It's not surprising that Thaivisa.com members would agree with the anti-progressive, brain-dead opinions of Thais on this subject...disregard for human life and lack of any sort of compassion are characteristics both of many Thais and the racist right-wing farang cabal which makes up much of the membership here. Yaaaawwwwwn.
If your wife or children or a loved one had been callously murdered I am
pretty sure you would change your tune, and not let him/her/them get away
with a slap on the wrist.
All murderers deserve to die.

You can take a Thai girl out of Thailand but you can not take the Thai out of a Thai girl. Interested to know who grabbed the knife first!!!
Irrespective of who grabbed the knife first, the killer is guilty.
There is no question about it.

About two years ago, I did exactly the same thing, I entered Thailand
with one passport and left the country with another ( I did not overstay ).
At the passport control they told me that I had entered Thailand in a
different passport, and they asked to see the other one.
I showed them the other one and they let me through. I presume it would
be a different matter if I were to overstay, and showed them different
passports.
Both my passports are non-Thai. The outcome might well be different in
different situations if one of the passport is Thai.

Hello,
I would like to hear from anyone who had moved to Thailand and shipped with them
their pet dogs. I have a three year old German Shepherd which I am planning to take
with me when I move to Thailand for retirement at the end of this year or early next year.
There is no way I am going to leave her here in the UK when I move. I have cage-trained
her since she was twelve weeks old, and she can stay in her cage up to six hours at a
stretch.
Have researched the procedures on animal importing to Thailand and have spoken to
the Vet about rabies inoculation.
I am thinking of shipping her with Thai Airways, with me on the same plane, as it is a
direct flight from London.
Thanks.

Have a look at Batanes island.
You'll love it !

When I am with my young TG, I always sleep with
one eye open .... literally !
Downside is I only get half the sleep I need.
-
The guy must thank his lucky stars he got away pretty much unscathed.
If it were to happen to a coloured man groping an English girl in UK in the
same setting the outcome could have been very different.
Being a farang doesn't give you an automatic right to treat other races
disrespectfully these days, especially when you are in their country.

I will be buying a cow soon.

@ Guemlum
I have a Nationwide account here in UK as well as a saving account with
Bangkok bank in Bangkok, both in the same name. I usually transfer money
from Nationwide to Bangkok bank using moneybookers (renamed Skrill
now). Takes a few days.
Once the money is in my Bangkok bank, it takes only a few clicks to transfer
any amount to any nominated bank in Thailand.
Overall cheaper than using SWIFT, and you can do it from home here in UK.

I don't understand why so many people in this forum continue to stay in Thailand when they seem to hate everything about it.
Exactly !

Who gives 50k Euros to somebody who calls you on the phone? I know the response from tv posters will be that these call center guys prey on the elderly, but c'mon folks, wise up
You can always fool some of the people all the time,
and all the people some of the time.

They have every right to ban anything they do not like.
It is their country.
If people do not like the laws of the country then they
can leave.

I'm not sure what 'collagen' is. But if it's some sort of 'get smart' drink that they advertise on tv, it's obviously working on your wife. As she somehow can "force you everyday to go to 7/11. Next time, buy a bottle for yourself and have a few swigs.
I have never seen the stuff sold at 7/11.
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia define collagen as:
Collagen (/ˈkɒlədʒɨn/) is a group of naturally occurring proteins found in animals, especially in the flesh and
connective tissues of mammals.[1] It is the main component of connective tissue, and is the most abundant protein
in mammals,[2] making up about 25% to 35% of the whole-body protein content. Collagen, in the form of elongated
fibrils, is mostly found in fibrous tissues such as tendon, ligament and skin, and is also abundant in cornea, cartilage,
bone, blood vessels, the gut, and intervertebral disc. The fibroblast is the most common cell which creates collagen.
Maybe he meant ham, sausage or meat products.

I personally think they should be ashamed of themselves, especially the Farang selling 'cup cakes' at the market. Geezz
Ashamed? Why?
Exactly !
Why should anyone be ashamed of earning an honest penny !
You have lost your marbles !!

I wonder if it is any easier for non-Thai Asians who speak passable
Thai, but who physically are indistinguishable from the locals ?
Just a thought.
Maybe indistinguishable for you - "they all look the same".
I've gotten to the point where I can tell what a Thai's first language is, often get the province right within a few hundred K by looking at their facial structure, about half the time.
More like 75% hit rate when they're Buriram/Surin/Sisaket Khmer or Suai speakers.
No way would a native Thai not recognize that a Japanese, Korean etc are foreigners at first glance. . .
One, you have missed my point.
Two, a native Thai half of of the time cannot recognize
a Japanese, Korean at first glance.
Three, "gotten to the point where I can tell what a Thai's
first language is" is baloney !
-
True integration very very difficult, for 99% of us impossible.
We can find our place within a particular community/group, but we'll always be the farang.

I have never come across this small blue stamp, so to be honest I do
not really know. Certainly, bank notes with pen and pencil scribblings
are rejected. I know for certain that some private "unofficial" exchanges
accept marked bills at a lower exchange rate, roughly one to two per
cent lower.
Your best bet would be to have some unmarked currency, either Bahts
or Pound Sterling or Euros.
-
The best currency to take with you is US dollar. They are the easiest
to change into the local currency of “Kyat”, although Pound sterling
and Euros are also accepted.
You will get the highest exchange rate with higher denominations like
50 dollar and 100 dollar bills. But also take with you one dollar and
five dollar bills to settle low purchases and taxi fares.
Make sure the notes are not creased, not folded, not faded and do not
have any pen or pencil marks as they will be rejected or the exchange
rate lowered ! I found this very irritating. You just have to accept it.
Bear in mind that hotels there are no longer cheap. The rates have gone
through the roof due to shortage of tourist accommodation.

Due to the increased influx of tourists and the limited number of accomodation
prices are no longer what it used to be, and the hotel rates are going through
the roof !
If you want to go, make sure you have a room booked, either independently
or through a travel agent.

I have been visiting the LOS for the past seven years or so on tourist visas,
and recently I opened two bank accounts, (savings acount with ATM card)
at SCB and Bangkok Bank, both in Bangkok.
I had no difficulties and managed to do it on the first try.
I took along a friend who is a Thai citizen and who speaks Thai.
