  1. The Thai government could save many lives if they just made it law that the windscreen of a vehicle should not be tinted so dark that at nighttime they cannot see where the hell they are going. I mean seriously have you seen how dark so many cars are, how can they see? I just don't get it.

  2. Mate what is the address of that office if you could?

Also I had my first license (1 year) that expired about 3 years ago, decided to get driving again. Do you know if I start from the beginning with the 1 year license or is it more involved?

    regards

  3. So I had a 1 year license a few years ago now I am back and want another, the problem is I do not have my old license.

Do not have my old license. (Misplaced it 2 years ago)

    Do have Australian License

    Do have WP

Do have 12 month non O

    Do have wife

    Do have kids

Any tips would be great. Also which is the best office to go to in Chonburi, with the shortest wait time?

    Cheers

  4. I know the term Mega resort gets a little over used but that is what is needed. A truly international resort with convention center, 1,000's of new hotel rooms and shopping malls for the foreigners who will flock to it. The local airport would be wing tip to wing tip with private jets, cash would flow in to the country. The jobs would be in the tens of thousands from construction to the flow on effect of the operation, suppliers, transport, utilities etc etc.

A company that would actually put the staff on the books and pay taxes, now that is a novel idea.

Should it go to Pattaya, what would 10 or 20,000 new jobs do for the area?

Or just knock the industry and say all countries who put in casinos got it wrong. What other project could have such an impact?

    • Gambling is already here on a large scale, prohibition just does not work and never has. History has shown us that banning things helps only the criminal gangs, just look at the US when booze was banned, they built the mafia.

By legalizing a casino the government receives income by way of taxes, a lot of taxes and a large portion from foreign players.

With all this said the Thai government is probably too unstable to attract the multi billion dollar investment from the multi nationals. The worst move they could make is to allow a casino without a huge commitment.

Yes some people cannot help themselves and casinos do cause social problems, but the benefits far out number the problems, problems that are already here.

So should it be banned for all so the money flows underground and to the border casinos, Thailand still has to deal with the problems but does not get one baht of revenue.

  5. This would be one of the largest developments Thailand will see. The big Casino operators will invest 5 billion USD or more to secure a casino here. They would pay a billion just for the license. It is a game changer for Thailand. The flow on effect would be huge.

Personally I would have at least two operators to encourage healthy competition.

Like in Singapore it would cost a few thousand baht for locals to get in the door so the mum and dad market folk would be excluded. The international players would drop billions of baht into the Thai economy.

Best bet is figure out where you think it will be located and buy real estate.

  6. I have said it before, so many cars cannot see at night due to the dark tinted windscreens. An interesting statistic would be to check the level on window titnting on the veihcles involved in accidents at night.

How can you avoid something you cannot see?

Ban the windcreen tinting and you will see a reduction in night time accidents.

  7. Window tinting is one of the biggest problems here. Cars driving around with the front window so dark they can only see lights at night. Ban window tinting on the front window would be a great start. When I picked my my nissan pickup they had the front window with tint so dark at night it was near impossible to drive safe, got it taken off the next day.
