  1. A Thai hotel receptionist told me about an incident that occurred at the hotel where she works in Pattaya,

a motorcycle taxi pulled up in the early hours to drop off his fare, an English guest of the hotel,

he started arguing with the taxi guy who it turned out was demanding 3 times the normal fare, the guest refused, and gave the guy the amount other taxis had asked for every night over the preceding two weeks,

The Thai taxi guy returned later with three other Thai men on mopeds, and asked reception to ring the guest and ask him to come to reception as they wanted to talk to him, he arrived at reception and the taxi guy again demanded the large fare he had previously dreamed up, the guest refused again and the taxi guy feeling safe in the knowledge that his three monkey brained pals would back him up, took a swing at him,

my friend at the hotel told me it was over in a flash, the guest decked the taxi guy and two of his mates and went after the remaining guy who was running for his moped, he laid him out also, without breaking a sweat, seems they picked on the wrong guy.

The hotel called the police on behalf of the guest, but the taxi morons had long gone by the time they got to the hotel.

My friend at reception told me that the next morning the guest checked out telling reception there would be a good chance they would return with new troops armed with guns and knives, so it was better he moved on, I had to agree, that was probably the right move under the circumstances!

  2. plenty of rich thai girls in bkk that wants farangs, so why deal around with poor issan girls..

    reverse scamming is the shit..

Not sure there's tons of actual rich Thai's queuing up to meet farangs but there's certainly plenty of girls who are not poor who are open to dating a farang.

The main reason most Thai girls (whether poor or not so poor) want to date a farang is because Thai guys aren't interested in them or at least Thai guys on a similar educational and economic level and they don't want to date down.

The majority of girls I've come across who are interested in myself and other farangs I know is because they struggle to get a Thai boyfriend of course they mostly don't admit this and say "thai men no good...they cheat, they lie, they steal, they drink, they gamble etc" (no different from most of us then?).

Reasons they can't get a local bf include....

    1) The way they look - not necessarily ugly but maybe darker skin / short / pudgy / not the typical Thai perception of beauty - but often still appealing to farang.

    2) They are overweight by Thai standards - again doesn't mean fat or obese we can be talking 50kgs here which most Thai's consider very fat yet they can look anything but if they are tall especially compared to Western women who would do anything to be so slim.

    3) Single mums - Thai guys will not accept another guys kids.

Not all. I've met plenty who didn't fit into any of the above but seemed to have a thing for farang still, a lot of them had lived abroad for study and work and had maybe had a taste of a life style or man they liked and didn't want to go back to dating local guys for whatever reason.

Solid rebuttal, Spade. But I think falkan is referring to rich bargirls. You know, those with multiple sponsors and pulling in 200,000 bt/month.

Rich bargirls?????? Why are they working in a bar then?

So they can meet more potential sponsors and get richer.

  3. I put a deposit of 160.000 Baht down on a 2 bedroom condo being built back in 2009, I was married at the time, but before the condo was finished my wife and I separated, so I decided I would look for something smaller as I was now on my own, In the contract it stated that I could have my deposit returned once the management had found a new buyer, two years later and still no buyer, so I decided to go and have a look for myself, I saw a Thai guy enter my apartment, I asked the management why they had told me it was unsold when I could see it was occupied, "oh yes it is sold now but new owner can not get money from bank so cannot give you" why did you give him the keys without first getting a deposit from him I asked, "The condo builder know him he good man"

I don't care if he is a saint give me back my deposit it is owed by you now, I replied.

eventually the manager agreed to pay me back 20.000 baht a month until paid saying the new owner had agreed to pay this to the office, Bullshit, Bullshit, and more Bullshit, but in LOS getting your money back even in bits is a victory, four months later and 80.000 baht surprisingly paid back i get a call from the office telling me not to come for the next payment as they had received a letter from the local government, saying the condos were built without the proper paperwork, they told me that all the owners were now having to go through the court to keep there condos, so I would have to do the same to get the rest of my money back, Oh the scams in LOS so many and at all levels.

Last I heard the tenants were still waiting for a court hearing and in the meantime their electric and water supply had been cut off.

I dropped out, more than a little pleased that I had got something back from the manager who for sure had pocketed the deposit from my condos new owner.

Now I rent much less risk!!

  4. Very doubtful that the girl in the kiosk would hand over 100.000 Baht for inspection unless she was running a scam against the two accused,

I was scammed 15 years ago at a banks exchange booth on beach road, I had counted out 400 pounds in my room before heading to the banks exchange booth, I counted it again in front of the girl at the booth before handing it over, then I made my mistake, a customer behind me was a friend of mine I hadn't seen for a while so we started to chat, I took my eyes off the girl in the booth, big mistake, she called to me after a couple of minutes "Hey Mister here your money" no receipt or required signature, only handed me my Thai baht folded, I counted it out in front of her and it was around 6000 baht short, 100 pounds at the time, I told her she had made a mistake and why no receipt, she said, " oh you want receipt mister no ploblem, and no mistake mister you give me 300 pounds"

I complained to the bank manager responsible for the booth, he spoke with her and told me, she said she give you correct sir, so must be you make mistake. bite the bullet and go home time.

I now watch them like a hawk when changing money.

  5. Yes the Indian tourists are a bloody nuisance, almost every time I park my Custom Harley (always where I can keep an eye on it) I will spot a group of Indians leaving the middle of the road where they always tend to walk and heading to my bike, as I know for a fact after many encounters they will look at it for a moment or two, then remove my helmet from the seat and climb onto it for a photo op, a few weeks after the bike was built somebody had climbed onto it and dropped it on the road, it had been put back on its side stand but was damaged, cost me 10.000 Baht to fix it.

Now when I see Indians approaching my bike I am less than friendly and send them packing.

My friend came across two sat on his new Harley and a child sat on the gas tank.

all other nationalities have asked me first if they can just take photos only.

  6. I remember this guy.

The peacefully yellow shirts ambushed him and he had to scurry over a wall at Dusit Zoo to save himself from a lynching.

    No?

Did anybody prosecute that mob or are the criminals walking free I wonder?

Yes, this guy was "in charge" when the international airport was commandeered and closed by the yellow shirts.

YEP! I remember that act of international terrorism. coffee1.gif

    Yeah I remember too,

I arrived at the Airport to find it eerily quiet , the Emirates staff in their hurry to leave had forgotten to leave a note for their customers letting them know they had f****d off, A cop told me to leave as quickly as i could, no flights today, last couple of taxis downstairs, wanted B3000 back to Pattaya, Had to pay!! Thanks to those morons in yellow I was stuck in Pattaya for another two weeks with no money, no help from the UK goverment. and my credit cards already maxed out!

  7. I had my new Navara parked up in the garage of my house for 4 months, when I took it out on the road again i noticed two things, a smell and a loss of power, so into Nissan and let them sort it, Nissan guys found a dead rat, and before it had expired it had eaten the wiring for the turbo, free of charge fix which was a pleasant surprise.

  8. Famous? More like Infamous.

    You can't polish a turd.

No you can't, but you can roll it in glitter.

The first and last time I visited the Nana Disco would be around 20 years ago, lots of attractive friendly girls, I was one of only six or seven guys in there at the time, I left with a very pretty lady, always planned to return until I heard that it was now a grubby place, full of older girls, and that if you didn't watch your drink you were likely to be slipped a Mickey Finn should you invite one to join you in your hotel room. But on reading that it has now been refurbished maybe Its a good time to risk another look.

  9. I hope they have learnt a lesson for future riding and that the injuries are not serious but enough to remind them and those they know.

Although judging by the rate of motorbike incidents like this history has yet to to teach it's lesson.

i do not think any lessons are learned, almost 100% of Thai's have had bike accidents and a huge number continue to ride like idiots.

So many, where parent was killed in an accident and yet they continue to ride without helmets or any regard for the road or traffic

I agree with the above post, many Thais do ride without regard for road or traffic, but its not surprising really when you consider that they have never had proper training, and I have never seen a moped rider pulled over for speeding, riding on the pavement, or riding against the flow of traffic because they are too lazy to ride over to the left hand side, the cops could have a field day in collaring underage riders three on a bike, with no licence and insurance at the school gates at the end of school each day. And the cops also have a big poster campaign reading 100% crackdown on riders not wearing crash helmets yet they often ride around wearing only a baseball caps, this does to send a good message to young impressionable riders who soon realize they really can get away with breaking most laws on the roads
