I'm from Belgium
Might look into the ED visa then. Any cheap recommendation that is not a scam? I'm looking to learn the language anyway.
And who knows, get married later
-
You need to visit a Thai embassy, and you will be restricted on back to back applications I think
Yeah, how many times u could get a tourist visa like that?
I'm looking for permanent solution and since i'm only 30, it's a long time till i'm 50...
Thx beechguy for the answer
-
Wow every 15 days a border run that's nuts. Can u extend that for 30 days longer like tourist visa or no? I can't imagine every foreigner is doing this?
And can u apply for a new tourist visa on any of the borders? Meaning, not fly home and come back?
-
What could i do to stay longer after that?
Can u do another border run, if so how much longer can u stay each time?
-
Thanks for the answers

I've read about some months the air is really polluted there. Is it really that bad?
During rain season, does it only rains a couple hours a day? And does the city get flooded?
In what conditions are the roads?
Is there a site or something to see as to what activities u can do there?
-
What attracts me? Weather, much to see and do and cheap prices mainly.
Yeah, but I would start learning the language immidiatly.
I looked into CM but it doesn't seem to be easy to go to different location as BKK would. So I dunno if it would be a good idea for the first 6 months startingpoint, altough it may be or not the location I end up in.
Cheap prices LOL, you are in for a shock.
The weather sucks big time, hot sticky and humid.
I can comfortably say on the price part I won't be in shock. It's way more cheaper to live there then Europe. Guaranteed.
That seri47 condo for example, here u would pay tripple to 5 times the price for same.

^^^^^^, its lower Sukhumvit for you and the higher prices that go with it.
If you are feeling more adventurous try On Nut.
Pattaya fits all your needs.
I actually don't like to live in the city and I dislike big cities even more, the chaos and traffic. I like to live near a city nearby tho but like calm more. Maybe Pattaya yeah. Never lived near beach so who knows.
But since I won't be having my own transportation yet, I think its the best option for now.
Maybe just moving to different location every 6 months might be an idea too.

the swimming pool is very good
i know one also good 4000 baht per month, furnished, but no mrt no bts(6500 in the ratchada branch 10 minutes walk from huai kwang mrt station nice area)
Thanks, both look good for that price.
How is the internet on the first one? The second one says only 1Mbit so I guess that doesnt qualify my needs.
And does it have laundry options? Can't seem to find info on site.
Found this too: max 4,2k bath max in this location:
Kwang Klong-Kum, Bueng Kum District
Don't know anything about it, and it doesnt seem to have BTS or train nearby. Avoid?
that looks good.not far from Hua Mak station, airport link(i think it runs until midnight).good connection to bts phayathai and mrt petchaburi via makkasan station
Hi I live in the Lad Phrao 101 area, here are the locations from, http://www.seri47residence.com/, for MRT stations on Google Maps.
1st Car/Taxi: http://goo.gl/maps/xC9jj
2nd by bus: http://goo.gl/maps/7Lh4o
Thanks, but I'm not sure about the location by looking better at it.

I have never been in Thailand. So i thought i'd go to Bangkok first and from there find out where i want to settle. In the weekends i would travel trough bangkok and once a month go to different location like Chiang Mai, Phuket and so on.
And then after 6 months or so decide where i want to settle, so I'm looking for a temporary 6 month condo.
So perhaps something close to a BTS station might be a good idea for a newbie. And I would like to eat out too 3 times a day. Will not be having transportation so everything must be easy accesable. City area style sort off I guess.
Any suggestion for a district?

there are 2 types of 3 entry tourist visas - either ones valid for 6 months from issue or 3 months from issue,
ask the embassy which type they issue - if it's only a 3 month type don't bother and apply for a 2 entry tourist visa instead.
most embassies give out 6 month types which means you'll be able to stay for almost 9 months
depending on how early you apply for the visa determines your maximum length of stay in thailand,
if you apply say 10 days before you come to thailand that 10 days will be taken off one of the first two entries :
enter thailand 60 days + 30 day extension (optional)
do a border run get next 60 days + 30 day extension reduced to 20 days
do another border run get next 60 days + 30 day extension.
so if you apply for your visa 10 days before your due to arrive you'll be able to stay 260 days.
you maybe able to apply a day or two before your due to arrive depending on how your applying.
the optional extensions cost 1900 baht and are done inside thailand.
when this all runs out you can goto a neighbouring country and get another tourist visa and start again or maybe you can apply for a different type of visa depending on status, or as you said you can just keep going to a border every 15 days.
if you can get a 3 entry tourist visa valid for 6 months that's a good as you can hope for, if it's only valid for 3 months then drop down to a 2 entry .
which embassy are you applying from ? do they do a postal service ? or can you do it in person ?
to activate each 60 day entry you have to leave thailand and re-enter some people just exit and re-enter 10 mins later some people spend many days outside thailand it's upto you, the extensions are done inside thailand at any of the immigration offices and the dates for doing those are anytime during the 60 days ( most people do the extensions around day 50 of your stay - the 30 days gets added on so you can't lose days) .
if you goto a burma border you will have to pay 500 baht to enter burma,
if you goto cambodia the price if 20 or 25$,
if you goto malaysia it's free,
if you goto laos it will cost you 35$.
is this your first time to thailand ? most people tour around and then decide where to settle.
Thank u for the detailed info.
I'm from Belgium. Dont know if they do postals but can go in person. Can be 6 months untill i come so havent checked that all out yet.
Yes it will be my first time. I think i'm going to rent something in bkk for first six months or year and get around in meanwhile to decide where i would like to settle.

Bangkok to Cambodia around thb 2,000by tour, doing by yourself is only recommended for seasoned travelers.
Chiangmai Mai to Mae Sai around thb1,000.-.
If you are from a qualified country you can get 15days visa exempt stamp.
And for how much longer can u stay then?
I'm looking for at least 60 days + 30 each time if that's possible
if you have a tourist visa in your passport you get 60 days entry with option to extend 30 days,
if you don't have any visa then you only get 15 days,
if you need to get a tourist visa locally you don't goto the border you have to visit a thai embassy and apply.
how long do you want to stay in thailand for in total ?
if you want to stay a long time you should apply for a 2 or 3 entry tourist visa from the thai embassy in your home country before you goto thailand .
Yes, i'm gonna try to pick that 3 entry tourist visa before i come.
So then i can stay 90 days x 3 right? So every 90 days i can take bus for new entry of 60+30 days.
I plan to stay longer then that (hopefully forever)
So after that i can onlt get 15 day extensions?

I think i will be staying in either bkk or chiang may

Hi, I'm an internet marketer and want to reopen my webdesign company and I'm from Netherlands.
I cant maintain an adress since I dont have relatives anymore. And I can't occupy friends with that, it changes tax income etc for having additional members to the family so to speak.
So "the company" cannot have an adress either here and have someone to do things needed if neccasairy.
and perhaps: Are there alternatives to Thailand where it's easier to start a business?
HK or Singapore
Dont like HK to much. I looked into Signapore too, but it seems to be alot more expensive. So that's a no as well.
I'm looking into Cambodja now, but can't find too much information.

Where do u set up ur business and get your vat nr from (obviously not Thailand)
I could start it up in my homecountry but since I wouldn't have an adress here anymore...
I'm puzzled by this. All info is appraciated!

Hi,
I'm looking for a job as either a webdesigner or something in IT. I'm currently living in Belgium, but I'm looking for a long term job in Thailand. So I speak English, Dutch and a little bit French.
IT: I'm good with computers and software and worked for years in subcontract for a bank, were I was a Field Engeneer. My role was to place and configure all pc’s and peripherals in all new offices and connect them to the network. Or interventions in existing offices for troubleshooting or to replace equipment. Or do rollouts.
Webdesign: I had my own webdesign company (me alone) for almost 3 years. I was responsible for the webdesign, webmastering, webdevelopment of client websites. But also did book keeping, customer support, marketing.
Think U can use me? PM me if u have more questions.

why would you want to register and pay taxes?
get on odesk, freelancer, elancer and work away.
i would kill for a decent webmaster at a decent rate
\
First and foremost, I need a visa. So even if it's part time, it would do the trick.
And what are you looking for exactly?

U can do the thai language thing for only 3 years, right? Then I'm stuck again. Unless I marry, wich I'm not really a fan off.
I'm thinking about just going to Cambodia, theres no hassle of visa's, no border runs and easy to set up buisiness.
Then again, it's not Thailand.
Choices, choiches.
