  1. dekestone, I am in the UK and not in Thailand until later in the year.

I first got AF after a hip operation then 2 long Thailand flights with DVT.

I was put on Warfarin and that worked well, it got to going to outpatients in hospitakl about once every 3 months for a reading.

I asked my GP about the new range of tablets and he put me on Apixaban, it seems to work OK and I do not have to keep going to hospital for blood readings.

  2. Very sad to read all this, I thought that the Chinese were now heading to Cambodia, Sinhoukville for the gambling? Although I admit that there are about **** million Chinese. ????

I usually come to Thailand twice a year, 4 weeks at a time, this high season it will only be once for all the usual reasons.

Unfortunately I am a bit too old and settled in my ways to try the Philippines or Vietnam etc, FWIW these days I go to Hua Hin, not so much fun and not so many beautiful ladies as Bangkok or Pattaya, but better value for money.

  3. For a couple of years when coming on holiday to Thailand I bought the TAT insurance but this only covers you until you are 70.

I have tried some UK  travel insurance companies and declared my pre existing medical conditions and can get a months cover for £73 which I think is reasonable.

Are there any Thai companies that cover farangs over 70 and on meds for holiday cover?

    TIA

  4. Hello, I come to Thailand for 3/4 weeks in November and February each year, in the past I have used Thai Expat Tv which was excellent for my needs. If I go for ACE TV can you access the British channels on demand, that is not watch them live, I imagine that is OK else many viewers would be looking at Dragons Den at about 4am. :)

I have a Windows 7 laptop and the wifi in my guesthouse is usually OK with no or little buffering.

Will Ace do what Thai Expat TV did for me in the past?

    TIA

  5. If i fly TG (entrance 1-4?) then after checking in I go up the escalator to security and then down again to the immigration area, I have asked staff where the fast track was and they told me they do not have one there.

As these exits are mostly for TG I think Thai airways have their own seperate business class gates.

Maybe for entrances (5-9?) then there is a fast track exit.

I think it is s bit hit and miss how busy security and immmigration is, I usually check in about 1015 am and most times there are a lot of Chinese about, and they love joining 2 queues with their friends and one swops at the last minute.

  6. I have visited Koh Tao a number of times in the past 12 years although I have not been for about 3 or 4 years, I do like the island, it is just that I tend not to travel around Thailand any more.

On one visit a larger than life Thai bar owner? who never wore a shirt, was Pum Pui and had Tattoos, a real character for sure, he gave me his mobile phone number and said "if you have any problems on Koh Tao call me, I am ex head of Police"

Another time at 2359 hours New Years Eve, I was waiting to buy a drink at a beachside bar, I forget the name but somewhere near to AC. The bar boss went around the counter, opened the cash draw and got out a revolver, he then walked through the bar to the beach and joined the bangs of the fireworks with the banging of his bullets heading into the New Year sky.

It is certainly a small Island where you do not want to upset anybody.

  7. Hello all, although I joined Thai Visa years ago  I have not used the forums much, slap on the wrist for me. :)

I come to Thailand for a month at a time twice a year, November and February roughly.

For the past couple of years I have subscribed to Thai Expat TV each time for a month and I have found the product quality excellent for watching UK TV with hardly any buffering at all.

It was possible to watch Sky News etc virtually live, plus catch up on the good dramas as required.

So, as you can guess I am very down hearing that Thai Expat TV has been shut down, I always felt the service was very business like and had no problems at all.

I am not going to ask for recommendations etc at this stage as I will not arrive until November 1st, but it is my intention to use Thai Visa forums regularly and keep up to speed as my 3 other Thai forums have passed their sell by date.

    Chok Dee.
