Thank you for your reply. I've not been very clear.
My wife is English and has a work permit as a teacher. This is being unexpectedly cancelled in the next few days. She has Visa valid until 12th December 2018 issued on showing her work permit. You are correct in saying that my visa, again valid until 12th December 2018, was issued because we are married (English marriage certificate shown).
Does the cancellation of her work permit affect 'Valid Until' date of 12th December? If it does, what do we do in order to get some time to pack up and leave, or alternatively get a retirement visa?
Once again my apologies for being unclear and thanks for your help.

My work permit is being cancelled in the next few days. I had 'Admitted until 12/12/18 stamped in my passport' when I last entered because I had a one year Non-Immigrant O visa issued last December. Will the cancellation of my work permit change the visa, or am I still good until 12th December 2018? Anyone give a definitive answer?

Yes, thanks. It was particularly the non-requirement of this agency for any funds that puzzled me / made me slightly wary. Hence the request to chat with anyone who has actually used this agency. I gather there are others offering similar things.

Has anyone had experience of using the Thai Visa Centre (https://thaivisacentre.com) to obtain a retirement visa. They have an ad on Facebook, and a charming lady called Grace is making a very attractive offer! It just seems a little too good to be true. Will gladly share more information by PM or email.

I'd like to buy one of those smart white uniforms with epaulettes you see thai civil servants wearing from time to time. Anyone know where?

Folk Music lovers will know how hard it has been to find traditional folk music sessions in Bangkok. Well, it's about to change. There's a new Folk Music session starting up on Sunday 30th November at 7.30 at the Queen Bee, Sukhamvit soi 26 (opposite the Double Tree Hotel). Planned for a regular meeting once a month on the last sunday of the month. If you play, sing, or just enjoy trad folk music, come and support this attempt to get a regular folk music spot going in BKK. Bring instrument, voice, or just yourself.

Declaring ones innocence does not make one innocent.
Not sure about other countries but the US is chock full of prisoners who declare their innocence.
Not saying they did it not saying they didn't.
Only saying recanting a confession is not proof either way.
Since the possibility continues to exist that they did commit this horrendous crime, I am not going to extend my sympathy to them.
I will leave that to the posters here who really want to see a Thai convicted.
That final comment is an obscene statement. Many of us who are reading this thread don't "really want to see a Thai convicted". What we want is a proper, professional investigation that sees the real perpetrators convicted on solid evidence, and not this obviously false, staged farce of a scape-goating where torture replaces professional investigation, and that has blighted the lives of two young people. Anyone with any legal training could drive a coach and horses through the evidence, and how the Thai authorities expect to provide a fair trial after the dubioius re-enactment is beyond me.

It should be possible to raise sufficient funds to provide a very good lawyer for the two suspects simply through crowd funding. There are good international human rights lawyers who would take this on.

Why do you ask?
I'm a professional skipper by trade. Fascinated to see the underwater profile of these boats. The stability puzzles me. I suppose it's to do with the massive lump of engine, but with over 300 people all moving to the side of the boat to get off at Pratunam, the thing doesn't roll much..... And with the overcrowding, low freeboard when full to bursting, and presumed relatively flat bottom, going round the corner at Sapan Klongtun at any speed seems interesting.

They have to be hauled out somewhere for maintenance, but I haven't been able to find out where their boatyard is. Anyone know?

Standing in the lift this morning, which was rather full, the Thai builder next to me shouted at someone trying to squeeze in. It sounded like 'Prow', as in the front of a ship. I've looked up just about everything I can think of, but can't find it's meaning. I suppose it may be rude, or a colloquialism. Can anyone shed any light on it, please?

Thank you. Thats brilliant. Now I know not only what it is, but how to spell it and therefore how to say it properly. Brilliant!

The current Mrs Keelbolt (who is also English) and I were lunching in a lovely restaurant near our flat, and the waiter offered us a wonderful, cool, blackcurrent type drink. It wasn't quite blackcurrent - it had something bitter in the background and lacked that cloying sweetness that blackcurrent often has. When I asked him what it was, he repeated several times, slowly and carefully so I could get the tones I guess, G'tiap (or, how I remember it, G'tea app).
Can anyone please (a) enlighten me on what this drink actually contains, and ( the thai spelling? Thanks very much in advance.

The wife and I (both UK Expats) fancy a trip to Lombok. We have (rather poor) health insurance from BUPA but we'd like to get travel insurance for the trip. Our UK broker says he can't arrange anything from the UK, and we've got no idea where to go to find something here. Anyone got any suggestions about where we can find a reasonably priced travel insurance package?

I notice that our local mall is selling Radio Controlled watches. My 6 band Radio Controlled Casio won't get time codes in BKK - nearest transmitter appears to be China. Is there a local transmitter, or is the mall selling something that can't be used here?

Excellent. Thanks.

Thanks. Just what I needed.
Is there a definition of 'Temporary' after which permanency is required?

Advice please?
I have a UK registered Limited Company which provides consultancy work, and until now have not used it in Thailand. However, I have been approached to do some work for a Thai company and want to do this through my UK Limited Company so that I can bill them from the UK Limited Company. As I am not going to be employed by the Thai company, but by my own UK Limited Company, I don't think I can ask the Thai company to provide me with a work permit - or can I? Should I be applying for a work permit in the name of my own company?
How does this one work, please?

Does anyone know of any interest in traditional english morris dancing in BKK? (Serious answers only, please!). Living here now, and am missing my weekly Morris Dancing. If there's a side I don't know about, please PM me. And if not, and others are interested, again please PM me or email me. Could be fun (as well as a great way to lose weight in this climate!)

Thank you elviajiro and Dexlowe.
If we left the country in the 7 day period, could we then return and get the usual two month tourist visa? I don't want to bring lots of money into the country and then transfer it back again, losing money on both transfers, because we only need two or three months to pack up and go home....
