, I was fine until I had the first beer then could not stop until I was blitzed. In the end after losing most things in life I went to AA, yes its difficult but when I took the step to speak out I broke down in tears in front of everyone as this was the first time I had spoke openly about my problem without someone laughing as my mates always did as they shoved another beer in my face. Self control is a fantastic thing as NDB says, the problem with drinking for some of us is that you lose self control. It is easy to say just control yourself but that anone doesn't work. I wanted to try medication but couldn't find any in Thailand. Doctors here are no real help, they are not trained in social issues as they are in the likes of the UK.

Give the AA a chance, it may not stop you drinking but it may help you cut back

    Good luck

  5. I have been married to a Thai woman for over five years and things are good now. In the earlier days we had many issues, the cultural side is obviously a big challenge but this can be over come with some give and take. Unfortunatley for most Farang including myself coping with village life is almost impossible; yes some manage bot not so many. Our biggest problem in the early days was other Thai women, no not chasing me but gossiping, so many like to tell stories and lies seemingly with the intent of destroying relationships. It is almost as if they want to see all the drama, crying and fighting as in the Thai TV soaps.

Of course some of the Farang men were also a problem, some seem to think that any woman, married or not is open to chase.

We have now changed our lives mainly by getting rid of some of our "friends" and amazingly life is now peacful.

My advice, give it a chance, take things slow and pick your friend both male and female very carefully.
