  1. FYI- we've just been denied a multiple entry visa applying in Wellington,New Zealand with a U.K. And N.Z passport. Last three years we've had a multiple with no problems. No explanation was given. Everything submitted fine, money in account etc etc. We come back to work in nz for 2-3 months, then holiday, chill and travel in Thailand for 8. Hopefully this was a one off, and others don't get denied for "no reason"!

  2. Thanks Brittim,

The last two years I have received Triple entry TVs from New Zealand whilst visiting....so just wondering if there was a change in the new METV requirements for that....so doesn't look great then! Eek!

Hi all, not sure if I have overlooked it, or just plain dumb.....but when you say you have to apply for a METV back in your home country, does that mean you cannot apply for one eg. if you are a uk citizen visiting in another country eg. New Zealand, Australia?? I'm guessing your meaning that you cannot apply for METV over the borders of nearby countries like Burma,Cambodia, mayalasia etc......

    Thanks in advance

The published conditions at most consulates state that only citizens or residents of the country can apply. In some cases, the conditions are unclear. There is also insufficient experience to know whether exceptions will be made for some nationalities at some consulates.

The default assumption, until evidence is available to the contrary, should be that an METV will not be issued to short term visitors in a country.

  5. Dear people who know stuff,

Just a couple questions regarding buying a car in bkk.

I live in krabi, do I need to change the plates whilst in krabi if it is a bkk car? If so, how? Where? And how much does it normally cost?

Where in Bangkok would you recommend getting a second hand car from? I'm am specifically looking for a Toyota hilux Vigo, which is about 2-4 years old.

    Cheers all

    Andy

  6. Hi all,

Just wondering what ways people get money into Thailand. I am here mostly 9 months of the year. Every year, I have a Thailand bank account. Would you say the cheapest way to get it over is electronic transfer? I would prefer to transfer 9 months of living every year, and If it is, what are the costs involved, ie how much does the bank take etc? Is there a limit? Has any body done this method?

    Thanks all

  7. Perhaps they have stopped doing 3 entry visas but will do a 2 entry visa. You should contact them.

Or you could contact the honorary consulate in Auckland to fined out if they will do a 3 entry visa. Contact info here: http://www.consulate-info.com/consulate/15140/Thailand-in-Auckland

When discussing visas multiple entry means unlimited entries. That is why I stated that tourist visas are not done as multiple entries.

    Hi ubonjoe,

Sorry, i see what you mean about the multi entry thing...i got confused becasue on the application form for a touist visa, it has on form "multi entry visa", we tick that, then put 3 by the side of it..so yep, understand, thanks for the clarification and the advice

  8. Tourist visas are not issued as multiple entries. How many entries have you been getting 2 or 3?

It seems odd they would call and say that they are not doing them but still issued it.

Hi ubonjoe, not too sure about what you meant by issued as multiple entry, but we are on a multiple entry tourist visa, we can enter three times, so if we max it out, we get 8-9 months out of it, we've already had one two years ago, and we are on one now.

Yeh, they called our friend on her mobile and said they were not doing the multi entry, (3x entry) anymore, but on this occasion they said they will just give it as she had already sent payment along with her application. Hence the query....

  9. Hi all,

Does anybody know if there has been a change in the Thai Embassey in NZ regarding giving out multi entry tourist visas? We've had them twice given to us in the last two years, however our friend who has just come over received a phone call from the embassy in Wellington to say they are not doing them anymore, she still recieved it as she already paid them the money, any one know any updates? Couldn't see any Changes in their website.

    Thanks

    Andy

1 more question,if i got a transit visa in yangon airport, then get a flight back the same day, do i get the neccessary stamp at the airport in yangon? so i can then fly back to thailand all good and get my 2 months on my mutli entry tourist visa...

  11. Hi people who know stuff,

I have to activate my third entry on my mutiple tourist visa, and I am flying to burma next monday. I will be in burma for 3 days

Q 1) has anybody obtained a "tourist visa on arrival"? if so was it easy and how much was this?

Q 2) If you cant, I understand that to get one takes 2 days? are the embasseys open on the weekend in bangkok?

thanks in advance for your help :)

  12. Hello Thailand experts,

I am needing to do a border run to activate my 2nd entry on my "multiple entry tourist visa". We are wanting after to be in Krabi for a few days. What is easiest, hiring a car and going to ranong, then driving to Krabi? or, training it down to malaysia, then mini-vanning up to Krabi?

Where do I need to get off for malaysia, do I have to go all the way to butterworth for it? we dont need to go to any embassey or anything, just a border run..

Whats the deal when I get to Ranong, someone said we have to hop on a boat? do they run all day?

    Any advice would be great

    :)
