Takes about 3 hours to get to Samet, maybe less, 1000 times better than Larn
Leave around 8 am, by 11.30 latest, checked in and on beach....Enjoy!

1) You can take your bike for I believe 250 baht and only on certain boats so check ahead.
2) Napuk resort is 600 baht with AC and near beach.
3) Send me a message if you need any assistance.
The Buddha statue on the southern hill ( don't know the name) is quite nice as a vantage point. There are lots of boats and tours: monkey island , koh sak fishing and so on. the weather is rough at the moment, so you better do not get sea-sick easily.
Most of the beaches are packed with Chinese, Russian and Indian day trippers. One some of the beaches, you can't even swim because of the speed boats rushing all around. Really dangerous.
Others can jump in, but I can't imagine there's anything to do after the day boats are gone. There are a few places to take the scooter, but not many, and not very far.
Personally, I'd head over for the day and check it out first. Easy enough to do.

Thanks for that. I do appreciate the input and also the offer from Udonthani1
From the sounds of it, I might change my ideas and find a different island to go to.
As I said, it is a long time since I was there. It may well be that my memory of the place is mixed up with elswhere from when I used to travel around a lot, often guided by a Thai at the time.
In those days you could park on beach road and sleep in the truck!! alt=laugh.png width=20 height=20>
Maybe a re-think is in order
Much better choice Koh Samet. Take minibus to Banphe, but 100% avoid guided tours with anything Malibu. In Banphe go to main pier opp. 7/11 and take public boat 50 Baht to get to island. Plenty of bungalows on Hat Sai Kaew & Ao Pai beaches. You will enjoy it. Avoid public holidays. MS.

Thank you. the yacht was built here new and will be exported and registered in Malaysia. In fact we will leave Thailand with the yacht under Malaysian flag.
But in order to check in at the Langkawi harbor/immigration we will have to show the yacht having been checked out in Thailand/Samui. What are the requirements for this?
Of no registration in Thailand, you just need a customs declaration of export. Ask a freightforwarder. Shouldn't cost more than 2 or 3000 Baht. But you should purchase from Thai shipyard as non resident, with address on invoice outside Thailand. That way you save 7% Thai VAT.
Furthermore, ask shipyard for certificate of origin, so that no import duties are levied in ASEAN countries, or China, NZ, Australia. Might make it easier to sell vessel in the future.
Great Info. THX. MS.

sorry in this topic you were not asking about thai registration.
THX. Still open for suggestions for that, too. Also we believe we will get it in Bangkok at the Harbor Department. The export issue seems more pressing with much conflicting information as usual in Thailand. MS.

Just been informed your boat builder should be able to assist with this.
You can call Bill on 038237300 for help and advice. Has built and exported boats out of Thailand so is experience in this.
Thank you very much. MS.

There is a company that operates out of Ocean Marina in Pattaya that does this service. The company is called Buzzcats.
Let me ask this question in a few hours and try and save you a few bucks.
Great, thank you very much. Have a great Sunday. MS.

I am re-posting this on Samui Forum, as Samui will be our Exit Point and we have not received any response from agents proposed in Phuket Forum. Thank you.
Hi to all yachties & experts;
I have a yacht built in Thailand which I want to export out of Thailand to Malaysia. The yacht is newly built and in the process of being registered under Malaysian flag now. Our exit point for immigration and yacht-sign-out will be Samui.
Has anybody done this and could supply a checklist regarding procedures. Is there any taxes, duties, special paperwork I need to be aware of? Or would anybody know about a reliable agent who would do the entire paperwork for me? Don't mind paying his fare to Samui, if coming from Phuket.
Thank you kindly for any feedback. M.S.

Its about a Balloonride. The Thrill of it.
Exactly. The point is totally missed here as the folk on these forums are totally obsessed with what everything costs.
You are so right. This is one of the most negative cheap-charlie forums around. I mean the Pattaya one. But, then look around what kind of people live here....Don't mean to generalize....The are some good ones..... MS.

There is a marine department office at the end of walking street, on the way to the light tower where all the speed boats are parked.
They should be able to handle, they also do seaman books (passports).
Bigger stuff they might forward to the main office for this area in Laem Chabang.
Sent from my GT-I9001 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
Great info! THX. MS.

One more question: How can a I possibly obtain a Thai non-commercial Captain's license.
Thank you kindly for any feedback. M.S.

How could we expect anything different? TIT and certainly the response to this oil spill was far from adequate and authorities not prepared. What a shame. MS.
