  1. Hey 2 satang

I want to be there longer too ... but my company won't let me leave all my shitty work here for that long :D sad huh?

And I don't wanna wait that long before applying visa either, but now I'll have to wait a lil for my bf to get all the legalised letter & his mother's financial proof. Since now in Holland, it's carnival fest holiday, and everything'll be open and back to work again next Wednesday. So... I have to wait for that :o

I asked some thai ppl and they said if your documents are completed, and it's only just a visa for very short stay like that, it shouldn't take longer than 2 weeks to obtain. If the process ever got longer, we could suspect we might not be granted! >.< So hmmm yup, i'll try to apply before 20th of Feb (cose my flight is on 8th April & back around 19th April)

I'm gonna try my best & hope for the best!! Aah thank you anyway :D

  2. Thank you for all advices :D

I'm planning to go visit him this April. Now collecting all documents needed to request visa for ..bout 10-12 days stay (I want it longer, but I couldn't take more days off work :o ) I'll have my bf's mother be the sponsor :D I'll also submit my Bank statement too, although there's not much money in it. And My mom'll go with me too. But she's a housewife now. So, my bf's mom has to be sponsor for my mom too.

----You think there will be a big chance of me & my mom not being able to get this tourist visa? Or you think asking for tourist visa to stay only 10 days won't be much of a problem? I'm aiming to go apply around end of this month :D

Bout the decision, I think we gonna need some time to think it through where the 1st place we both should move and try our luck would be

    But Thank you anyway :D

And of course advices or tips always welcome

  3. Thank you 2 satang :D

Aahh I'm glad that at least renting is o.k. too, cose my BF isn't rich.

But one thing (I know i can be very paranoid sometimes, but .. I can't help it!) one thing ... We me & my bf met through the Net bout 3 yrs ago. And he came to see me like every year. But this year I plan to get tourist visa to go visit him :D You think the fact that we met throught the Net will make the whole long-stay visa and all that getting harder? Or it doesnt matter as long as we can impress them that we're serious :o

Yup I wish I'd be very lucky to get that well paid job. But I actually don't really mind whether I get high salary or not. I just want to be able to get a job there, so I can help my BF on some expenses :D

    Thanks once again

  4. :-)

Hmm i don't think there's any way he can finish it while here.

What bout .. he moved to study here in Thailand? Say .. international program at government University for a B.A in English? Get non-immi (Ed) visa and study here? Will it make him qualify for a long -run too?

  5. addition : Yes he got college diploma and now studying for a B. Ed

will the B.Ed degree makes it easy for him to get a job (say ..at International school or English programmed or sth like that) and WP and license?

Or other B.A. will do too?

And i also red one article that said ... if your degree (either B.A or B. Ed)'s printed in other language than Eng. Then the MOE will make it very difficult for school to obtain a teacher license for you. Is that true?? Cose I suppose when he grad, his degree will be in dutch.

He has to make the decision whether to quit or go on with this B.Ed. in a week.

    Help please :o

  6. That's right if he's got a WP and is earning less than 40K he'll still be able to get his Visa extended year after year as long as he keeps his job!

Err I thought you said he had a degree in the teachers room? If not it will be a lot harder to get a WP!

Go to the teachers room and I'll answer your school questions there!

    Thanks again ken :-)

Well yes now he's studying for this B.Ed (teaching Eng) in the Netherlands, but he just not sure if he should quit it and get other degree or not. Cose personally, he wouldn't want to teach dutch students (but he wouldn't mind teaching thai students who come to Eng school cose they really wanna learn, not cose of being obligated to study like those kids in Holland). So the important thing we wanna know and be sure bout is ... if this B. Ed degree would mean sth great & value in Thailand, and will help him & me to be able to stay together by getting a good job with WP (or any level of job with WP) teacher license and all that?? If so, then he might consider continuing what he's studying now.

    So ...hmm any advice?

    :o

  7. If he gets a teaching job with a WP he'll be fine. The minimum wages don't apply to us, and he won't have to do runs as his WP (if he gets one) will extend his Visa!

    Easy!

    Thank you Kenkannif :-)

btw, "the minimum wages don't apply to us"? You meant if someone's in teaching career (with legal WP), then he can get his visa extend, renew or whatsover as long as he still works as teacher even if he got low salary?? Don't have to show them you earn 40K a month?

And will any school hire a Dutch (no B.A., has only College diploma and TEFL)? Any advice on which schools we should go apply?

Ah I'm sorry for been asking so many questions bout this visa thingy on here. But I really need to make it clear to me & my bf, so we know what choice we have.

    thanks a bunch

  8. A wild thought: Would there be any point in moving to another EU country? If you can't satisfy the Dutch immigration rules, you may find that another country's rules as applying to EU nationals (other than its own) impose a lower income threshold. I believe the UK effectively doesn't have an income threshold in such cases, but I have a strange feeling that the UK's interpretation of the immigration rights of non-British EU citizens and their families is more generous than it need be. By the Surinder Singh precedent (EU law, not British law) you could move to the Netherlands after a sufficient period in another EU country.

However, are your employment prospects in the Netherlands relevant to meeting the Dutch immmigration requirements.

I did make some notes about what the relevant laws were (mostly EU directives, plus some notes from UK home office procedures, not all of which are necessarily legally correct) when I was considering Surinder Singh for my stepdaughter. Let me know if you want me to search for these notes for you. There seem to be EU moves afoot to curb these Surinder Singh rights.

I remember a Malay-Spanish couple who ended up settling in England (the Malay husband was a graphic designer, she was, I think, doing a job in England for which she was overqualified) because neither Spain nor Malaysia offered a suitable home. However, he had studied in England, so it's not the same as your case.

Their legal status in the UK always struck me as most bizarre. The Spanish wife could only vote in local elections (I'm not sure about the process for the European Parliament), while the Malaysian husband had full voting rights (because Malaysia is in the Commonwealth). However, he was only allowed to be in the country (and work) because of his Spanish wife. He entered the country on a fiancé visa, but on marriage, instead of getting further leave to remain, which apparently was taking a long time to grant, he rapidly got the necessary stamps allowing him to work (and continue residing) because his wife had a non-British EU nationality.

As a footnote, 'non-British EU citizens' includes Britons with Irish citizenship (at least, on the mainland it does), and exercising Treaty of Rome rights to work outside the UK may confer the privileges of a non-British EU citizen on a Britsh citizen.

    Thank you Richard W

    :o

Yes, I'd love to get more info. bout how I can move to live in the Netherlands. Cose my bf isn't rich or has any business there. He just works like normal office-worker who got paid bout 1300 euros (net)

    Appreciated

  9. Thank you for advices :D

Yes, I've been told that from the immigration too :o

I really have no problem with moving to the Netherlands myself. But ... i doubt that'll be easier to manage than getting he here? As i said, he's not a rich guy who owns house, business or a lot of money sth like that.

I know most ppl been telling me if he could find a job here, it'd be easier. And that "getting a job (with WP)" part is the part that worries me :D

  10. Thank you :-)

But how to do the visa run? like every 90 days?

He'll be allowed to live on non-immi (:D if he gets a job that pays less than 40k? Or can live on non-immi (o) based on marriage to me?

And is this visa run ... the choice we can keep doing forever untill he retires?

We just want to be together somewhere :o

  11. This is really worrying me.

I meant ... If i married with my bf (25 yrold from the Netherlands) here in Thailand, and he only had 400K in bank acct, which should be o.k. for the initial 1 yr visa. But what bout for renewals?? I know it would take him quite some time to get a job that pay at least 40K, or he may never ever gonna get that kind of job at all. He might be able to get only jobs like teaching Eng for 20-30K or sth. And he's not a rich guy. In his hometown, he just gets job that pays around the minimum requirement needed to be able to request for visa for me to go live there.

So my point is ... If we couldn't even live in our own country with our spouse (who definitely can be a good resident) just cose we don't have a lot of money or high income (And us who live in Thailand know that we don't need 40K a month to survive and feed the family, especially when both husband & wife got a job), then which spot on earth or what planet could we move to???

Will the immigration ever listen to our explaination? Can't wife support husband and husband support wife at the same time? I think ...family ... doesn't mean "Guys pay everything" rite?

Anyone got good advice? Or you'd recommend us to just get married, transfer his money from abroad to thai bank acct, get initial 1 yr visa, spend that one yr to look for job, and just take a risk & try to explain to the immigration when the renewal time comes?

    I really need help ... :o

  12. (Assuming already got a job offered) Will there be any chance in getting a Teacher license if we only got college diploma plus CELTA? Or ... they wanna see a degree?

I asked the MOE bout what documents needed to be submit, but they seemed to know ...nothing... bout TL. That's just so weird!

    All help appreciated :o

  13. Thank you ZOVOX :-)

To be honest, both of us don't really have problem in adapting into either thai or dutch lifestyle i think :-)

My bf would love to move here too. And i would love to move there too.

The thing that we concern isn't really bout lifestyle or climate or cultures or anything like that. But we we're worrying bout now is .. the visa & all that to be able to live in one country legally together.

And that you said "the truth is it will be hard either way" .. you mean the adapting to eachother's lifestyle part, or getting visa part?

Thank you for every advices. I just think if two ppl love eachother, and willing to go live either here or there. That country shouldn't deny :o

  14. Hey Thank you Darknight :-)

So basically, you would recommend the choice of me going to live in the Netherlands? :-) For me & my bf, we want to get married either here or there. So that's no problem. We've been apart for few yrs now. And we think it's time to finally be together. I have no problem with living there if they allow me. And oh... my bf's salary that i said 1300 euros ...is Netto :-)

You think I stand any chance in getting permit to go there on WVV (longer than 3 months visa) and get married there and live with him?

Cose like you said, he's still young and even if he could get teaching Eng job here, I think there's very very lil chance he can get 40k a month to be able to stay on non-imm visa based on supporting me. ... SO now I'm kind of aiming to go stay there if possible.

    Thank you very much :-)

  15. Can anybody summarize all the steps we have to take? pleaseee..

If we want to get married certificate here in Thailand, and after that my Bf wants to live here on marriage visa & get a job here. He got 400K bth. What would be best plan to arrage that? What do we have to do? Can you please put the answers into steps like

    1. do this

    2. do that

    3.

    4.

    etc

can start from where to get certificate & open bank acct and so on

    Cose I'm pretty confused now.

And say if when all those steps are taken and my Bf get the initial extension 1 yr. Then he later on during the year he got a job here. But the job only pays 20-30K. One year passed and he has to go do extension for another year with proof of that monthly income in Thailand plus 400K in bank a/c that's never been used (no withdrawal, no more money transfer in... just account that stay still like that) Will he be approved? Or he has to have 40k salary to go with that anyway??

    :o Many thanks

  16. Thank you Udon :D

Hmmm that's the part we're worrying bout ... Getting job here.

Cose he seems to be able to make good progress in his career there in The Netherlands too.

And hey that you said, the best would be he get a job here. You meant I might not be able to live there cose they won't give me visa ... or cose of climate? hehe Cose if cose of climate or other things I think i can handle :D

We just want to be together :o

  17. Thank you :-)

Well of couse he wants to support me, and that's why he wants to get a job here as soon as possible after marriage and get non-immi (O) visa.

He can't get non-immi (O) in Thailand? He has to get married to me, get certificate here 1st (he can do that on tourist visa rite?) and then fly back to the Netherlands, and submit doc. to thai consulate there to issue him non-immi visa? And then he can come back in thailand based on that marriage visa for 90 days ...and go do his 1st 1 yr extension at Immigration here in BKK? ... I understand correctly? And will the thai consulate there ever deny to issue him the 90 days non-imm visa if he got all docs?

I know getting a job should take less than "years" But we want him to get a job in like a year, so we'll be safe. Cose the only thing he has that can be proof of supporting me is the money in the Bank (around 400K-800K) And when he comes here, he has to quit his job there (Therefor, no more money from aboard can transfer in) And that's the reason why we really need to know the chances of getting job here. So ... you say he'll be able to get one in a year? Cose I heard choice 1. being teacher -> he has to get teacher's license which i think is pretty difficult in this situation and at school where they don't need license like at language schools ...they tend to not issue doc. to support you in getting WP.

choice 2. working in multimedia design or some graphic company? cose that's exactly what he has the diploma for. But i doubt that kind of work will be easy to find here. Cose most of those companies usually hire thai ppl.

Out of these 2 choices ... I still cannot think of any other job. Do you have any advices on that?

Oh btw, his colledge degree is not equal to B.A., it's one level lower. Just like diploma you get from colledge here too. In the Netherlands they have pretty complicated edu system.

    Many thanks :D

======= Lopburi3 : "Immigration will not issue a visa for him but after marriage he could travel outside Thailand to obtain one and probably would be able to obtain a multi entry O non immigrant visa from Penang but few other places in this region. Even then it is not for sure and conditions of issue change. As your husband he is expected to be supporting you here or take you to his home country and provide support there when of working age; as he is"

He has to get visa from outside Thailand even if he got money in the bank and would like to go for the choice of getting 1 yr extension?? Cose i once talked to Immi officer and he told me he just needed to come here with tourist visa, get married ceritficate, and then bring doc. + financial proof to Immigration and they'll consider if my Bf'll get 1 year visa or not.

    I'm very confused now :o

  18. Ohh and a lil bit more...

They say you only need 400K in bank acct or 40K salary to get this 1 yr non-imm(o) rite. So does that mean if we don't want 1 yr visa, we don't need any of that proof? We just need married certificate from Amphour and the immigration will issue 90 days non-imm visa for my bf and he just needs to do border run for extension? Like.... as long as he's legally married to me & don't mind doing visa-run every 90 days, then he can just keep extending it and doesn't need any saving in bank here or a job at all?

is there a visa like that? Or Am i just confused? :o

    All advices appreciated

  19. Hello :o

I'm thai gal living in Thailand now, and are making pretty big decision with my bf. He's in the Netherlands, 25 yrs old. We want to get married and are making up our mind to choose whether he should come live here or me should go live there.

So, I need some advices. You think which choice can be done easier considering chances to get job & paper work to get visa and all that?

The situation is that my Bf got a colledge diploma in multimedia design & some work experience in that field & Customer relation field. I think he can provide some saving money (around 400K-800K) and transfer it to thai bank and use as proof to request non-immi visa to support me. But the problem is if he comes live here, will he be able to get a job with workpermit in like a year? while that visa still valid ...

And me .. if we choose that I go live in the Netherlands, will that be possible? It can be done? The job he gets there pay around 1300sth Euros/mth. (which is around the minimum requirement of income needed to be able to bring someone to live with you in the Netherlands) + he has 1yr contract. Will I be able to request for a WVV and resident permit to stay there as his spouse? Will it be hard to be granted if my bf doesn't have high salary and still live at his parent's house .. and can only afford to rent an apartment?

Thanks for all advices in advance

  20. Hmmm I got lil question here.

My bf & I are planning to get married here in Thailand and let him live on non-immi (O) for a year or 2 till he get a job

What I'm wondering is... if my bf transfer money into thai Bank say .. 600K and he's granted that visa (based on marriage of couse) And during the year, he tried to look for a job and only used 100K of that money in the Bank a/c. My question is .. When he has to go to Immigration office to extend this visa for another year(still 500K left in bank), will there be any problem? Will the officer ask us to indentify how can my bf live on 100k for 12 months? And if they ask, will i be able to show the officer that I work and has salary too so I help with some expenses? I talked to immigration officer once and she said "just tell the truth and we'll see case by case" ... I definitely will tell them the truth. But I'm just afraid they won't extend visa for my bf.

I have to ask this cose I know how job hunt situation in Thailand can be. My bf might need quite some time before he can get a job. He wants to be here legally. That's why I decide to marry him and will let him request for Non-immi (O) visa so when he gets it, he can have some time to look for a job. Is that a good plan? Any advices?

BTW, my Bf is from the Netherlands. 25 yrs old. With colledge diploma in multimedia design.

    - Does anyone have some advices on the possibility of he getting job here and what kind of job'd that be? ...

    - Or will he be able to be a teacher(with legal WP and teacher's license)?

    - If he has got a Bachelor degree in teaching Eng from Uni in the Netherlands, will that help in getting a job and teacher's license? Or it's not worth going to study for that degree for another 4 yrs before coming here?

We don't mind much bout rate of salary. Can be 20 K/month or sth. We just need a job so we can show them that money in Bank account we use as a proof stays still every year. No withdraw, no transfer. Cose he has revenue from job here. Cose I think me & my bf are going to use this 400K bank account as money proof to extend non-imm (o) (supporting thai wife) for many years.

    Thank you

ps. sorry bout my Eng though, hope you guys could get what i was trying to ask.
