  1. well im back home for the holidays and a friend gave me a rather nice set of poker chips to play with.....will i be able to bring it back to bkk with me?! or will it cause a hoopla as gambling is illegal...keep in mind i would be playing strictly for chips not money :D:o

just wantin to know if its alright to bring back with me or if its gonna be a headache

  2. so i guess im gonna just have to intrust it's safety to air canada? Its not so much it getting crushed im worried about, more so the sticky fingers of baggage handlers.

I figured it would be a long shot to even try to carry it on since i could club the pilots and take over the plane :o

anyways, on the same thought, wheres the best table in bangers? i heard mega break was pretty good but didnt peek in last time....

  3. this may sound like a stupid question, but better to ask and know!...but im makin the move soon ( not that part ) and bringin my pool cue...thing is i dont have a terribly large bag and space is an issue in it, but i doubt i can carry it on. Anyone brought th ier cue? do i just have to bite the bullet and buy a bigger bag or is thier an easy way...also little worried about my bag getting rifled through anyway, its an expensive cue

  4. Howdy all, well im looking for a nice 5 star type restaurant in bkk for my return dinner with the lady, just wondering if yall had any recomendations for good ones with nice atmospheres?

ive heard good things about the 3 in the banyan tree, but never tried them myself! but i reckon vertigos a bit iffy since ill be back in june, and it might rain?

  5. lol its sad how thats a difficult question....but ive never had a beer i regretted ( spirits is a whole nother story) so ima go beer.

Makes you wonder how beer became such a key role in the modern mans lifestyle...When im ######ing exausted...best thing is a cold one, meeting some old friends, ill buy em a beer....

but a good woman is a close second

  6. ahaha yea i know class grammar is different than net grammar, i doubt ill have a class on the proper use of "lol" :o i do see your point though

Yes im a native speaker, and this class is the first part of my practicum ( i think ill have about 6 classes ( all different levels ) in all by the end of it, with the option of doing more.

  7. Was just curious to hear some stories about peoples first day teaching english or with a particularly bad class...

i imagine thiers some pretty good ones out thier!

The reason im asking this is ive got my first english class in a few weeks ( albiet in canada not asia) and im definatly curious to see some peoples experiances the first class! Im confident and prepared, but nonetheless nervous as ######, so tips would also be welcomed.

  8. well, thanks all for the comments and advice, interesting to see all the perspectives of this one problem...made me think of somethings i would not have otherwise. Will definatly just not get any deeper and see what happens when im in bkk. And since i promised it in the begining ill buy beers for the ones with most helpfull advice when im back :D, but its up to you to remind me :o

  9. well trust me, any decision i make i will make on my own, i was simply gathering information to help me with that decision. I dont give a f@@ if she works in a bar, its the simple fact that i dont want to be stuck in a relationship where i never know whats the truth and whats not. I just thought i should find out what kind of bar it is first. Because thier is a big difference between a "hostess" bar, and a regular disco.

Ill most definatly still say hello when i come back to bkk, but i just dont wanna always have to worry wether or not my girls lying( and i know all people lie, but thiers lies, and then thiers lies that ###### with your head ). who knows, somthing might happen again, things change , but for now ( this decision is probably helped by the fact im not thier right now ) ill listen to my brain and call it off.

  10. yea i think pretty much everyone is right, i reckon im not going to pursue this any farther...

I only asked on here to make sure my suspicions ( how the ###### do you spell that ) before i ######ed up a potentially good thing, which it was when i was still in los. Turns out its a potentially dangerous ( mabye not dangerous, but incredibly frustrating ) thing. mai pen rai.

thnks for the offer djpat, but as far as i know shes still only an intern at a radio station( part of her uni program ) and only djs small little things, i reckon she lied about dj'ing the club, since she has admitted to "talking with customers"

Thanks for the thoughts boys, ill let ya know how things go

  11. thanks ken! so i guess by legit you mean its just another bar to "see" a girl ? ( albiet artsy and less in your face than the others? ) or are you suggesting she may be telling the truth?!

lol the quote "tons of staff, and even a few waiters " worried me, what do the other staff do :D

thank god its not the fetish bar! :o , its not so much the fact that she works in the bar ( ive seen bar girls before, no hangups thier ), but its more the mind numbingly frustrating lies shes telling...shes finally admitted she "talks to customers" but absolutly denies ever going with them ( <deleted> if you ask me, ive been in enough bars to know the probability of this )...and she said she gets angry when they touch her..

so either shes actually that naieve, or im right.

    zap, bang, TO THE MOON!

  12. lol those were my fears exactly...yea ill probably stick with my instinct before hiring someone though, as she decided to not tell me about this job for a few weeks ( despite daily contact )

ce la vi! just please lord dont let it be the fetish bar! :o

  13. howdy boys( or all girls who would know of this topic;) ), my gf just got a job in some bar called the brick on soi 33, never been thier, but i would like to know what kind of a place this is

( she was never in a bar when i was thier, so i want to know if shes jerkin my chain by saying "shes just a dj" )

i would like to trust her, but im not back long term for a few months and quite frankly ive heard enough horror stories to not always trust a thai person ( as it is almost customary to lie to save face for the other person ), and to know many a man has been fooled by his " honest" gf

anyways, my gut is its more than just a dance bar , but i would very much like this confirmed, any help is appreaciated ( ill buy ya a beer when im back)

  14. that is a source of frustation isnt it? the whole dark skin thing...

i must say that my gf( non bg , who i met in a mall, not robinsons:P) had a bit of a complex about her dark skin when i met her, saying all thai people thought she was ugly, blah blah blah...it actually took a fair bit of convincing to make her believe i actually liked her dark skin!

so mabye beauty1 would like to enlighten us( or at least try to, because its a bloody hard question ) why exactly thai people generally have a hard on for white skin? ( not talking about farangs:P, but strictly on a thai/thai basis )

  15. good to see more people getting interested in ju jitsu in thailand....its rough finding much more than thai boxing ( which i still love ) sometimes in los.

another good club is bangkok fight club www.bangkokfightclub.com , i rolled with those guys for a few months last year and had a blast, great learning enviro... lol as for sambo or freestyle wrestling, good luck man, as i said before, this is a country geared towards kickboxing. But thiers no doubt that thiers expats out thier doin sambo, you just gotta find em:P

  16. Cook by day, superhero by night.....not a fan of my day job at least:P, soon to be teaching and more in los, anything really to get away from a godamn kitchen

  17. So im coming to teach soon, ive got my tefl, and a bit of experiance under my belt ( just tutoring small groups of japanese at my uni ) but alas i have another year to go for my degree....

so the question is, would a "fast" dgree like this one /edit help me with allt hat work permit red tape? i know no self respecting school would accept it as a real degree, but for the purpose of getting a work permit, would this work?
