  1. Here is some correspondence I had with the Oz embassy a while ago.

Having read the FAQ regarding stat decs on the embassy website, I am writing to clarify that stating that I am in receipt of an Australian government military pension (Comsuper DFRDB military pension) providing   documentary proof would still qualify. If for example a stat dec was submitted as follows would this be acceptable?I  am in receipt of a Comsuper  DFRDB military pension paid fortnightly giving an annual income of$$$$$$$.As I am making a statement that I have a pension paid by the Australian Government  with supporting verification would this be acceptable?

    Here is the reply:

As of 7 January we will no longer witness statutory declarations which declare income or bank balances, regardless of where the income comes from. If you wish to make an appointment prior to then to have you statutory declaration witnessed, please do so via our website; https://thailand.embassy.gov.au/bkok/home.html. Otherwise you will need to discuss with Thai immigration how you are able to demonstrate that you meet their requirements for a retirement visa; their number is 02) 141 9889.

Pretty much says it all I think?

  2. Wednesday 25th,reported with usual copies, handed the completed form with copies of passport. When recieving the new report date I pointed out that I had a barcode in my passport. Was given a full apology that the "uni" students had not seen it and that next time the copies of my passport would not be needed. So if you have the barcode make sure they are aware of it when you front to the desk

  3. Thanks for the replies so far...........

Yes of course I am in Thailand, this is the Thailand Motor Forum, and no I am not Thai so flattening my battery and using more fuel is not an issue.

The topic "Daytime Running Lights" kinda answers the question. As to having them fitted, it seems a good idea!

I was only asking if anyone has them or has knowledge of what I have been told (which I do suspect is total BS)

  4. >>) I am from US - need the notartized Embassy letter of my residence in Thailand.

A letter from immigration won't work?

And obviously if you have a work permit, dont need any proof of residence, WP suffices

    and

" At expiration, the clerk told me the exact same process begins anew" not quite...for renewal, dont need to provide copies of your overseas DL, they already have this on record and a medical certificate may or may not be required depends on the office

Would you know if the yellow Tambien Ban (house book for farrang) would be good enough for proof of residence, or would i still require a letter of residencefrom my Embassy?

    many thanks

    Chris

Tabien Bann is all you will need, also good for buying and selling cars and a few other address related issues.

  5. The US Embassy seems happy to give their citizens the necessary paperwork to support their retirement visa application.

However, an Australian friend had no such joy from his Embassy, and after words were exchanged, and he questioned the parentage of the senior offical who was denying him this paperwork, he was frog-marched out of the Embassy by security!!

How true the above is, I have no way of confirming. Any other Australian national had this problem? :)

Australian embassy always helpful. Just completed my 3rd annual visa extension. Have pension from Australia, completed a "Stat Dec" to that effect ,no problem. Using a Stat Dec can cover a number of things , all you are doing is having what you "say" verified

  6. Where to buy / have made the all important garden shed?? Preferably made in Zincalum (for the Aussies) of even timber.
