Paine may have been the best WK/batsman in the land way back during Sandpapergate when he was offered the captaincy, but a few others have romped past him since.   Now that he has fallen on his sword as skipper, I think his position in the First XI is untenable.   

The Pommy bowlers and the Barmy Army are less than subtle with their sledging and would give Paine hell, and that could be a major distraction to the team during the Ashes.

Alex Carey should have replaced him two seasons ago.   There ya go.   Back on topic.

Is that Hugh Greenwood dropping on one knee in support of The Black Lives Matter Movement?  NO!!!!!  He is just  having a quiet word with his Maker to get him through an upcoming game.

I sympathise with Quinton de Kock for his futile attempt not to be pressured to kneel like all the other sheeple during the recent T20 World Cup.   Of course he was branded a racist, and of course he was forced to apologise.

Phil Carman packed a lot of controversies  into his 100 odd games with four VFL clubs, but none more infamous than his two headbutts on boundary umpire Graeme Carbery in 1980.   Fabulous Phil enjoyed a twenty week holiday for his efforts.

I know umps need to be protected at all times, but this incident highlights how they sometimes unnecessarily get into the faces of angry volatile players.

Carbery was a little bit gay, and apparently endured a never-ending hurl of abuse from fans across the fence.   He died in 2017.   Following is a very interesting article about him.

Congrats to Ozzydom for an excellent result, and thanx to all punters for  another fun season of gossip and banter.

As for me, I won the weekly tipping six times, and bottomed out another six.   Consistency is an issue that needs to be addressed if I am to move forward.

Given the recent history of the Carlton Board, under-achievers like Brendon Bolton or Mick Malthouse might be given another crack at the coaching job.   That would give me a warm tingling feeling all over.

Almost 50 years later, mullets and tatts have made a resolute comeback, .but. the lace-up jumper and lung dart hanging from his lips will probably never be seen on an AFL ground again.

For the record, Tiger Balme king hit Geoff Southby and broke his jaw during the game and wan't even reported.   Who do I complain to?
