Hi all
Moved this thread from the General topic as seem to be more traffic here.
I will be moving out of Bangkok for good and would like to seek some advice on sending stuff cheaply out of thailand.
I need to send to 2 locations, one is New York City and the other is Kuala Lumpur.
Mainly clothes & books to NYC and some furniture, electronic items, books, glassware (wedding gifts) to KL.
Do not need these items to be delivered quickly so the only concern is the cost.
Also if I want to sell some of this stuff before I leave, how can I do this with the least hassle?
Any suggestions is deeply appreciated.
Thank you.

yes agree with Mark, the asia hotel is probably the most convenient if you need to use the skytrain. Its directly connected to the station through a walkway and is about 1000 baht.

Hi all
Does anyone know how much is the airport taxi fare from the CM intl airport to Central Duangtawan hotel? Are there other alternatives of transportation from the airport to the hotel?
TQ

Thanks guys.
danishgung, i will definitely try yr agent, Gung hope she can read simple english even if she can't speak well.
Florin, lufthansa is a great deal except that the flight times suck, I guess thats why its cheap. Probably danish's travel agent will get me VNA which is good enough. I can only afford one annual leave in addition to the weekend. If luftansa have to take 2 days leave min.
skylar, good suggestion but just take too much time & too complicated.
TQ all once again.

..oh is it just my computer that is screwing up.
Anyway if you have suggestion of honest travel agent, please let me know. Need to get to HCMC for just 2 to 3 days only.
Many thanks

Can we pay utility bills (TOT and electricity) at all bank counters? No charge? I thought you could only pay at 7-11. Post office is no good for me as none is near my home or office.

Bambi TQ TQ
So the southern bus terminal will definitely have a bus to pranburi, right?
In that case yr idea of taking the BTS until Siam is ###### good idea.
BTW do you do this full time.....i.e. helping strangers with weird requests?
You are so kind.
-
Thanks Bambi.
Actually took the train last time o Hua Hin and it took about 5 hours and stopped at every station. So maybe I took the wrong train.
So does the express train stop in Pranburi?
I took the bus back last time from Hua hin and it was just 3 hours to the southern terminal. Then from Southern terminal to my home in sukumvit soi 30, it took about 1 hour 15 minutes
Do u think its worth a try to just appear in Vic Monument and try my luck? Or just get the train?

Is it possible to get a bus to Pranburi (Evason Hua Hin) from Victory monument? I know that there are buses from the southern bus terminal but it is a real drag to get there.
Or do we have to get off in Hua Hin and get another bus to Pranburi, and in that case how much and is it comfortable?
Many thanks.

Hi Guys
Me & wife are residing in Bangkok and going on one of those TAT organised tours for the long weekend of 12 August to Phuket.
For the price range that we chose (the lowest) , we have been offered these 12 choices:
1) Patong Lodge
2) Patong Resort
3) Phuket Island Pavilion
4) Heyton Leelavadee
5) Aloha Villa
6) Phuket Golden
7) Karon Beach
8) Siam Phuket Resort
9) Ka Ta Garden
10) Karon Whale
11) Sand Inn
12) Cs resort
We have never been to Phuket and have no idea about the hotels above. BTW the names were translated by my thai friend who said that his translation may not be so accurate.
Wife would like so place near the town for shopping and eating and for me as long as not too far from beach (5 minutes walk) is great. Hotel should be clean. nice view is a plus.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

bBsed on the good points made, could I deduce that buying a 2nd hand well liked brand name car that is say 4 years old, say something like an auto toyota soluna, would retain most of its value selling it off in 2-3 years time at forced sale or quick sale , you know like Digger mentioned leaving Bangkok quickly at the end of work contract. Taking any offer that comes quickly. Would that make more economic sense than buying a totally new car in terms of the car depreciation?
I am assuming maintaing this toyota car is not going to break the bank.

Thanks guys great advice.
Is there any website in english with price listing of new cars?
paulfr, is the 510KB for a new Vios?
The petchuburi's rental rates are pretty good for the older cars, thanks j634.
Is there no daihatsu cars here, or daewoo here? There have nice small cars like the matiz for daewoo and boon for daihatsu. Yeap what about Hyudai Getz and Kia Picanto ?
cheers

Hi
Been here for 2 months. Need advice. Will be here for about 2-3 years.
Would it be better to rent or buy a car? Currently using BTS and taxis - but sometimes not convenient for out of town.
How much average rent for say a Soluna?
If buy looking for the smallest car - is Honda Jazz the smallest. And what about second hand? Where to get the prices?
BTW what is the cheapest new car in the market? I think its Jazz but not sure. Can it hold its value and would it be easy to dispose in 2-3 years time.
Sorry if I am repeating some questions that may have already been answered.
thanks.

There is this place near the Sala Daeng BTS station, on Silom road and opposite of Patpong. The DVDs are THB100 each but the quality is very good. Its is very popular with locals too. You can easily find it looking at the crowd crowding around the vendor.
