  1. I'm sure glad everyone here on TV is so knowledgeable and sure about all the corruption here in Thailand. The TV members seem to know exactly how much is paid per month and to whom it's paid. I guess all these people who know this should go immediately to the new PM with all their proof and then be real heros to the entire world for cleaning up the country. Now if they are just talking, I would suggest they close their mouths and let the Thai gov clean up their (Thais) own country.

If it's so corrupt here, these really smart people should go home to their (own)place of birth. Jus sayen

  2. I don't write often, although I've been a member for several years. I would like to make a point about the only two elected prime ministers since 2000.

When people refer to elected PM, in a democracy, that means they were elected honestly by the people. In Thailand, during the last two elections, the parties that selected the two P M were in fact voted in by the people, again from the outside it may look like these honestly elected PM were taken out by the army. In reality, the parties were elected after the farmers were promised double the price for their rice, free medical care, free education and many other free things.

These were not honest elections by any means. When votes are bought with the peoples money ( and they were) then the elections should have been null and void as they were. When this is all completed by the Army, a new constitution is written where votes cannot be bought so easily, then Thailand will be a democratic country.

I'm from the US and every election I find the big money wins. Yes,that's not right either but that money, which bought the election, is and was not the peoples money where the people got screwed two times. I believe the next pres election in the US will show the world that we (US) can see how bad the last four years have been and we the people will change that. Jus sayin

  3. No matter who becomes Prime Minister, that person must be true within his heart for the love of the people, love of the Country and love of the King.

When Thaksin became prime minister, I discussed with many people about how great of a PM he could be. He was very wealthy, and with that wealth he would be able to get rid of the fraud within the country. I was very wrong. Maybe every very wealthy person needs more and more, which they can never spend. Seems such a waste.

I've been following this Country's politics for over 40 years, even worked very close with the Thai police and US government for quite some time. I saw bad things happen way back then but nothing like the hate and corruption we have now or did have a couple months age

I guess we can only hope that who ever takes over the government in the next few months or even a year or so, will do right by the people and the King and family and give everyone a better life. Just sayin

  4. My family is coming to Bangkok, however it's not because of the "Miracle Year of the Amazing Thailand". It's because we have been able to save enough to purchase the 8 tickets we needed. We came to see family, and for no other reason. Years ago i thought how nice it would be to purchase a home here and retire, my children and grandchildren could come to visit and enjoy life. With the corruption I see now from government officials and others, it's just not worth the risk. When i first arrived in the early 70s, there was corruption, but no where near as bad as today. Thailand expects more tourist for their Miracle Year, well they had first better talk to the national airline and see if the cost can be reduced to a reasonable amount. I was able to purchase tickets from China Air for approximately 1/2 the amount Thai Inter was charging. I am sure with better service also. I guess im just blowing off a little steam, but Thailand is much worse now than 40 years ago!

  5. I have always used Star tours in L/A to buy my tickets. they are a wholesaler and normally have great prices. Last week i tried to book my family (6 adults and 3 children) and the best price i could get was $980 ( adult and child) on China Air. I went directly to CA and found adult fares at $910 and childrens $700+. Needless to say i booked directly. The family will be leaving in late March and returning in April. When looking on line CA has a full sheet giving the various prices on certain dates if you are flexable. good luck

  6. The discussions people should be thinking about are "what can we do to help those flooded" and not what Ms Yingluck says after learning English in Kentucky. if you happen to visit that State, you'll be lucky to understand anything anyone says there. The drawl is really bad and i know this, cause i lived there before.

  7. Once the wife becomes a citizen, she can file an I-130 for her brother. the time lapse for her brother to come from Thailand is now approximately 12 to 13 years. Other countries vary, Philippines is about 18 years, mexico is about 28 years, so no, there is no way she can bring her brother. she might be able to have her parents apply for a visitor visa and include her brother with that group. If they obtain the B1/B2 vsia tehy will be able to come, but, and when they arrive in the states, they still are not permitted to work. Sorry about the negative news

  8. it would be real nice to bring pattaya back to when i first saw it in July 1973. beautiful beach, nice huts, no hotels, friendly natives, very few guns, no trouble makers and just a nice place to live. everything so cheap, even with the baht at 20-25 to 1. just living in the past but for those who remember those times were great. i was also nearly 40 years younger and could relax with one or two or even three at times but now just memories, good ones though. we should all live in the past, once in awhile, if it was good

  9. In 2004 and 05 i began checking all hospitals in the bkk area for a knee replacement. i could have had the operation here in the US but opted for Thailand. i researched for about a year and settled on Vej Thani, in BKK.

this was the best choice i could ahve made. the surgery started on monday evening and i awoke about noon on tuesday. on wednesday morning my doctor came in and ask if i wanted to try and walk. i thought he was crazy but i said i would try. i have been walking ever since. i have no pain what so ever. i only wish i had done it a couple years earlier. had i opted for the surgery in the US the knee would havve lasted about 10 to 12 years and then anouther replacement. the one i received, not approved in the US, is expected to last about 35 years.

during the week after the surgery, i spoke with several of the girls who were giving me physical thearpy. they were not part of the hospital staff, but rather from a contracted company. they told me that for a knee or hip replacement that Vej Thani was the best hospital in Thailanad to havve it done. oter areas of the body i should go elsewhere but for knees and hip, there was no better place than Vej Thani.

it's not only the cost at the time but what happens later that is important. i know several people whose knee replacements, here in the US, that have casued total disability for life.

i highly recommend Vej Thani and you can research the hospital on line and read comments by others who havve had the surgery. good luck. don't spare any expense if you want to walk agin.

the cost at that time was about280,000 baht.

  10. With a fair trial, maybe the jury should consist of family members of those killed from the parties listed in some of the above comments. This is one time a trial is not needed to see the guilt of this person. My problem is why the red shirts don't see his abuse of his actions.

  11. the reds are asking for UN help to stop the government from hurting them. they, the reds want everything changed for their benifit. they state what they are asking is fo all the people. i beleive there are over 60 million residents in thailand and how many demonstrators are there. maybe the ones demonstrating only want the money promised by taksen if they win. in others comments it has been noted that most of the reds are thugs, druggies and homeless who are working for the money. no democracy needed for them, just the money

  12. i agree with the belief of the red shirts. Thailand needs change in many ways. yes i am a falang, married to a thai for nearly 41 years. in addition, i worked with the thai police in the northeast and throughout thailand in the early 1970's.

i keep up to date as much as i cna and i was really impressed with thaksin when he became prime minister. my thoughts were maybe things will change for the better for the poor.

i was wrong! THAKSIN was and is nothing more than a common thief. he stole billions from the thai people for the short period of time he was prime minister. he gave away billions, making the poor believe it was from him when in reality it was the tax dollars from the thai people he gave away. one million for each village! where did that come from, not him although many believe it did.

if the poor want change, they must believe in someone to do that changing. it cannot be thaksin as he will only reclaim what was never his in the first place and then take more. in addition he may try to kil another 2500 to 5000 young people to try and set an example for how powerful he was. not a good idea. next time it may be your mother, father, borther or sister or friend who is killed on his orders. don't let that happen, please.

let's give the current governmnet a chance to complete their term ( which is legal) and then with new elections, not bought by thaksin see what happens to thailand. it may be much more free and acceptable to all of the thai people.

i am 100% yellow, but i do believe in waht the reds are doing, only if they do it without thaksin. don't let anymore thais die because thaksin wants more money. even his semi leaders want nothing more than his money. they have no idea on the running of a government and never will.

im not even going to try and proof this writing asi just wanted to make a point. i do hope my point gets back to the poor that are fighting for the thief thank you fred

  13. if you're filing the I-129 (K-1 or K-3) it's taking about 5 months for completion. That is from beginning to end. The I-130 is also taking about the same time. It is much faster now that USCIS has pretty well caught up on their backlog of cases.

The key point is to review the BKK Embassy web site and find out exatly what documents you willl be required to submit to the US State Department in Portsmouth NH where the visa is isssued. (Birth cert, police clearance, name change etc.).

If you have all the documents in order, everything will go according to plan. You will need original documents for State Department. This has recently changed, before you took everything to the embassy in BKK.

The above requirements are for the I-129 and/or I-130

To obtain a B/1-2, as stated above, you must prove you will be coming back to Thailand. If that cannot be proven, you will be denied. DO NOT LIE OR EVEN STRETCH THE TRUTH!!! If you lie, and they will catch you, then your chance of ever getting as tourist visa will be nil.

I have helped over 50 people bring friends to the United States and only two of those were denied. Those denials were due to them having applied before they contacted me. In their initial application they had omitted a couple of things. Again, DO NOT LIE or you will never get the visa

  14. i had a total knee replacement in 2005 at Vejthani hospital in BKK. i know they do knees, shoulders and hips. i could not have ask for anything better. i have had no pain nor any other complications from my surgery. in addition, i know in the US that a knee replacement will last only about 10 years. my knee is expected to last 35, however i will be dead long before that. my surgery was done on monday night and i was walking wednesday morning and have not stopped yet. i was in the hospital for 8 days and the entire bill was less than $7,000 US. to check my doctors name just sign in to Vejthani hospital and research patients comments and u will find fred ledbetter and others. they are the best!! moreinformation u may PM

  15. cris, u might also have the friends she wants too visit write a letter to "Whom it May Concern" and explain that she is coming to vist them in Michigan and for how long. also explain in the letter they will be taking care of all of her expenses whhile she is her. send that letter to her and she can turn it in with her other documents. i have assisted several friends in bringing their friends to the US from Thailand. questions [email protected]

  16. the length of the visa given to an individual in bkk does not matter as to how long a visitor may stay in the US. the visa is issued by STATE and the length of stay is given (allowed) by USCIS upon arrival at teh US port of entry.

the visa may be issued for a period of 1 week to 10 years and the entry to teh US must be made before the visa expires. when you arrive at the port of entry, USCIS will ask why you are coming, where are you going ect. if you tell them you will be here for only one week they will stamp your I-94 for one week. if you indicate you will be traveling with friends or even by youself for a couple of months they will stamp your visa for up to 6 months. (no longer on a B1/2 visa) so don't worry about your visa only being good for 2 weeks. just make sure you enter before the expiration date of the visa and tell USCIS (immigration officer) how long you owuld like to stay, up to the 6 months.

another thing is that yes, if you come to the US as a visitor, you can get married and file an I-130 to keep you spouse in the US with no problem!

  17. 1. if you are out of the US for over 1 year, without an advance parole, you can lose your green card when you try to reenter.

    2. with the advance parole, filed before you leave the US you can stay out for 2 years

    3. if married to a US citizen you can obtain citizenship at the 3 year mark but for any time out of the US over 6 months, most of the time you lived in the US does not count for the 3 year time period.

    4. when you reenter the US and are ask where you live, if your answer is somewhere out of the US , yes, your "Green Card" can and in most cases will be taken.

    5. if your Green Card" is taken you must then start the netire process over again, the same as the first time you applied.

    6. i agree, homeland security( us immigration) and the state department (issues the visas) have no respect for each other and at times can be 100% oppsite of their answers. be careful

7 a 10 year visa is not automatic when you are married. both state and immigrations frown on a visa in lieu of a green card. if you are in the US and visit out of country and then reenter the US within just a few days, you may be denied a reentry using the 10 year visa. it's not really written in black and white about how long you must be out of the country but is up to the inspection officer when you try to re enter. the visa is much much cheaper and "uncle sam" wants all the money he can get. the visa is about $200.00 total and the green card is now about $2500.00 total.

    8. i do this for a living so i keep pretty current
