The indication I received came from someone working for a visa service company, who mentioned that in Laos they are not always asking for the full 400k at the initial visa stage. That said, I understand this is unofficial information and I am trying to verify it through recent firsthand experience. Yes, I agree this would be the safest approach. At the moment, however, I do not yet have the full 400k available in the account, although I expect to meet that requirement in a few months when applying for the extension. Yes, definitely. The intention is to obtain the 1-year extension in Bangkok after entering with the Non-O. Bangkok. Yes, I have Thai bank accounts in two different banks. For additional context: My current Visa Exemption expires in the second week of March. I also need to return to my home country around 31 March 2026 for about twelve days. In any case, I would need to exit Thailand before my current permission of stay ends. If obtaining the Non-O from Laos with a lower financial threshold (e.g. 40k instead of 400k at the initial visa stage) is realistically possible, it would currently be the most practical solution for me. I have reviewed the official instructions, but I would appreciate clarification based on recent real-world experience. 1️⃣ Financial Requirement – 40,000 or 400,000 THB?For the 1-year extension inside Thailand, the requirement is clearly: 400,000 THB in a Thai bank account or 40,000 THB monthly income However, I have received informal indications specifically regarding applications made in Laos suggesting that for the initial 90-day Non-O visa, the financial requirement may not be 400,000 THB, but possibly only 40,000 THB, or at least a lower threshold than what is typically referenced for extensions. So my questions are: Has anyone recently applied in Vientiane for the initial 90-day Non-O Marriage visa? Were you asked to show 400,000 THB, 40,000 THB, or another amount?
