  1. I was also concern about following all the right procedures correctly etc, and since I was going to visit gf/wife, my parents and my other relative I thought this could possibly be interpreted as "this is not holiday, it's holiday and family visit - hence you need a non immigrant visa".

    Ron

Actually the reasons you have given are not reasons that you can generally use to get a Non Imm visa, you are still a tourist. If you had Thai family (not g/f) then that is a reason but as contributors have said the consulate in Hull is known to issue the Non Imm O for 'visiting friends" but few consulates do.

The fact that you qualify for a tourist now and later may qualify for a Non Imm should make no difference to any future application.

Good luck in your efforts to stay longer, keep an eye on this forum and you will know the best places to go should you need it.

  2. There are plenty of places that stay open to 6AM anyway. I met one of the miniters sins at one place last week. Kinda ironic!

Well Chucky, I'm not sure what bars you go to...whenever I come home to Bangkok I go out with my wife till 1am at most bars and 2am at a couple that I know of. I was home a couple of weeks ago...

The controls on the sale of these products is surely relegated to shops, presumably to help prevent underage purchases (well that could be one reason - although I take the point raised re triads). As the regulation wants to enforce control between 5pm and midnight, that would mean that Wombles worries are in fact completely wrong - he just has to wait till after midnight for his after dinner drink - as long as it's before 1am or maybe 2am...  :o

Sorry Blondie - the Ministers don't pay for their drinks anyway...we do!

  3. My friend purchased a membership at Tanya Thanee. The course is not so good, really for beginners. But I suggest you try out a few top courses first. The exclusive courses can be arranged by these guys, www.golfasian.com . Then you can see what it is like to play on the finest courses around the country and maybe buy a membership where you like most.

Let me know how it turns out.

  4. I just decided to continue my classes at Barn Passaa thai (BPT). The key point was my excellent teacher. I believe that no matter what about the school (location, cost, envirnment, etc), the key is to find a teacher that suits your own study routine. This goes a long way towards having a sucessful experience in learning to speak, read, and write Thai (any subject for that matter). The teachers I have met at BPT seem to be very good. My comments on the school owner still apply, but I guess she has a business to run and this explains her trying to squeeze in as many students as possible. I hope in the future she can also focus more on the students needs.

Let me know if you have any questions. What time/days do you study? How about we first meet for lunch one day?

PS I think I got my comments mixed up about your teacher. Lets talk more when we meet.

  5. I have been studying at Ban passaya thai (BPT) for the past 1.5 month. My overall experince has been good, not great. The teacher is excellent,. She has taught me to read (very well), wite (so-so) and speak (much better than before). However, the school owner (k. Yarowat) is a little strange. Every week or so, she trys to change my tecaher without asking me. This i find annoying and unprofessional. It has become such a nuciance I am thinking about switching schools starting next week. There is a new school nearby formed by 3 college language graduates (all very cute also). I will give them a try for my next course. let me know if anyone has any questions or needs more info. For the orignal posters (ezybee, seasia tranp, and shola) who are around we can get together one day for lunch. any thoughts?

  6. I am up fro a round or two pretty much anytime. Please contact me off board at mas3 at runbox dot com

I have around 18 handicap and any of the courses around Bangkok are fine. if coming from Sukumvit area, perhaps we can drive tooether as I have a set of wheels here.

    Thanks

can join u if u wish (hcp 21). played Mueng Ake already but -comparing cost of taxi (Bht 420,00 including express way toll) and greenfee (Bht 300,00 weekdays+200,00 caddy+some caddy tipp) I'd suggest we play Naval or Krungthep Kreetha GC or similar....pm me (anyone pm me) if interested.
