  1. Thailand permits majority Australian ownership of major restaurants or hotels (up to 60%). The previous limit was 49.9%.

    http://dfat.gov.au/trade/agreements/tafta/pages/key-outcomes-of-the-thailand-australia-free-trade-agreement.aspx

Anyone familiar with TV will know that Thai officials make up their own rules. Would be amazed if they allowed an Australian to own 60%!

Any Australians reading TV getting the visa concessions described in TAFTA?

All these regulations apply ONLY to big multi national companies, notice the words? MAJOR restaurants or hotels.

True...if you've got name brand behind you the Thais won't <deleted> with you. In fact they'd bend over to allow your business in LOS.

  2. The kilo of gold wasn't lying around his apartment it was around his neck, and on his wrist- notice in the pic he's not wearing his trade mark gold? He's not a bad guy- to many guys judgemental on here by the way someone looks.

Perhaps you are unable to get this through your very thick skull. He's not being judged on his appearance. He's being judged for charging desperate people 300% interest on illegal loans. What's so hard to understand?
  3. Maybe one day you will be shaken down by the police and have drugs planted on you.

Then maybe you will see HIS point of view.

Personally, I treat everyone with the same respect despite their appearance.

But seems most of you back up the Pattaya police here because of Sharky's appearance.

Appearance has nothing to do with it. How about his shake down in charging desperate people 300% interest?
  4. I do not see why it would present a problem to go. After what has happened, and the subsequent scrutiny by the police and public, I would think that the island would be one of the safest in the country. Let's put it this way, I find it highly unlikely that there would be a repeat of what occurred anytime in the near future.

I don't....in fact I think it's highly likely. Some people got away with muder and pinned it on innocent people.
  5. "What do Thai women look for in a man?"

Money, money, money, makes the world go round................

"what kind of men turn off Thai women?"

    No money, no honey, darling.

Maybe money is what's needed for a woman to put up with you. I can only imagine the type of cash that's needed to be paid out for some poor Thai lady to have to deal with you. Why don't you look after those step children instead of spending every waking hour on this forum you TROLL.

  6. 8 k will last a month IMO, if tge op is setting himself up in BKK

Nah..two months easy. And that's living on soi 4 at a serviced apartment, drinking every day and women mak mak. I've done it before. Also went to all the major tourist traps and ate very well. The only issue was laundry. Paid 80 thb a kg which worked out to $16 for a load of laundry that would have cost me $4 in Canada. Learned very fast where to go after that...Onnut for 180 thb.
  7. For good sake, he's 93 years old, stop talking about all this ww2. Hunting old people. He's properly already on the way to the die.

Really, so this is your take on the holocaust? is that all you got out of it? leave him alone

it happened 60 years ago? have you learned nothing?

so he's 93 eh? how many 93 old people did he helped to kill? no one than told him to leave

them alone and forgot about them..

being an ignorant is not a crime, showing it, is....

So then why not kill every German? Aside from a handful of people most Jews believe every German was complacent. Why have no Russians been brought to justice for the rape and murders of millions of German women and children?
  8. Dear Cram,

Seeing you state, "We have the right", remember you are a VISITOR in Thailand, all of your rights went out the window once you entered the Airport. They make the rules, whether they be right or wrong in our eyes, but after living here many years, I always say to myself, their country, their rules, live with them or leave. I have to laugh when I see post from "Visitors" saying, I'll take my money to another country, do you really think Thai Immigration cares about a few baht?? NOPE.

True but....if enough tourists say screw Thailand too much hassle. You'll see things change fast.

  9. OP, your post lacks of some consistency.

You start showing off with some very nice Thai Ladies showing you their sites.

Then you go on about the blind spot.

And you end hitting a coconut.

Please don't complicate things so much......you have to understand there are simple minds around, like mine that can't get your gist.

Perhaps showing off to an old fart like you. For me just a reality. Hey...aren't you gay? ;)
  10. Oh and Ban Chang is especially harrowing. Main Suk rd has angle parking. So you have people backing out onto the street. White knuckle driving all the time I guess. Three close calls in half an hour tooling around there. Thank god I found soi 25 to relax. Lol

  11. I've spent the last three years on and off in various areas of Thailand. I've had the fortune of having some very nice Thai ladies chauffeur me around and show me many sites. Of course I've also had the usual taxi and tuk tuk experiences too.

The one thing I've noticed about Thai driving is the lack of checking ones blind spot. I mean it's non existent. Every turn, lane change, backing up is all done with the rear and or side mirrors. They appear to really rely on the reverse sensor beeps.

I understand why there are so many accidents here. Or perhaps I'm shocked there aren't more. The other day I was riding my motorbike down by the beach in Rayong and almost hit a coconut on the road. That's a new one for me...gotta keep your eyes wide open here. People, stray dogs, cars backing our or turning onto the road without looking. And now coconuts to deal with Lol.
