  1. That is a big loss to that area, I was a regular visitor and I really liked the choice of food there...

but I have found their facebook page and it gives us the following information..

Well, today is the last day at the World of Sport Restaurant in Naklua, happy memories, good times but like they say time to move on! Our new restaurant opens at Centre Condo, Soi 24, South Pattaya on Saturday morning at 8.00am. Same staff, same menu and lots of specials! We also have a fully stocked mini-mart opening on the same day. Lots of Euro food lines, fresh bakery products delivered daily, ready meals, sandwiches etc. plus all the normal things you would expect to find in a local convenience store. Hope to see you all there soon! — at Pattaya Beach, Thailand

Is that soi 24 Pattaya Tai..?? Maybe a good place to go if the new "Buttsys" is crap..

  2. Ok, Regarding to your suggestions , I will resign from my job and go to Samui and phakhan to work as a bar boy.

You're missing the point bro. Once you hook the fish, gradually introduce her to the 'goodlife', and she'll be a Pratunam girl in a jiffy. smile.png

I have been away from BKK for many ayear...What is a Pratunam girl..????

  3. They need to find a few more Aussies. Go Leeds!

No no NO...It was shown on Star sports here in Thailand that in February Harry Kewel was going to Liverpool for 11M quid....the story was later withdrawn..... a few months later what happened.??...the little Ozy shit left and he KNEW he was going months before...as for that ponce Viduka nothing more than a show horse prancing around ... More African strikers is what we need.....

    MOT!!!!!!

  4. When she first came to the UK my wife was miserable.

Mainly because I was out at work and our daughter at school so after taking, on foot as she couldn't drive, our daughter to school she was sat at home alone all day until it was time to collect her.

As it was February and so cold and often raining she found this twice daily journey utterly miserable.

Then she started an English course at the adult education centre next to our daughter's school. Although that was just one day a week it did give her something to do and she did make some friends. It also improved her English enough for her to get a full time job in a large retailer where she started making more friends.

12.5 years later and she is fine, though she still misses Thailand this has as much to do with missing her son and her twin sister than anything else.

She does say, though, that she considers Thailand to be her home, not England, and wants to die in Thailand, not anywhere else. Which is fine by me as I intend to retire to Thailand anyway.

She does have Thai friends, but she and they refuse to have anything to do with the type of group simple1 describes, though there is one such where we live. The women in this group do not work and spend all day at the 'queen bee's' house gambling and gossiping. Most of them also have boyfriends their husbands know nothing about!

I did make the mistake when she first arrived of taking her round various Thai restaurants etc. to introduce her to other Thais and expecting them to be friends. But she said she wanted to make her own friends and would not be friends with someone just because they were Thai. Which is basically the same thing I said to her in Bangkok when she thought I'd be friends with someone just because they were Farang!

But, everyone is different, there is no 'one size fits all' solution. Just remember that it will take time for your partner to settle into a strange country with a strange language and be as patient and understanding as you can.

And keep her away from the queen bee!

    Excellent....EXCELLENT post..

The significance of the last sentence is relevant for any country for visits of any length!!!!

  5. I came accross a bar called Chick n coop... owned by a yank (called coop)! and his wife. Coop has also spent time in England. sits at the bar and is good company whilst the girls are definately hastle free...It is on second road opposite Mikes shopping mall a few shop lots south of kiss food up on the left of a group of bars.....From there you can either head towards Soi Buhkhao after having dined in either Long Horn or the Belgian place.....OR head back towards Beach road and have scoff at Pattaya beer garden ( I prefer it as an afternoon place)..

My preference for food in that area is Long Horn but if you decide PBG or indeed anywhere then just jump on a baht bus and stop where you fancy.

I used to like Drinking street ( after the death of the soi 2/3 bars) but it became a boom boom boom shit music place where the girls are not hastle free...they ignore you.......BUT up on the right is Geordies2...nice place, nice girls......and a nice lady boy...

  6. I am at a loss for words.

    Apparently not.

I suppose this little rant has been cathartic. It gave you an opportunity to get in a dig about Indians (nice show of restraint before naming them ) and, of course, someone managed to do a little Thai bashing, which is always a good way to massage a flabby ego.

    Oh woe is me.

I guess if you feel the need to moan about the mobs of people from the ranks of the "lesser races" queuing up to sit on your impressive bikes, life can't be too bad.

Maybe we can start a contest to find the most ridiculous thing to moan about.

I am not sure how to approach your post..

So I will deal with fact and see how it goes.

It is absolutely a standard daily occurrence for Thai people to sit on other people's bikes..

..Outside the local shops, at any social gathering, house, temple, football match, school, funerals, weddings, boy to temple, waiting outside 7/11s, government offices, unis..<deleted> just about everywhere at anytime.... not Thai bashing...it is what they do...get used to it!!

As for non Thais...well it pisses me off anywhere in the world where tourists are more interested in taking pics of somebody else having fun rather than having themselves.....

  7. Typical Thai government. Unqualified, inexperienced English teachers are good enough for Thai students in state schools because they're cheap - even cheaper than Filipinos.

I rather doubt that Education Minister Phongthep Thepkanjana would be happy having such people teach his children.

As one of these students at a school right now the Thai Ministry of Education has placed all 197 of us in schools all across Thailand including Private and State schools. While yes we may be inexperienced some of us lacking a teachers degree, we are all enthusiastic and able to speak good English. As classroom assistants this is sufficient!

In my school and many others the level of English is very basic so any contact with native speakers is great for students. 4 weeks in and my classes have progressed already! They are keen to learn and want to talk with me all the time! It is fantastic!

Yes, we're cheap but we're all working extremely hard to help our students and also experience the Thai culture! We had to do tests and interviews to get the placements it's not just anyone that signs up.

A little more positivity would be nice.

Are you teaching in a small village?? The girls are the ones that need protection. They want to learn so much to get out of their future as a 14 year old Mother or 18 year old hooker..The boys just disrupt the class because........well .....they are Thai village boys and don't give a toss.....A couple of hundred of you are being placed ..where?? It wouldn't even cover state schools in Bangkok.....

  8. Learning a second language, especially one that is so different than your own is so overwhelming especially for children. I have been trying to speak the Thai language for many years now and am lucky to get my point across in a restaurant. Most of the volunteers are with some kind of college degree and must have been good students to achieve it. They usually don't understand mediocre students. Most people in the world don't learn by rote. I don't understand how this will work. There is another way to learn a language and it is called “Total Physical Response” (TPR) I think young students as well as their teachers will learn with this system because it makes learning fun and there is a lot of laughing. Laughing is something (Thai) children love to do.

I, however, do speak Thai, Isaan Kmer and Isaan Laos, I have lived in different villages for 20 years. I am an NES.......but I don't have a degree or workpermit so lets just let a bunch of youngsters in that will further <deleted> up village education.....but of course they won't be sent where they are really needed..

  9. Can i summons True Corp for the repeated sms they send day after day ? This gives my a headache .

Everybody should text Muhamud Jon Eddy of DTAC every minute night and day untill he realises unsolicited SMSs are not welcome.....Many American business estates in the old days used to have signs up preventing unsolicited callers and yet THIS American CEO doesn't give a toss about intruding on our private lives.......Oh of course we can go to an outlet to get them cancelleed...

  10. So the Welch guys says something to the Aussie and the Aussie says - speak English mate I can't understand a fkn thing you're saying & the Welch guy says I am speaking fkn English what's your problem ... there it goes.....

    It's a language problem..........

All he probably said was "It's your shout you bastard" and the Welshman probably thought he was insulting him.

A good example of Welch and Welsh...2 completely different words in the English language.......and it is very rare that I have had Welsh or Aussie Welch on a round.........although a few Yanks have!!

  11. When I came here 15 years ago---the Idiots used to fight over girls.............how times have changed............. An Australian & a Welshman, I guess its lucky they weren't fighting over something serious like........... sheep.......

If there was a sheep involved a skinny little Kiwi would have jumped in, flogged <deleted> out of the Aussie and the Welshman, and run off with the sheep. (written with tongue in cheek, of course)

It never cesses to amaze me, where the big pumped-up guy always like to flex their mussels on the smaller guy; he should be big enough to walk away. The good thing is he was sat in an Australian bar where I assume most of the punter are from Australia and from my understanding have a dislike of the British/ Welsh; therefore rather than engaging his brain before his fists he got beat-up as well and for the pleasure of that it will also cost him compensation and medical costs for the other guy; well done <deleted>

You nearly got that right. Most Aussies and Welshmen have a dislike of most Englishmen.

What do you mean by the 'Anzac' spirit? Going in and getting a good beating as the Aussies copped against the Turks?

Obviously posted by an imbecile. A shocking insult to the memory of the many Australian servicemen who were killed or wounded in that campaign. ANZAC Day is one of the most important days on the Australian calender.

Shocking...absolutely shocking..I am an English ex soldier that had the honour and pleasure to serve with some pretty neat Aussie special Forces in the 80s..I am embarrassed and ashamed by that post. I am sorry.

    Yep..Boxing Roo bar I think....

  12.

Indian food is a little like pizza. Subjective.

Honestly I don't like to spend at Indian by Nature levels and at normal local levels (which are pretty high anyway) Indian food in Pattaya just isn't that great.

    We make do.

SURE,,I would much rather eat at the place next to the Kasikorn ATM than go inside the Golden Chimney..

It's a good thing to know where you don't want to go. Narrows things down!

Yeh...we really are spoilt for choice....all within a 10 baht taxi ride too!!!!

I don't know the Indian Chimney, but the Golden Chimney on Pattaya Tai by the Shell station is excellent 4 star ambiance with reasonable prices for Pattaya Indian food and the chef is imported from India not local "Tai Indian" like so many others.

Yes that's a fancy place. No business relation to Chimney. Chimney also claims to have an Indian chef.

There is absolutely nothing about its exterrior that tempts me to go further than looking at the outside menu...

So YOU are the only person I have seen in there eating.......from outside I would put the ambience at 0. It looks more like a company canteen with table cloths with a couple of servers in the window picking their noses waiting for the wonder......

  16. Hey thanks all.

I have a few very good leads and Indian Chimney or Indian By Nature sound like the front-runners. I don't care too much about price (I probably should have mentioned that first), but more on the enjoyment. If I want to save a buck I will eat at home but when I go out, I am not counting and want to enjoy it.

I like spicy so Jingthing's suggestion might be a goer. The free refills sound good but might be dangerous for my growing and oversize already waistline.

Thanks again and I hope to report back on my experience. Of course all comments provided by you all are subject to your opinions at the time and value your input.

Well done mate...it is good to get feedback from the OP..
