Depends on what you want!! Yes I will agree that maybe you can live in pattaya for 50,000 baht a month but you will be living basically the basic life. I used to live in pattaya and it was a stretch to live on my budget that was a little more than 50,000 but to be honest I lived it up too mush and probably could have lived a little cheaper if I didn't drink every other night.

My advice....... Your income would last a lot longer if you moved to mahasarakhan or KhonKaen, far far cheaper but still enables you to live a fantastic lifestyle and live out your thai dreams with cash to spare!

I understand the attraction to pattaya but to be honest.... Been there have the t shirt and still loving a better life in KhonKaen she last 3 years and I have never been happier!

I avoid roadside food stalls and traditional thai restaurants simply because I've got sick too many times, seems that unregulated unhygienic greasy spoon kitchens like that are pushing more and more people to unhealthy but safe hygienic places like Burger King , KFC and McDonald's !!!!

Once they are regulated and checked and certified safe like most other countries then people would start to trust what the eat in these so called healthy local thai eateries !!!

The worst thing about living in Thailand is not having an accountable police force!!! They see farangs = $$$$$$$$$$!

Mate I really feel for you and your awful situation but you must be strong and take control of your life! I understand the complications and torment you are going through at losing her son who you clearly love and provided for as your own. If nothing changes and you accept her bullying and harassment without standing up to her then she will see that as a weakness and her aggression towards you will only get stronger and more frequent until your health both physically and mentally suffers. I'm afraid it's time for you to make a decision once and for all! Ask yourself a few home truths.... What's most important to you at this time and in your future? You need to think this through and be honest with yourself and start thinking about YOUR happiness and future rather than worrying about anyone else's feelings and well being ! You seem like a nice guy but please grow a pair and be strong and stand tall and face her back and tell her it's over!! Give her prior notice of a few days to leave and if she ain't gone by that deadline threaten her with legal authorisation to have her physically removed. What ever or how much it costs finding a good lawyer to do this is way far less than living a life of misery and financial ruin keeping this leech and her families heads above water!

Most thai corrupt officials think it's the "NORM" to bribe farangs because it is acceptable and ignored by the authorities and corrupt police whom themselves are experts in duping Money from non nationals at every opportunity.

It really is time that the Thai goverment woke up and smelt the coffee and realises that these non nationals and guests to their country already help and spend a great deal of their hard earned cash investing and bulking up the Thai tourist industry and unless they get their fingers out of their fat pockets and take action then unrepairable damage will hit their economy and tourists and so called " STUPID FARANGS" will vote and show their fastest ion and anger with their feet!
