  1. Hi,

I will be returning back to the States in the Fall. I have about 10 suitcases worth of stuff to ship back. There aren't any large items such as furniture; only small things like clothes and electronics.

What is the best way to ship these things back? Do the big shipping companies (fedex, ups, dhl) have small crates or containers, or will I have to ship out everything in smaller parcels such as a suitcase?

Maybe there other options besides the big shipping companies???

    Any advice will be appreciated.

  2. Hi,

My friend and I are planning on taking our kayaks from Chiang Mai to the King's Dam (about 3 hours away) for a 10 day fishing camping trip. We usually have no problems with transportation because we throw our kayaks in his truck and go. However, his truck is in the shop and will be for another month.

We do not want to wait another month to go, and do not want to rent boats at the dam (we definitely want to take our own kayaks).

Is there a solution to this?

We were thinking that renting a truck and driver to take us down would be perfect. That way the driver could return the rental back to Chiang Mai the same day. As for being picked up, we would do the same thing....get the rented truck and driver to pick us up at the dam (and also have some Chiang Mai friends make sure this happens and we arent forgotten about at the dam!)

Does anyone know of a better way, or have a better idea?

  3. The items are birthday gifts that were sent in one box. The box/package was shipped through the US Postal service, but my family sent it via 'Global Express Guaranteed'. Fedex is used by the US Postal service as a partner for international shipping when using the 'global express guaranteed' method.

The itemised list sent initially with the package was actually more of a general list put together by my brother. However, I have put together an accurate itemised list, along with prices of each item, and sent it to customs via email.

    This is a mess.....

  4. I have a package (fishing/camping items) from fedex stuck in customs in Bangkok. I live in Chiang Mai. The Customs personnel want to see my passport (not a copy) and are asking for an itemized list of the items.

Does anyone have experience in dealing with this type of issue? Is there an 'easy' way to get my package out of BKK and sent to me in Chiang Mai?

  5. My Iphone 5 just stopped connecting to my home wifi , and other wifi areas yesterday. I've done almost everything to remedy this: restarting, restarting with hard start, turning modem off (time capsule) and back on again, rebooting phone, reloading phone...... nothing has worked.

What the heck is going on here? Anyone familiar with this, or have a remedy?

  6. Hi,

I am looking to add accessories to my PCX 150.

Where are GOOD places to look for accessories; anywhere in Thailand, or on the web - doesn't matter. Of course I have hit some local shops up around Chaing Mai, but it is really hit or miss with them. And, I have also hit up the major honda stores. I like some of the Honda store selections, but they are limited.

It would be really cool to find a place where I could actually do some 'shopping' for accessories instead of your run of the mill tacky add-ons.

    thanks, j

  7. Hi,

Do the doctors in Thailand write long 'reports' to insurance companies like they do in America? A report being like a narrative of sorts: detailed history, symptoms, diagnosis, treatments, treatment time table, etc.

I ask because I asked a doctor at CM Ram and he absolutely refused to give me a detailed report. He said it would take too long to write. Regardless, my insurance company is demanding one from me.

Does anyone know a doctor in CM that will assist me with a thorough report for my insurance company? Surely, there is a back doctor here that is familiar with American Insurance companies. I hope.

    Thanks

  8. I want to buy a NEW book that helps me study for a LSAT test back in the states. It is required with a study class I am attending. Is there a way I can track one down in Thailand if I can get the ISBN #?

I live in Chiang Mai. Is there a bookstore that can assist me with this problem?

    Thank you

  9. Yes you used the entry when you entered Thailand. You need to purchase a re-entry permit to keep your permission to stay valid. Single 1000 baht, multiple 3800 baht. The permisssion to stay stamp was the stamp that you got in your passport when you entered. It tells you the date that you must exit by.

Okay, that is what I thought...... I have an a one year non-ed visa, single entry, renewable every 90 days, and I used it up my single entry when returning to Chiang Mai from Loas during the Visa run.

I want to go to the States for Christmas, and do some travelling to Laos and Vietnam next year. In order to get the multiple entry stamp is it just a matter of going to immigration with all of the necessary paperwork, e.g., money, passport, copies of passport and visa, photos, language class paperwork, etc.?

  10. I have to go to Vientiane for my initial run on my education visa and am trying to make sure I have everything I need before I go (copies, photos, etc.).

Does anyone have a good checklist of the things I should have prepared? Or, add/subtract to what I already have:

    * passport (and copies)

    * Paperwork from school (and copies)

    * photo copies

    * US dollars (although I'm not exactly sure how much as it pertains to visa related expenses)

    * Baht (not exactly sure how much on this either as it pertains to paying all visa related expenses)

    * Visa request form (and copies)

And of course money for hotel, bus, taxi, food, etc.

    Am I missing some things?

BTW - flying from Chiang Mai to Udon Thani, bussing from there across the border to Laos.

    Thanks in advance!

  11. Follow your heart, the journey is the reward. My only advice is to make sure you are running towards something and not running away from something.

I am in the same boat as you are, and just started living in Chiang Mai. I am getting my feet wet, submersing myself in the culture for a while, and actually finding out whether the 'calling' of Thailand is actually real or just me being blissfully ignorant! thumbsup.gif

  12. Hi,

I usually workout 5 days a week and sometimes use a supplement sold by GNC in the States known as 'No Explode'. It is a pretty intense energy powder that really gives me a boost during my workouts. I went by a GNC in Bangkok to by some 'No Explode' and they did not have any. Unfortunately, the GNC employee said that I will not find it at any GNC in Thailand. Even worse, he didn't have a good recomendation for a decent energy replacement (he recommended creatine (?)).

QUESTION: Does anyone know of a type of energy workout supplement (pills, powder, etc) that I can buy in Thailand, and where can I buy it?
