I've used brokers for DHL, FedEx and TNT. They were the assigned brokers for the couriers that contact me when the shipment arrives. At that point the ask me if they would like them to complete the clearance process to which I happily agree.

Have you been down there yourself? You may be able to do this the old-fashioned way? Ask them for assistance, to which they may provide an expedited way for an "express fee".

Haven't been down there as from past experience we've had awful experience in situations like these.  Spending the day showing up and driving around only to be told we can't do anything is hardly worth the time.  Every party involved so far has been completely un-useful.

If we had a company that could help us solve it, that would be a bonus.  We've chatted with 4 other people who made calls and couldn't get anywhere.  A real shame.

They will send it back if you don't start the customs clearance process, which unfortunately you have already started. I have had many parcels returned to sender over the years, including EMS parcels. You just have to make sure you're not contactable by the courier company or the post office. They wait about one month before returning them.

The most frustrating part of this is that had we known this, we wouldn't have accepted it.  They told us to get the import license and we'd be fine, then after we got that, they asked for other stuff which we couldn't provide so got stuck there.  Any other suggestions? We can try to get that paperwork they asked us, but it would take weeks and is unlikely.  Are there potential customs brokers that deal with DHL and situations like these? Cheers!

Here's a little trick that may come in handy in the future. If you are importing things that can get checked by customs and held, you watch tracking closely. Just ignore any parcels that are held at customs. They always send out a notice in the mail. Ignore that. Within a month the parcel is sent back to the sender. Then you can make your claim for money back from the sender. It's not worth dealing with customs for small shipments.

In your case, if you turn up there they will probably quickly give the parcel to you for a bit of tea money. Do they currently know that your wife has a Farang in the house? It will make a difference.

I heard that if you don't get back to them they destroy them.

They don't know she is with a farang.  It has been just a big joke and goes in circles with these guys.  Last hope is if they return to sender.  Will never use DHL again.

    Thanks guys for your input.

It’s not custom’s to gather up paperwork for the recipient.

Just download the formula print it out and give it to them.

As long as they get all the paperwork, it’s been my experience that they’re not too particular about the quality.

Most people are just trying to do their jobs as best they can.

The points they want are impractical.  I can contact the manufacturer but it will certainly take weeks from previous experience.  She wants the item returned to sender but they said now that they talked to customs they can't return it.  He she known this she wouldn't have sent to customs.  Any suggestions from here? She's chatted with the DHL agent and the DHL agent isn't of much help.  Anyone ever have a situation like this? Avoid DHL at all costs in the future.

  5. My girlfriend ordered some stuff from China for her business in Thailand, total cost was around 7,000 baht for 50 pieces.  It arrived via DHL and immediately got stuck at customs.  She had FDA approval already for the product (and had imported before via a different shipping carrier).  They asked her to get an import license (or license per invoice) for this shipment which she got (paid 1,000 baht for someone to get it for her).  This took around 2 weeks. DHL then went to customs and came back with three things they want to do/need:

    1. Want factory papers showing ingredients from the factory (which Thai FDA has already approved for her).

    2. Open packaging to look at product to see if ingredients match.

    3. Picture of product from factory.

It has now been 25 days since it got stuck at customs and DHL said within 5 days the shipment will be given to the gov't due to it's 30 day holding limit.  The 3 points above would be very difficult to get (and at the very least would take several weeks) as she buys from a distributor and not directly from the factory).  She then requested to have the shipment returned and they said "since DHL already talked to customs, we can't return it", which she was never told before.

This has been incredibly frustrating and looking for any suggestions or advice on how to handle this.  At this point returning it would be the best move forward but DHL is refusing.  Any advice is much appreciated.

    Thanks.

  6. My visa has expired and my stamp is good until March 5th.  I'm leaving to go to Nepal on April 18th.  I have plans on March 4th to be at a wedding near Poipet.  If I do a border run into Cambodia on the 4th, can I get a 60 day visa on arrival back into Thailand there (I'm from the US)?  If so, what is the cost/process? I've never got a visa on arrival and recently heard fees were waived.

    Thanks.

  7. If you arrived on March 20, 2016 with a tourist visa your last day to depart is May 18, 2016.

Date of arrival and departure are fully included in the count.

No date on the arrival stamp?

    Really??

Look harder or rush to the next immigration office to get it fixed.

You can not even be sure whether your visa has been used and noticed.

Maybe you were entered to the system as 30 day visa exempt.

    Another example for THE rule:

Check the stamps immediately after the passing immigration checkpoint (passport control).

In case of any uncertainty call a supervisor.

Thanks for the responses guys. I did look at the stamp immediately after as I usually do, but I figured it was some change. They stamped my tourist visa as "Used - March 20", and on the departure card it just says March 20 without anything written in "Admitted Until" - it is blank. First time this has happened to me.

How is 60 days May 18th? There are 31 days in March and 30 in April, so shouldn't it be May 19th?

In addition to this above, I plan to go visit Malaysia for a few days and re-enter Thailand after on a 30 day stamp. I have a flight to the US on June 22nd. What date can I re-enter on a 30 day stamp such that June 22nd will not be over the deadline/overstay? Is it May 23rd, since May has 31 days?

Did you look at the entry stamp in your passport. If you enter on a visa immigration often leaves the admitted until date blank on the departure card because you might get an extension that would make that date wrong.

The day you enter the country is day one of the 60 days is why it is the 18th.

If you enter on May 24th your admitted until date would be June 22nd.

Ah, you're correct. Looks like there is a stamp on the visa itself without an admitted until date, as well as another on a different page on the passport, and on the deparature card, hence the confusion.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

  9. I've had several tourist visas over the years. Every time I've entered the stamp had the date at which I needed to exit, or extend, the entry.

However, I recently got a single entry, entered into Thailand on March 20th. The stamp, however, didn't have the exact exit date. I know it is 60 days, but I'm not sure how they count the 60 days.

In Indonesia I entered on Feb 23, left on Mar. 22, and got hit with a 1 day overstay fee over 30 days, when I thought I was under 30. Some countries start counting at 1, others start from 0.

So as I entered Thailand on March 20, 60 days is May 19th (since there are 31 days in March)? Is that correct?

    Thanks in advance!

  10. I live in Bangkok, in the OnNut area, and recently moved to a new condo and signed up with True with a package that is like 13mbps. Over the last 2 months, I've noticed if I am using my internet on my laptop, the internet on my roommates laptop doesn't load really. And if he is using the internet, the internet doesn't load so well on mine. It's not like it shuts it off, because we will often both play chess on our laptops over the internet, but in general, we've noticed this trend. Not sure if it is related to them limiting connections or what.

We have a router in one of the rooms. We've tried resetting it, we've tried restarting, etc. with no luck. Do any of these symptoms sound familiar? Any ideas on how to fix this? I suspect if I tell true about it, they will come over here, run a speed test on 1 laptop and say it's fine.

Any tips, recommendations, or help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

  11. I got my triple entry visa today, OCT 2, so does this look like the best way to go about my trip?

OCT 2 - issued triple entry visa - will be doing 2 weeks traveling before entering Thailand

OCT 24- Arrive into Bangkok, uses first entry of the triple entry visa

    NOV 12 - Leave Thailand to Malaysia/Singapore

DEC 5 - Arrive into Bangkok, use second entry of triple entry visa

FEB 2 - Extend second entry 30 days

MAR 2 - Exit country to travel for a couple weeks

    MAR 20 - Re-enter Thailand using 3rd entry

    MAY 20 - Extend visa 30 days

JUNE 20 - 30 day extension expires, leave to try to get another entry.

Hi I'm curious to know since its June 2013.How you made out? Can or did you get the rentry visa in June

Yes, the triple entry worked great, and I did make it out, and back in for 2 weeks before heading out again.

  12. My tiple entry tourist visa expires soon (have already used all 3 entries). On June 8th, I am exiting Thailand, and will be outside the country until around July 1st. On July 1st, I plan to re-enter by air for 2-3 weeks, and then leave again after 2-3 weeks. Will I have any issues with this? I figure I will be fine since I will be in the country less than 30 days w/o a visa, but just want to confirm.

    Many thanks!

  13. How do plan on getting the non-b visa?

A non-b can be a multiple entry visa if you qualify for it. Not available from nearby embassies unless you have a work permit. Can be issued in your home country for business purposes if you are working for or own a company there.

An extension of stay of a non-b visa entry can be done if you have a work permit. A multiple re-entry permit can be obtained for an extension of stay.

I hadn't though about that yet, since I am still trying to decide which visa is best. I assume I will apply online and ship my passport in my home country to get the visa.

    Thanks for the info.

  14. I've been here for about a year, and I am looking for new insurance. What insurance is good for a 24 yr old male, healthy? I want to be able to get checkups/vaccinations without having to pay cash out of pocket. I also want to be protected in case of an emergency or accident. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

  15. True or TOT ADSL

There is no true unlimited 3G, it lowers the speed to 64kbits after you go over your said package.

I knew it wasn't unlimited 3G, but I figured it would still work after 5GB. It doesn't. Can you give me more info on those 2 you just mentioned? How do I signup? I googled True ADSL but I don't see too much on it.

you are talking about 3g not internet, if you would pony up for a decent Adsl or Docsis connection you would not have any trouble (or not nearly as much) despite the odd hiccup, i ALWAYS have internet

I'm more than willing to pay for whatever I can get to work. Can you give me more info on how to signup, the cost, the time it takes, etc.?

    Thanks.

  16. I am currently in Lumpini Ville on Sukhumvit 77, in Bangkok. I can't get any stable internet here. Smartzone sells cards here, but they are worthless. Internet constantly goes in and out. I've probably called them 10 times, and emailed another 10, and they can't figure it out.

I bought an aircard and then went to Dtah and bought what I thought was an unlimited plan (gets slower after 5GB). I used up 5GB in like 3 days, and now it doesn't work at all - won't connect.

I called Buddy Internet, and they said they don't support LumpiniVille.

Half of the time when I turn my wifi on I see @TRUEWIFI, but it always times out whenever I try to connect. The other half of the time doesn't even find it (I'm on a Macbook Pro). This tells me it is an unstable connection.

What other options do I have? Any recommendations would be much appreciated. I need an internet that will load videos, remain up all the time. It doesn't need to be really fast, just usable.

    Thanks in advance!
